More trouble than benefit

I agree with many of these reviewers. We've had PANDA IS2007 on a laptop & PC (both XP SP2) for the last year, installed by and at the recommendation of our computer repair place after our PC crashed due to major malware infestations last fall.
PANDA is probably pretty good at detecting & dealing with viruses, malware, intrusions, etc. but the program can develop major glitches without warning. Then you're stuck trying to use the lame support section on their website (Note to PANDA: get some literate, native English speakers to double-check your English-language instructions & info) or, worse, trying to deal with tech support.
My record with PANDA tech support on several major issues (where software wouldn't update, where wireless didn't work, where net security was suddenly imposed out of nowhere thus locking me off the internet with no way of knowing the password at first, technical questions about renewal & upgrades) ranged from no response whatsoever on one of them to an average of 24 - 36 hours for email responses. I might note that tech support's email responses can be of questionable literacy too, making it hard for you to understand what advice they are providing. In contrast to their flaky tech support, PANDA's marketing department blankets you with emails. I would say I've had close to one a day since early July for renewal dates in early October. Also, in this last month of our licenses, PANDA has added an additional marketing pop-up that shows up every time you boot up.
The last straw may have come when I finally understood (after 2-3 days of exchanging mails with tech support) that in order to renew & upgrade to PANDA IS2008, I have to UNINSTALL the existing PANDA & then download & install the new one. That's ridiculous, IMO, and we'll probably be junking the PANDA. In this day and age there is no reason for a security program to have to be uninstalled in order to upgrade it, thus leaving the computer vulnerable. As it happens, our computer repair place now recommends AVG as the best AV program, so assuming I make it through the UNinstallation process for PANDA (which can apparently be bad, judging from my google search), that's what we'll be using.
Attention PANDA: You probably have a good product but until you get your act together regarding tech support & making your product more user-friendly, I can't recommend you to anyone who isn't fairly computer-literate.
My ultimate solution? Our next computer will be a Mac.
Great AV with the worst tech support imaginable...

Panda has the most astonishingly bad tech support I have ever encountered. If you do get a response from them, it could be weeks or months later. Their AV technology is really great--I am convinced that Panda provides some of the best AV and spyware protection--but the nearly nonexistent support means I'll "just say no" to Panda next time. If I could give it a "four and a half stars" for protection, and a "minus two" for support, I would.
P.S.: 1. You'll probably need support once in a while, as the install can be buggy, and the program occasionally (though rarely) acts up, 2. the program updates at the most inopportune times without notification even though it has been set to inform you when it is updating, and, 3. And perhaps worst of all, this program absolutely refuses to uninstall, even via add/remove programs and CCleaner.
By the way, I am writing this review offline in notepad, so I can go online and post the review without spending much time online and unprotected, since my Panda is currently unusable. I'll be installing AVG's free AV shortly (I've used it at work, and no problems).
Excellent Security Suite
2007-08-15
I've used Panda Internet Security Suite for about four years now. I've had very good luck with the installation of the product and it does not seem to bog down my programs. Once you properly set up the program, it hums along pretty good. I've had good experience with their technical support. When I had a problem, they answered me in a couple of days at most. I notice that Consumer Reports in their September 2007 magazine does not even list Panda. That both surprised and disappointed me. I recommend Panda Internet Security Suite 2007 (recently upgraded to Version 2008).
Easy to Use

After using Norton for YEARS, I bought their "Personal" safe. It locked up my laptop until I wanted to cry. I had to FORMAT my hard drive to remove it! The "removal tool" they gave me wouldn't even get it off. After removal I shopped on Amazon.com for a new virus protection. A lot of the programs have trouble with Windows XP or one of their "updates". This not only loaded without a hitch, it didn't slow my computer down even when running in the back ground. And believe it or not it cost me less than [...] AND had a license for THREE computers, un-real! I wouldn't know about customer service because I haven't had a problem with my desktop computer or my laptop.
BAD, BAD, BAD!! TRASH!

Excelent choise for the product and the price.
Better than McAfee; faster than Norton; so-so in most ways
2007-05-30
This is the third internet security suite I've used and it's just OK, maybe a bit better than others. Has not bogged down my computers as Norton tends to do and does a much more thorough job scanning and detecting intruders. I do like the speed of Panda's automatic updates - hardly know it's happening till it's finished. Gives nice reports and summaries of threats. Has settings for only scanning application I actually use. Has some annoying pop-ups and it took 4 attempts to fully load. Does not seem to interfere with or delete other programs as some reviewers have mentioned. Appears to be doing a decent job but I would like to see it run faster.
Panda Shmanda...I'm not impressed

I bought this to replace Trendmicro. I prefer Trendmicro. This software might work but it tends to do some annoying things.
The Bad
1) It does slow down my machine more than trendmicro did, but not as much as McAfee
2) I get random popup balloons from windows telling me I'm not protected with a firewall yet the software is clearly on.
3) When I got to get updates to any software other than windows I have to reset the software in panda, don't remember needing to do that with others.
4) Since installation my wireless connection needs constant reseting.
The good
1) it was free after the rebates. Given a choice I'll be switching back to Trendmicro.
Files deleted
2007-05-12
Panda deleted 3 of the files in my favorites each time it downloaded updates. I contacted panda and did what they instructed, but the program still deleted these files. Panda also slowed my computer to an almost stop each time it was downloading updates. I removed panda and installed Norton, and have had no further problems.
