If you like pain this product is for you. I personally can't get used to it. It feels like your being shocked over and over and over. Not worth the time or money shaving is much easier.

Razor & Wax Free!

I purchased the Emjoi AP-97B Intimate Epilator after it was highly recommended by a friend. She said that it had been 5 years since she last shaved/waxed her armpits. In my eyes that was a dream come true. It's been 1 month since I purchased my Emjoi and I LOVE IT!! I personally do not feel any pain when using the product but this may be because I previous waxed my armpits so the hair is not thick. This is a great starter unit and now that I know that I like the product I intend on upgrading to a corded unit. This smaller unit will be great for travel.

good little epilator for first time users

I've never tried an epilator before (nor have I tried waxing). I've always been afraid of the pain, and didn't want to try. But recently I was trying to look for a more long term solution than shaving. After reading lots of reviews on many types of epilator, I finally decided on trying this one. I've only used it once so far, and so far so good. It evoked much less pain that I've expected. Afterall, it's pulling hair out of our skin, so you can't expect no pain. To me, it felt like a light pinch whenever it caught a hair. I don't have much hair on my legs so it took me only a couple minutes to use it on both of my legs. One thing I've noticed is that it left little red dots on my legs (which I thought should be pretty normal when hair is being pulled out). It did cut a few hair short, rather than pulling them out completely. I guess I have to wait a week when they grow back out and try again.

I have used many epilators, starting with the first EpiLady that came out many years ago to today. And most of them are OK for legs and such, but for intimate use... not so good. They are too big, hard to manipulate and they PINCH a lot, they actually hurt you over and over.... This one is very gentle, easy to use and it works!!! I highly recommend it.

It is just an ok epilator, not too good. I had to spent several minutes on each small area trying to remove hair and that is with years of epilating experience that I have. Even though there is no cord (which is a plus) I would not buy it.

I bought this product about four months ago and it does a great job but I have not been able to tweeze my underarms and bikini line its very hard to think of because each time I try, the pain is beyond words, so i have left those that way and kept shaving. I dont know how people do it. I guess my hair is too thick and deeply rooted. I probably should try electrolysis first or somthing. But overall, it is a good product.

A Little Intimidating

Ok, so I consider myself a strong woman. I can take a little pain. For goodness sakes I gave birth to two children almost 8 pounds each, but I will have to admit that when I opened this little baby up and saw all of those menacing teeth looking tweezers I was more than a little intimidated. Grin and bear it is what I thought and that is exactly what I did. I have to say that it really is not all that bad and overall it does a decent job. It's to say the least a little uncomfortable, but as my hubby says when I wear a pair of shoes that hurt my feet, "Honey nobody says fashion is comfortable!" I would love to try out the more sophisticated models but I will stick with this one and see how it does for the summer and then maybe graduate to one of those.I am giving it overall a 4 because it is not perfect at tweezing and sometimes missese even after going over the spot a few times. So a 4 from me is what it will be!

Better Than Expected

Being a first timer, this was not as painful as I thought it would be. I read a review saying this causes pain and torture, but I haven't experienced anything other than a pinch. I'm really happy with this product. The only problem is possibly having to buy batteries for it, but batteries make it really easy to bring around.

Not what I had hoped for..

The reviews for this product sounded great, so I decided to give it a shot.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the results others had. This could be because of a lack of experience on my part, but this epilator just didn't remove all the hairs, no matter how many times I ran it over.

However, as far as the pain goes...if the hair isn't too long and you just bite the bullet, it really doesn't hurt that much.

Make sure your hair isn't too long, just like the instructions say. I used it on my underarms & my skin looks beautiful ~ no more stubble! Expect pain because, regardless of the type of epilator, you will feel pain since the hair is being removed from the root.
I think it's a handy product & I'm planning to use it on my legs & bikini line as well.
