Safety Ladder

You can't review something that only works once and that you hope you will never have to use. It would be nice if it came with a mounting bracket since trying to find it in a closet and put it in place in a window in a smoke filled room seems almost impossible. I would also suggest they add a small blinking light to help you find the ladder in the dark/smoke that might be run on a small long-lasting battery.

Pretty good but still kinda scary

The ladder is designed to hang over a windowsill and prop itself against an outside wall. It looks like it would be very stable and reliable this way. Unfortunately we don't have windows that open, so our 3rd storey egress is off a balcony (no wall to prop on). It will not be easy to get onto the ladder this way and it will swing and twist as you descend, but it's still a lot better than nothing. I'd rather slide down a rope though.

life saver

After the horrible house fire that took the lives of 7 college students, I felt that my beach home was a fire trap also. I have a rental home at the beach that is 3 stories tall with no excape route. I don't know if the house that caught on fire had excape ladders or not, but I do know that mine do not. Trying to find anyone that sold excape ladders for these tall beach homes was hard. Most beach home living spaces start on the second floor. After checking several local stores I came to Amazon and was not disappointed. I received my 2 ladders for the 3rd floor living spaces in 2 days. They will be in maked accessible areas for renters for find easly. I now feel confident that I have provided an easy escape in case of a fire. Amazon also sells ladders for much taller structures in case they are needed.

I ordered a 3-story fire ladder. This was very economical compared to other sites, and it arrived very quickly without shipping charges. We have not used (and hope never to have to use) the ladder, but it appears to be easy to install and of good value.

It's a ladder

Well, if I were to honestly review this product my house would have had to burn down. That would suck. I will tell you that, like life insurance, you hate to use it, but it's good to have. We have a family member who often forgets and leaves candles, stove burners, and gas fireplaces lit overnight. I feel comfortable knowing that when he decides to burn the house down, I'll be able to evacuate my wife and son from the 3rd floor living room.

5 year warranty

As most of the other reviewers have stated, the box clearly mentions that this is a ONE time use ladder. But there is also mention of a 5 year limited warranty when you read the instruction manual. What good is a warranty if I can't determine if it's defective until I actually have to use it in an emergency??! And if it is defective, and I fall and get injured, I'm going to want more than just a "new" ladder. I can't actually say how well the ladder works since I'm forbidden to test it, but I bought it anyways just in case. The warranty makes no sense though, it's like they're mocking me.
