Compatible HR Sensor
2008-01-06
I can only imagine that this product works great, but apparently Timex codes their heart rate sensors differently, creating a compatibility issue. The discription could have been a bit more specific as to what sensors it works, or does not work, with.
If you purchase a Timex HRM and you want to log your workouts then you need to purchase the Timex T5G751 Data Recorder 2. It costs a bit more but it works.
Wonderful - Awesome at any price - Nothing else does it!

I just received this heart rate logger. It worked perfectly right out of the package. You can set the data logging interval from 1 sec. to 60 sec. The best feature is that the data can be output as a text file or an excel file with a heart rate in beats per minute for every data logging point. This solves the problem of being able to use your own data for whatever you want. So you don't need to go to the endless forums on how to get the data out of a $300 Polar heart rate wristwatch. At $20 plus postage this is a real steal! I'm so glad to have found this.
If you are seriously interested in stress reduction by measuring heart rate variability or in monitoring your exercise program, this is for you.
Thanks, Oregon Scientific for a great product.
Great little device, cheap too!

I have always wanted one of those nice data logging heart rate monitor watches. But at my activity level, I couldn't justify the price. So I bought a cheap Timex heart rate monitor watch (model 1440), and have been satified with its limited capabilities.
I only recently stumbled upon this item, and for the price here at Amazon, I simply had to try it. Amazon shipped it to me in only a couple of days (Thanks Jeff!) I have used it several times and am quite satisfied. The software that comes with it is only very basic, but its probably good enough for most. What I like is that I can export the data to Excel (or most any other spreadsheet as a CSV file), where I can really have a good look at the data.
For the price, this is an excellent value!
Simple and Easy

I have a Polar F55 heart rate monitor and I use the Polar online software. Recently Polar did an "upgrade" to the software which turned out to be a downgrade since it reduced the functionality so I went in search of something that I could control on my computer.
I found this item and I am quite pleased with it. You just clip it on your chest strap and it collects infomation while you work out. It connect to your computer through a cable and USB port (no quirky audible or infrard stuff) and lickity split the data is on your computer. I particularly like the fact that the data is stored in an excel database so that you can manipulate it as you will.
Polar eat your heart out!
Customer NO Service

I purchased a $300+ internet radio from ANTOnline and had problems from the day it got to me. ANTOnline does not have a person you can talk to in "Customer Service" so you must email them. After 3 weeks of trying to get this radio to work I emailed them about how to get my money back. They emailed back that I was to contact the manufacturer, mail the radio to them and get a reconditioned radio back. I emailed them back stating that if I follow this proceedure my 30 day period to get a refund would pass and what would I do then. They ignored me! No answer. So I followed their proceedure and I'm still having trouble with the radio so I emailed them again asking for advice on how to get a refund. They ignored me again. Nice way to do business. Don't deal with these people until they get their act together they obviously don't care about their customers.
Works just as advertised!

I have a cheap Polar HRM watch and strap (T31) and this little thing works great with it! I have been using it over a year. It is a 1.2" button that I clip to my collar and download the data after few days. I can wear it all day and it will maintain over a weeks worth of 18 hours per day data. You really must read the instructions carefully or you think it is not working! It takes a couple of seconds to sync-up with your chest strap. I just bought another one on sale for a back-up device.
Great device,
but Oregon Scientific technical support is almost non-existent. On 2 occasions it took over a month to get an e-mail reply, and the answers were not helpful.
One star by default...

This Oregon Scientific Heart Rate Logger doesn't work for me as it is advertised to do. Ostensibly, it will read the heart rate as transmitted from a Polar heart rate monitor. It doesn't. I tried with my own Polar chest strap, and a Cateye as well. Then I tried 5 other Polar chest straps, and a Garmin just to be sure. This item didn't read any of them. Perhaps I got a bad one, and perhaps if I exchanged this one, I would be satisfied. However, several emails over the course of 2 weeks to Heart Rate Monitors USA have gone unanswered. Buyer beware. The product is suspect, and the customer service is...well, non-existent
Heart Rate Logger - Oregon Scientific
2008-05-08
The heart rate logger is easy to use, and links to my computer quickly. The ability to export the csv files is great for more long-term (comparitive/between days) analyses. I have not experienced any hardware issues to date.
Works great

Works great and the software shows graphs of heart rate.
The software is fairly simple and it would be nice it it has a forward and back function to scroll through your workouts instead of using a calendar.
Make sure to connect the device to the software to set the date before using it. Also, make sure the software is running before physically connecting to prevent data loss. Also, turn off the automatic clearing of the logger memory after data transfer so you can be certain the data is transfered before it is deleted from the logger.
Very Poor Customer Support

I received this unit for Christmas, not knowing that it wouldn't come with a chest strap to send the heart rate data to the unit. Why in the world would Oregon Scientific sell a monitor with nothing to send the information to it? I've e-mailed the company four times over nearly a month's time. The first went unanswered. The second time, I received a reply from "Mark H" saying they didn't have my original message, and could I resend it. I did that and didn't hear from them. I sent the last e-mail telling them if I didn't hear back, I would post a negative review on Amazon. I really wouldn't do business with Oregon Scientific if I were you.
Anyone want a SmartSynch unit?
