there is a way to fix it if it freezes
2008-05-05
I have had the same problam that the radio freezes somtimes and the best way to get it back on is to take off the cover and pop out the battery and just put it back in and then it should work.
Good value!

This is a great radio for less than $50. The only downsides are that it does not have the nightlight-style blue screen light and it is not portable unless you record songs to the internal memory while it is docked(although I don't know if any of the other styles/brands are).
Overall satisfied.
Nice little unit...when it's working
2008-04-19
I've had a fairly decent experience with my SkyFi3. First, don't even bother with the FM modulation...get it properly installed or do it yourself. I had a local installer mount the skyfi and run all the cables, and wire it into the Aux jack on my radio, and the results are quite nice. The radio does cut out once in awhile while driving but it's fairly rare. The features on this unit are quite nice, with built-in memory and the ability to upgrade with a microSD card, ability to record programs (not a whole lot of use in the car, but useful if you have a home kit like I do). It's also really easy to record a song on the radio to save in memory, and the cradle has presets to access your favorite stations. I did find the navigation and menus somewhat confusing and often was lost trying to get to the right screen or find the right function. But I've certainly seen worse in this area. If you tend to easily get confused by electronics though, there probably are more user-friendly units than this one.
The biggest problem with this radio, and the reason I have to drop it to 3 stars is the locking issue. As others have mentioned, it does sometimes freeze up and there does not seem to be any way to reboot it, you just have to unplug it until the battery dies out (which can take awhile!) Why they don't have a simple reset button like most small electonics do is beyond me, it would make the problems with freezing far less frustrating. Suffice to say, if you get this radio, make sure you always bring some CDs along on a long trip so you aren't stuck with nothing to listen to if it freezes up (as it always seemed to do for me when I was on long drives.)
Horrible XM Unit
2008-04-18
I got this unit for my birthday just under a year ago.
The volume is much lower than the Roady2 I had before this. I have a pretty nice system in my car and i have to max out all of the settings on the unit AND turn the volume up all the way in my car to hear it loud enough.
Also everytime I turn the unit on all the settings and favorites have been erased so I have to turn up all of the settings everytime I start my car.
I mainly use this unit at work at my desk plugged into the home kit. When I answer the phone or leave my desk Ill pause the unit. Sometimes Ill build up to an hour of delay. Ill be listening and all of a sudden it jumps 40 minutes forward to the middle of a commercial and the worst part is IT WONT LET ME REWIND BACK!!
The one and only good thing ill say is the screen is very bright and easy to read at night in my car.
Overall this is a cheap unit. Since purchasing Ive read so many horrible reviews on this and would not recommend buying this unit.
Great Radio, but has limitations
2008-04-04
I got this radio for Christmas. It works great, if you know what to do. Some people say that it locks up, well, it does if you have it in the car cradle when you start it up. If it does lock up, just hold down the mode button and the volume button. The unit should reset. I don't know, but the car cradle makes it lock up. That's why I lift it up just enough to disengage it from the cradle. I turn it on, and then when it boots up, I push it in the cradle. This radio has the largest screen that I have seen in a portable. I haven't purchased the headphones, but I am planning to during the Summer. If you can put up with the auto cradle messing up every now and then, this is a great car radio. What's best about it is that you can take it with you everywhere. It's very portable and smaller than an IPOD.
horrible

I sold this off after owning for 6 months. The concept was great, the execution was horrible.
CAN REBOOT when unit freezes!
2008-06-25
You can reboot the unit when it freezes (and it will freeze). Press the power/mode button and the volume up button (on side of unit) at the same time for a few seconds. Unit will then reboot.
I use my Delphi strictly in the car and rarely (if I want to finish listening to the oldie radio program--channel 164!) in the house. I really do love the unit. I have had mine for more than a year, and it has frozen up three times. Two of the three times in the last week, so I hope my radio is not tearing up. I am really pleased, so much that I gave another radio to my brother. It is a little time consuming to install...yes I actually installed both mine and my brothers. I can say that every time I get faster but it does take time. I really recommend it!!!
Bad design and quality
2008-06-20
I have bought the unit t use in my car. Delphi claims being an expert in automobile electronic.
however, the device is classical example how not to design car electronic. A lot bill and whistles but lucking of basic functionality:
1. Works only when plugged in. Battery is for... actually, I did not get what for. To use it as a MP3 player? So, if you need you plag in hte car for somehting else - you cannot use radio.
2. Complex and fancy interface. Absolutely not designed to work by sense. Sorry, but I have to look at road, not at the monitor.
3. A lot of other small inconveniences.
4. And finally, simply poor quality. From the beginning it was very noise when connected via AUX 3 mm plug and after a year it simply died on me. It is a software problem - it went in a strange state and I cannot even reset it. Turning off power would help - but it has battery I cannot remove. So this is what battery for!
Nice radio, but shop around...very wierd pricing.

Not sure why the prices for this are all over the place. List price is a laugh, I bought it from Crutchfield for $20 (the next week it was $40), most places it is around $65. My biggest complaint is Delphi doesn't include the home kit. Home much extra to include a power adapter, antenna, and a cheap little dock? Give us a break Delphi. The home kit is overpriced most places (sometimes more than the skyfi3!)
Othewise, very pleased with Skyfi3. Locks up once in a while (press mode and volume together), and had a little glitch getting it xm to recognize the radio. Use it mostly at home, but in the car I have an aux input for the radio, which car makers should make standard (how about it cost accountants!). The buttons on the car dock are badly designed.
My favorite feature is recording songs and whole channels for a period of time. The micro sd card is a must. Throw away the ear buds that come with it. I would give it 5 stars if they include a home dock next time around. Would be interested to know how well these units hold up over time. Seems fragile, but we'll see. I almost bought two to have a spare.
Unit worked for 60 days, now won't turn on
2008-05-06
I bought this unit for road trips, paid for the XM service for 3 months and now a few days past the warranty with 6ave (the seller I bought it through) it won't turn on anymore, fully charged and everything. I called Delphi and they want to trouble shoot and send me parts, since when did I become an electronics tech? I just want a unit that works, yet Delphi is taking the easy road for them. They will not replace the unit, only send parts. REDICULOUS! Now I have paid for XM that I cannot use...
