It works OK.

This shredder is a little underpowered IMHO but it does what I need it to do in a household application.
Great Shredder
2008-07-01
This shredder will meet all your household needs. This is the second Fellowes Powershred Shredder I have owned. I had my previous one for 6 years and it basically became too small. With all the identity theft going on, I shred everything. The P-57 handles all my shredding jobs, big and small. If you are looking for a great household shredder, you can't go wrong buying the Fellowes Powershred P-57.
Son recommended.

Is as good as my son said. Better than the one it replaced from Staples which was more expensive and failed after 9 months. Good power.
good shredder

Great. Works well. Has main off and on switch on top and another power switch on side which makes me happy for safety. (Have 5 year old in house, he knows not to touch the shredder without me being right there). For small home office realize a smaller one would have been fine, but happy with this one, works great. Also checked consumer reports, I think this was rated best for size. I also realize most mail goes in garbage, less to shred than I thought, but still nice to have.
Simply Adequate
2008-06-23
This unit performs adequately in its intended job (shredding paper). I have two caveats with this unit. One, it does not shred the left corner of the paper, instead leaving a straight strip of paper. Two, the shred particles are too big. For example, I shred a bank statement and looked at a random shred and was able to read my entire account number. My best advice is this, safety is one thing, quality shredding is another. Look elsewhere.
Good shredder
2008-07-18
This shredder is easy to use, quieter than our previous shredder, and gets the job done. I haven't pushed its limits since I killed our last one by shredding too many sheets at once and shredding for too long a time. So, I use this one according to manufacturer's specs, and it has performed well. No issues with it, and I fully recommend this shredder for home use.
great so far

exactly what i wanted, no problems with it so far.does its job quietly and
shreds up to 5 sheets without any issues, have not tried credit cards , thats not what i was looking for in a shrerer

It's been working great and doing a terrific job! It was less expensive than buying it locally. But I wish I had known it did not recommend shredding address labels since we get so many in our junk mail! But I sneak some labels in now and then and also use the oil to keep the shredder moving well.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone needing a home shredder for medium use!
Doesn't perform as advertised
2008-07-11
I don't understand the high reviews. This shredder will work fine only if you are nice to it. While the advertisement claims it can shred eight pieces of paper at a time, this is completely false. I can only shred two or three pages; all junk mail must be opened and unfolded to be properly shredded. There's no way I'll attempt to run a credit card through this thing. The shredder is way underpowered, yet it still manages to be incredibly loud. It also weighs around twenty pounds. The power cord is ridiculously short. So far it's still working, but I'm not happy with this purchase.

This shredder works much quieter and faster than the old one I had. The only thing I wish it had was a window to see when it is full.
