Very good value for money
2008-05-09
This product is a very good value for money. For the price I was not expecting an A class system, so this product is everything I expected and I am certainly not disappointed. If you want a decent system for a good price then this is a deal.
Great Speakers for the Price

These Speakers sound great, I bought the Logitech X240 before these and had to return them because of annoying interference noise and too much bass. These speakers sound balanced, and have enough power for my needs.
Really obnoxious lack of mid-range
2008-04-01
There's a range of low-mid frequencies that are too high for the sub and too low for the main 2" speakers to handle without distorting the hell out of them. It makes listening to music with relatively low acoustic string instrument notes really unpleasant. Not what I paid for; I would like to be able to listen to Joanna Newsom without cringing every time, please. Not sure I'm ever buying a Creative product again.
Best in this price range, even with the Blue beacon

I bought these about a week ago from a local retailer for $20 after rebates. I was not expecting much at this price, but they have a very nice clean crisp sound with plenty of bass and lots of detail on the highs. At first I did not like the sound until I realized I was just used to the muddy flat sound of my old Altec Lansings, now I know these are much closer to the intended sound. I can also hear small details that were not there before, like soft cymbols or background effects. The volume capability is more than enough with 60 total Watts and seperate bass control, which is a more important feature that I ever thought before. I like to play music while I'm working and these speakers do an excellent job. When first hooking them up it is best to set everything to middle levels, particularly computer output level and bass level on the subwoofer, otherwise you could induce distortion and blame it on the speakers. Now for the BAD parts, the BLUE LED is indeed way too bright and distracting even in a well lit room. And some sort of sleep mode would have been nice so you would not have to turn these things on and off seperately from the computer. But I would still buy these again and highly recomend them to anyone.
Great sound for the package!

I finally decided to replace an older set of Labtec speakers but was not looking to spend a lot of money. I wanted a simple set of desktop speakers to play music while I work on the computer or provide sound for my elementary school kids when they play their learning games. I don't have any expertise on sound quality but would definitely be basing my decision on how pleasing the sound was to me. Having a strong base is a preference.
I visited several of the major electronic retailers and office supply stores. I found the Altec Lansing BXR1121 set for $29.99 included a subwoofer. Seemed like a good price and I've always known the Altec Lansing name to be considered good quality so I gave them a try.
Before opening the box I looked at some reviews online and found most of them to be favorable. With everything installed I tried various music genre. Initially I was satisfied because they were noticeable better then the Labtecs but as I continued testing the speakers range, and volume control I lost that satisfaction. At the highest volume level the sound noticeably distorted and I didn't feel the sound was as crisp as I wanted so I kept shopping.
A week later I found the Creative Inspire T3100 2.1 set on sale for $19.99 with rebates (reg. $49.99). Before going to the store I again looked at reviews online and found very similar comments. They have twice the amount of RMS power (29 watts) and peak power (60 watts) then the Altec Lansing's so for $10 less I figured I couldn't go wrong. I immediately noticed a difference and it was much more to my liking. The sound was fuller, richer and the base was deeper and resonated more. The 1" tweeters and 2" midrange speakers on the satelite speakers probably help. The "Dynamic Bass" and "Rich Sound" descriptions found on the box are more then accurate. Their smaller footprint was also attractive.
I'm sure there may be better 2.1 systems out there in the $20-$50 range but I wasn't going to spend any more time looking. If you can find these on sale for 19.99 they are a steal.
Hmm..

I bought this speaker a year ago as a starter for 2.1 speakers. I'm surprised to see that it is one of the top selling speakers, because the quality is not that good for me.
Pros:
-looks very nice on my desk
-easy to use, adjust volume
-can control bass with subwoofer nobs
Cons:
-really lacks mid-range and sounds muddy.
-sounds distorted when turned up loud.
-total system power is 60 watts, that means this speaker has a big limit when you want louder or better sounds.
If you want top-notch speakers, don't buy this speaker. With 30 dollars, I would rather buy JBL speaker without subwoofer than this one.
Don't Like Them

I bought these about five months ago to replace some nice Creative Lab stereo speakers.
Pros:
Stylish, strong (for its size) sub, clear sound. good for gaming.
Cons:
1. Sub woofer controls on the floor.
2. Do not get loud. I've read reviews where people described these as having a good loud sound. They sound terrible when turned up loud. The volume nob only goes about half-way around its rotation before the sound turns to total garbage. This is true to varying degrees with ALL types of music and sound environments. The amp has the power, but the speakers can not handle it.
3. Bad grounding issues. Plug in your headphones and expect a nasty thump or snap. Given my 180 dollar sennheisers, I don't trust these at all.
Resolutions: Don't know. Don't buy these. For any price. You will be disappointed if you know good sound. They look nice, but won't fill a room.
Great sound for little cost

This has been a great product for the cost. Sound is clear, I've had no problem with buzzing even when its cranked. As good as the system that these replaced, and at 25% of the cost. The only thing I dislike about these is that the subwoofer control is on the back of the subwoofer.
Very good sound!

These are quality 2.1 channel PC speakers, with a medium-tech look yet simple appearance, and the subwoofer--new to my PC setup--is impressive, adding depth to any of the sound [news, sound bites, auditioning audio CDs BEFORE buying and the like, etc.] the I come across voluntarily or otherwise while on the Internet. They're also very good playing audio CDs through the PC. The product setup is intuitive, fast, plus they're well built and look good too! Highly recommended!!!!!
Good for the price.

Very good speakers and awesome sound. There is a problem with the cables becouse they don;t go all in and sometimes come off. Otherwise these speakers are the best for the price.
