I purchased this surge protector/multiplug hub because I ran out of plugs on my old school surge protector (purchased in the dark ages of 1997- yikes!) I originally went to Amazon to purchase the schmancy Belkin surge protector with a cover and lots of stuff I didn't need. I found this one, which is sleek (as other reviewers have said), efficient with space, and easy to use. Plus it looks pretty good. No frills and high functionality. It's a good combo!
Functional with lots of outlets

This compact power strip is as stylish as a power strip can be. The power cord is long and has a flat 90 degree plug which is convenient when you are using an outlet behind the a couch or furniture.

Not quite as useful as the bigger model, but it looks nice a slick and it dosn't stand out to bad. Its meant to be out in the open though so don't buy it if you have an entertainment center you want to stick it behind. Dosn't always fit.
Form and function at it's best 2007-04-03
My old surge protector was getting in my way with it's flat design and a mess of cords drapping over it. With this surge protector, I have said good-bye to all of those problems. The shape is what makes this protector so funtional. The sockets aren't all tightly packed and difficult to access. With four on the side and four on top, it's very easy to reach in and unplug or plug in cords without getting tangled up in the others. This is a great product for the design and the funtionality of it. Worth the price.
Great product! 2007-01-10
Replacing the surge protectors I had with this one is a great improvement. Larger plugs rest on the lip instead of hanging over the edge and sometimes disconnecting. There is ample space for numerous connections, unlike so many surge protectors out there. I am using two and have space for all connections for two computers, printers, modems, etc. Great choice!

This Belkin protector is a very good product. It saves a lot of space, has many outlets, and looks very modern. Compare to a store price, it can be bought at a very decent price on Amazon. You can also find this product wothout shipping cost.
Missing adequate features and limitations

Disappointed with what I received.
I bought this to use a power distribution center for an aquarium. What's the first thing I see: Not suitable for aquariums. On the box and on the unit itself, but not on the website description.
Also, there is no circuit breaker or on/off switch with this unit. First time I've seen one of these without a master power switch and a breaker.
Thoughtful design + affordable price 2008-03-29
Good, clean design and layout. Flexible enough to accommodate up to 6 power bricks without blocking the other outlets (4 on the wide face, 2 more on the ends of the narrow face). A "Not Grounded" warning light is a great feature that provides additional peace of mind.
I mounted it on the underside of my desk to get all the wires off the floor. The thoughtful design extends to the keyhole for screw mounting which gives you the option of forward or sideways engagement. It works even better when upside down because the cables hang down instead of draping over.
On the quality side, the on/off switch feels flimsy, and 3 prong, grounded plugs take some effort to pull back out. Belkin probably figured these actions aren't frequent enough to warrant complaint, i.e. most people just plug in, switch on, and forget about it for the next three years, and cost reduced these components to keep the price down. It's a good compromise. I'm very pleased with the product and the price!
Eureka, I have found it! 2008-02-12
My last surge protector blew up along with a DVD player, and it was not a pleasant experience. Luckily, everything else that was plugged into it survived, but I figured it was time to find a surge protector that I had been seeking since the dawn of time (make that the dawn-of-my-first-computer time). Trying to make all the plugs fit was an exercise in frustration and the units never stayed in place because the weight distribution always tipped the things over. This little gem solved all those problems and looks good besides. I finally found the surge protector I wanted and needed! It is worth every penny.
