Don't waste your money 2007-07-11
This is a really nice looking little web cam but that's about the only positive thing I can say about it.

The picture quality isn't very good and when you're talking the lips don't sync with the video.

I have a much older web cam made my Logitec that works much better and has much better sound.

It also took a long time to install the software and after installation it had to download and install updates which didn't seem to improve the performance at all.

Not Bad 2007-03-17
I love the picture quality. It's quite clear and sharp - better than more expensive webcams that I have seen. It isn't fuzzy in the slightest. However, when using it over the internet (as most folks do with webcams), the lag is rather bad. If you speak, for example, you'll see your lips move a good 30 seconds to a minute or so later. Though, it does come with this spiffy "Orb" feature. You can quite easily set it up so that you can see pictures on your webcam from any internet connected computer at any time, or set it to alert you via email if anything moves in the room it's in. Also, the little clip holds the webcam on a laptop quite securely, and though it doesn't turn left or right, you can easily place it left or right on the laptop. Overall, I'm quite pleased with it.

Not that great 2007-02-12
It's small and the picture quality is ok. One main problem is the video lag, but that might be with all 15 fps cameras. I hate the fact that it needs all this installation software though. It should just plugin and work, especially with Vista. Bundled software and unnecessarily complicated drivers annoy me. Also the clip is too small, I have a thinkpad t60 and it's not big enough to fit over the top edge. I'm going to return it.

No autofocus - poor picture quality 2007-02-07
third party software bundle rquires two resident programs sitting in you memory (it will get during installation into your system registry and load every time you start your PC) they say it's free of charge but as you know there is only free cheese in mousetrap.
major cons is not existing autofocus. tiny focus adjusting ring is awkward to operate and at the end you still can't quite put it in sharp focus.
cable is like 1.5 ft long. i guess it's ok for laptop but if you wanna use it for something else - just forget it, clip is also good for laptop screen only and not for anything else.
automatic light adustement is just plain sucks. manual is a bit better but if you have to re-adjusted evry time you wanna use your webcam it becomes pain in the a**.
i have two a4tech cheapper webcams without any third party useless software and with autofocus and they are way better than creative. SHAME ON YOU CREATIVE! i thought you could do better!

DOA poor customer service 2007-01-16
Unfortunately for me, I received this camera DOA. I have been in contact with creative for over two weeks and they still will not issue me an RMA. They even told me, after I had registered, that the serial number I gave them could not be confirmed??!! By the time they do, I fear my camera will be out of warranty :-( If you get this camera and it works, then I would say enjoy, but if it doesn't, don't count on Creative to get it working for you.
Follow-up: I did finally manage to get an RMA and about a month after I sent it in I did get a new camera. I am unsure whether I want to open it and try again, or just get rid of it. The software (which I had installed originally) really slowed down my computer especially at startup. I have Windows XP. Has anyone else had that problem?

Super cam.... 2008-03-30
Real nice laptop webcam... Got this for a real good nice deal... I have been using this for more than an year... Completely satisfied... I got a real good creative headset with mic for free along with this... I rate this 10/10... Recommended buy if you need an external webcam for ur laptop...

Terrible video quality 2008-02-22
I got a Creative Labs Live! Cam Notebook Pro. I was amazed by how terrible it was and I returned it.

The camera can't handle high light (like outdoors or bright indoor light) and it can't handle low light (like just light from the screen). It also has far too little dynamic range, so either the image has to be too dark or the bright parts have to wash out. The automatic exposure and white balance ends up with wildly different and ridiculous settings on different occasions for no apparent reason whatsoever. The video displays a lot of blocky artifacts, as if it's highly compressed, probably because despite mentioning USB 2 it is not a high speed device. It was able to get a good image sometimes, like when there's a stationary scene with uniform subdued lighting, but performance is generally unacceptable.

My favourite thing about the cam was its impressively small size. I also liked VideoFX although it had incompatibility issues and the effects where I'm supposed to appear in front of a different background didn't work.

Overall, this webcam is so horrible that it's not even worth it when steeply discounted, and it seriously hurts my perception of the Creative Labs brand.

Not happy 2008-01-28
I had another webcam from creative and that was awesome but even though this one is costlier I dont like the quality of this webcam. It doesnt adjust to different light conditions automatically and you have to open the software center and then manually adjust the brightness everytime u have little changes in the light conditions.

Good Value for Price 2008-01-28
Great picture for the money. I like the smart face tracking and the powergrip keeps it secure on the laptop.

It's a NOTEBOOK cam 2007-07-20
Just got this new cam the other day, had to replace my old GE cam, not compatible with Vista :( . - And what a difference it makes!!! Clear, sharp pics, no jagging (have the face tracking OFF) and no lag (well you can adjust fast or better pic quality). Does not come with a mic, but headset (cheap one though) is included. Install was a piece of cake (and I am nowhere near being an IT pro). Only con: the advance video fx utility does not work really, but I don't need that anyway.
It's handy, has a pouch to carry around, love the short cable (it IS meant for a notebook!!!) and the clip is tight enough for my Acer laptop. The focus is easy to set, but I did not install the extra picture editing software, have no need for that!
Overall: You'll get what you pay for, and for $15 there is really NO reason to complain!!!!
