Best Photo Printer available for the Price 2008-04-23
For a long while I have looked for a good photo printer. Well, I finally found it in the Pixma Pro9000. I've had Hp printers prior to this one. They performed okay but the color was never of good quality.
Trying to get Hp support is like trying to find "a needle in a hay stack." After discovering that Hp's solution to VISTA support was to "upgrade your product," I sure did. I made sure I didn't buy a Hp again.
Canon support is excellent. I contacted them prior to purchase about OS support and drivers. Their response was fast and complete. This printer has performed excellent with vivid colorfully prints with excellent quality and its fast. I love the front loading of paper.
This printer produces professional quality prints without effort. The operation is smooth and competent. I have used various papers, Ilford, Hp, Kodak and Royal Brites; various sizes from 4X6, 8x10, 8.5x11 and 13x19: various finishes--High Gloss, simi-gloss and matt art paper. The output is seamless and consistent and prints are breathtaking.
If you want control of your photo work with professional quality, this is the printer for you. I did examine other manufactures but settled on this one. The printer is large but you must expect it to print 13x19.

Canon Pixma Pro 9000 an excellent photo printer 2008-04-18
We used to own a Hewlett Packard photo inkejet printer (the exact model number escapes me, but it was a 3 ink cartridge printer), which was good for what we were using it for at the time. However, when it died on us all of a sudden and it could not be repaired, I started researching printers. It came down to this one or the Epson 1800. Most of the reviews I read at that time said the Epson print head clogs easily and wastes a lot of ink. With the price of ink cartridges at around $100 for a full set I didn't want to be buying them all the time, so I chose this printer.
Now I don't know whether what they said about the Epson is true or not. Some people swear by Canon, some swear by Epson. All I can tell you is that the quality of the 81/2 x 11 pictures that I print on this printer are so far and above in quality from what I used to get on my HP that, for me, that I am extremely happy with my decision.
Its much bigger than my old HP (it takes up almost the whole top of the cabinet!) but its relatively quiet, smooth, and fast. If I remember correctly, at the time I bought this printer, it was about $100 cheaper than the Epson. If you're serious about printing excellent quality photos, you can't go wrong with this printer.

PixmaPro 9000 Great Results 2008-04-11
I bought a PixmaPro 9000 in late March. I own a Canon i960 which has produced great 8X10 and 8.5Xll prints including many entered in local camera club competition. The larger Pro 9000 images are every bit as good as those from the i960 using the Canon Easy Photo print program. Printing from Photoshop Elements, the best results come with Color Management turned off ("none") and I like the Colormetric look rather than the Perceptual. The results on Canon Photo Paper Pro are supurb but the paper is pricy. I have successfully used both Ilford and Brilliant (available from Calumet Photo) papers. The Brilliant is available 11x17 so I can print an 11x14 and only trim one side to mount it on an 11x14 board. It is also a real bargain at $ 30.00 for 25 sheets of 11x17. I thought the initial prints were too blue so I turned off Auto Color and manually reduced the Blue slider -12 and got nice gray shadows without too much blue in them. I would recommend this machine to anyone wanting a larger printer that is easy to set up and use and is willing to make a few test prints to get their color preferences on the button.

Great value for the price 2008-04-08
Have used both Canon and Epson printers in the past for photography. This is by far the most superior home printer for photography I've had. I use it with a Mac G5 running Leopard and it works beautifully. Easy to set up and get started. Those faint horizontal lines that constantly show up in prints where one color is dominant are no where to be seen on prints from this machine. I highly recommend this one.

Love it! 2008-04-05
I purchased this printer after my wide format Epson completely died on me after months of driving me crazy with print-heads clogging and paper feeding problem (though I did have this printer for almost 5 years with no problems)! Nonetheless, this Cannon Pro 9000 has been nothing less than amazing so far. I am such a sucker for the cartridges that actually LIGHT UP when inserted correctly. The print quality is amazing, it was easy to set up, and it has no problems feeding all kinds of paper (including transparencies). I highly recomment it. Only 'downside' (if you can even call it that) is that the printer is quite large and heavy, but all of its parts (paper feed and tray) fold up nicely when not in use.

Canon Pixma Pro9000 2008-04-01
So far I am very happy with this purchase. It set-up with ease. I didn't have any problems setting it up with the Vista OS. Color prints took a little bit of fine tuning to get the results I was looking for but now prints are great. Black and white prints look great. Especially on Ilfords new Silk Gallerie paper.

The color tone is too warm ( too red in general). I spoke with canon tech and I need to adjust the color to find right tone. I don't knopw this is the general problem or only my printer has this issue?Canon Pixma Pro9000 Photo Quality Inkjet Printer

Pixma Pro9000 is all that I hoped it would be 2008-03-26
This thing is huge! But it's so great for doing larger paper. I do custom invitations and the more I can print per sheet the better. Great quality printing and software is easy to use as well. I'm very happy with the purchase. I am having a hard time figuring out the "borderless" printing but I'm sure with some research it will work out.

Use of printer cartridges 2008-03-23
In two months time, I have had to replace 2 color cartridges in my new printer (Canon Pixma 9000 Pro) and now another 2 are nearly empty. All totaled, I have printed about 50 letter size contact sheets to identify pictures on my CD's, that's IT! And many of those pages were only half filled with little thumbnails. Did my new printer come with old ink, or is this the way it is going to go? My old HP printers never used that much ink.
