I have worked with hundreds of pregnant women before, during and after the birth of their babies and have seen the wonderful benefits that doing yoga while pregnant can have on your body, your birth experience, and your recovery from childbirth.
This DVD was specifically developed for women who have been practicing Vinyasa flow, Ashtanga, or Power Yoga before they were pregnant but can also be used for women who practice other forms of yoga or beginners who wish to build strength and flexibility. If you are a beginner please use the 3rd trimester modifications demonstrated by Binna. This will allow you to gain strength and flexibility safely and once you feel comfortable with the routine you can move to the 1st or 2nd trimester modifications as appropriate.
Although yoga is a safe form of exercise for pregnant women, every woman's body is different and requires attention and awareness during any exercise to ensure the body's well being. Please obtain permission from your doctor, midwife or health provider before doing any prenatal exercise and most important, listen to your body.

Challenging workout
2008-07-07
Thanks to the other reviews on this site I chose this prenatal yoga DVD. This DVD is an excellent challenge and perfect for someone who is in great shape and wants to continue their high activity levels while being pregnant. FYI- The practice session is about 90 minutes.
Tough and satisfying!

On pregnancy #1 I bought several DVDs such as Shiva Rea's prenatal yoga and Kathy Smith's preganancy workout. For an exercise enthusiast such as myself, those DVDs were way too easy, and doing them fealt like a waste of precious gym time.
Now with #2, I almost came to peace with the notion that I will have to give up Power Yoga during my pregnancy again, but reading the reviews for this DVD made me feel like there may still be hope. And indeed, after finishing this very long (over an hour, which is just great for me!) workout, I was all smiles (and sweat), and I am so happy that I bought this DVD.
I enjoyed that it was hard and it made the relaxation better.
It is definitely for experienced Yogis or other types of practitioners - it's not tough yoga-wise, but it is quite hard physically as there are many, MANY squats and lounges engaged, and doing them right is quite challenging. For those looking for a more friendly, calming workout, Shiva Rea's will be very suitable (she is lovely).
Also, from my experience from giving birth, the postures in this DVD are truely helpful when at birth, and having strong thigh muscles is a great help for any of us who don't wish to spend ALL of the labour lying on a bed post-epidural.
I haven't tried the partner yoga sequence of the DVD yet, but it seems like a good addition.
In short - if you are looking for a challenge, buy this!
Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga - Lives Up to Its Hype
2008-07-06
I've been practicing yoga for 2 years about 4 times a week, and I'm now in my 8th month of pregnancy. Up until now I've been attending my regular vinyasa yoga classes along with prenatal classes. I started supplementing these workouts with the Wolfe video in my 6th month. The video was challenging in spots even for me. She gives lots of modifications for the different trimesters, but she definitely presents a workout designed to increase strength and improve cardio performance. As a bonus, the video also includes a workout to be done with a partner that leads you through various stretches that give great relief for your back and shoulders. The only misfire is the brief workout by the "founder" of this form of prenatal yoga included as a demonstration of his prowess. They should delete that from any future editions of this video.
A Must for any expecting Vinyasa Yoga Instructor

I found this DVD to be both informative & challenging. Not suitable for a beginner who is expecting. Easy to follow & moves through a typical Vinyasa class. Enjoy :)
