Editorial Review
Acceleratorâ„¢ Speed and Distance Watch SeriesHikerGreat for monitoring your daily speed and distance performance on the trail.Looking for a way to gauge your progress in running or exercise walking, but tired of inaccurate and limiting pedometers, battery killing GPS and annoying food pods? For discriminating consumers who crave more than the typical pedometer can offer, Tech 40â„¢ presents the Accelerator watch series. Far more accurate than a typical pedometer that relies on a pendulum to count steps, the Accelerator series incorporates advanced accelerometer technology. The results is a watch that "knows" the difference between short and long strides and records, calculates, and displays all measurements via the wrist watch - no need for a foot pod. Accelerator doesn't just stop at counting steps, it also provides distance, speed, and calories burned during exercise so you can track your progress.

Nice but Confusing product
2008-02-17
The watch looked nice but it is very confusing to figure out how to set it up in order for it to calculate the distance traveled.
Can't believe it works this well!

Excellent alternative to more expensive GPS's and old-fashioned 'clickety-clack' pedometers. I can vouch for the 95% accuracy. I don't like the auto-resetting function of the pedometer but maybe I just haven't figured out how to use it properly. I do like how it records data by date. Prior to use, you do need some patience and a 9-yr old child to help teach and motivate you to figure out most functions. I would ask Tech4O to come up with a model that has a better crystal. Mine is pretty scratched up and I might pay $50 more for one that's more scratch-resistant.
Just received this watch....

So far, it is a nice watch, but as another reviewer stated, it is not exactly attractive. Would be nice if it was more streamlined or feminine in appearance. Clunky. Also, the band end comes out of the single loop several times a day, which is something that my husband does not experience with his Timex Ironman watch. That wristband stays put. On the positive, the amenities are really great and i am pleased with the functions offered. The screen is easy to read.
I love this watch!

I've been wearing this watch now for about 6 months and I love it! Don't think of it as a watch as much as a small computer on your wrist. The instruction manual isn't very user friendly, but the watch is easy to figure out if you just play with it. Bottom right button turns on the pedometer...press top right button to start. Viola! I wear this watch when we go on vacation or hiking to know how exactly many miles we've walked. I also use this to exercise outside...its great for keeping track of your steps, milage, and total exercise time. It can tell if you are walking or running (unlike a pedometer) so this is great for exercising. Highly recommended.
great gift for moms

my wife has used this watch now for a month AND ABOUT 70 MILES. i got it for her (or i should say our children got it for her) on mother's day. we set out immediately to use it on our walks. after making adjustments with it a few times and setting up the correct sensitivity(hers is 3)it works every time within the written 5% accuracy. in fact we once used it and found that it was about 10% off and thought it was broken, but after rolling up her sweatshirt sleeve, we found it to be within the 5% again. i am not sure whether it times out or not quite frankly since we use it for long walks ..but it is great for someone who wants to know how much they are walking on a daily basis INSIDE AND OUT. i use a gps unit and she has regularly been about 2-3% off ...BUT I CANNOT USE MINE INSIDE WHICH I THINK GIVES THIS AN EDGE : AS WELL THE COST IS GREAT!!
Disappointed with the step counter

I bought this product hoping it would accumulate the steps/day to motivate me to walk more. It was a bummer to see after I've started the pedometer steps that it would go into sleep mode and that all the steps were not counted. You have to hit start button after sitting down from driving or when at rest to start the count again. It became a bigger nuisance and high maintenance to keep checking if it was not tabulating or not! At night it would chirp intermittedly and hard to follow the instructions to turn that feature off. I'm going for an Omron as recommended by friends instead!
Pedometer watch

I like this product. Even though the instructions seem overly complicated, the product itself is pretty simple to set and use. I like that I am able to count calories, steps, distances, and much more. The watch is very functional for everday usage or for specific training purposes.
Works for me!

There were three things I was looking to buy: a watch, an alarm clock, and a pedometer. I started with the pedometer (pm), as I was anxious to begin an exercise routine, and found this watch. Now, I have all 3-in-one for a good price. I agree about the sleep funtion on the pm - not convenient. And the fact that you have to keep your arm swinging to get a step count on the pm means I can't carry much on that arm - again, not convenient. However, these are my only complaints about the watch. You get a lot of functionality for the price, and while the instructions are a little daunting at first, it's nothing you can't deal with if you just take it step by step. I love being able to track my time, speed, distance, and calories for my morning sprint - very motivating.
On a side note, I did buy the men's watch for my hubby, who just wanted a time piece. He does complain about the short strap (he's 6'2" and about 280) and the fact that he's always accidently pressing one of the buttons. I've not experienced that.
Exercise Enthusiast With So Little Time

I would have rated the product 5 stars as far as quality, but the reviews that I read berfore ordering were correct - the instructions were complex for setting up the device. As one comfortable with computers and am not intimadated by things such as this I took a chance. I could have figured the instructions out if I had enough time, but it just was not worth it to me - I would rather be out walking or hiking than trying to figure it out so I returned it.
Great watch!

I love this watch. So much better than wearing a pedometer. The only bad thing I can think of to say about it is the face is a little too big for my wrist, but I am a petite person. I wear it whenever I run or hike and after adjusting the sensitivity it works perfectly.
