Usable--if you can open it

In the past, I have been very satisfied with Lexar JumpDrives. Seeing that they no longer create the Sport model, I thought I would try the Lightning. To be honest, almost all usb drives are becoming affordable, putting massive amounts of memory at your fingertips. So, I thought, why not get a sleek looking model that (with a metal casing) is sure to be durable? Lightning fulfills all of these criteria, however, the flaw that I found came right along with its sleek casing: the near impossibility of getting the darned cap off--there is no way to grip it. Seriously, I fought with it for fifteen minutes the first time I tried to use it; not the best for trying to do a quick download.
It pays for itself in increase productivity

This is one very fast jump drive
I use it all the time at work to transfer large files.....my work buddies are always amazed at the speed. I wish I had the 8gb version, but the price increase was too much
One tip: If you don't need the "PowerToGo" software, you can temporarily remove it (copy it to your hard drive).
Some computers (like photo kiosks) would not let the "PowerToGo" software run,,,,thus I couldn't access files. So simply remove this softare (format the Lexar) and you'll have a nice clean memory stick.
btw if you're worrying about the cap comming off...don't....it seats very well and this stick is very well made
Smegma prospers FAR & WIDE with this Flash Drive

EXCELLENT product & GREAT company -- DAMN, should've waited for 8 or 16 gB.
You can actually carry your OS to a friend's computer and run there -- COOL with synchronizing to HOME system, and SECURE.
great device!

I do like the Lexar 4GB Lightning JumpDrive. It is fast. I have not used the on board programs to date. The cap does not stay on the other end if it's inserted into a USB port. I just noticed it slowly pops off over time.
Great product, shame about Amazon

Having purchased (and been charged for), a bundled purchase of two JumpDrives, I was told by Amazon that the second was unavailable. Received an e-mail from Amazon to say I wasn't going to be charged - lip service.
Anyway, the Lexar product works well. I wish that Amazon's system was as effective.

This is my second Lexar Lightning drive, I originally bought a 1 GB drive. It worked so well that when I wanted more memory I bought the 4 GB drive. It is very fast, and does everything I want it to do. Would buy again. Very dependable.
It is decent

I bought this because of its durability. It is fast enough. I find that the program that is on it is ok, but I dont use it very often. But at least when you open it up it gives you the option to open up the documents section instead of running the program. So even if you dont need to run a application it works to your liking. For that reason I would say that it is a good product. I think the only thing that I might like to see come with it is a carrying strap or something to help lug it around.
Blazing speed and highly durable!

I've tried many a jumpdrive in my day since I work in the computer field. After reviewing many, I decided to try the Lexar 4 GB Lightning and am extremely impressed. The first thing I noticed was how durable it felt and looked. The shiny casing is nice, but when you hold it, you just know it's more durable than most any other jump drive on the market.
This is the fastest jump drive I've ever used. Many jump drives slow way down when transferring small files, except for this one. This one is blazing fast with both small AND large files and/or folders.
I don't use the built-in software, choosing instead to use freeware synchronization software.
All in all, I highly recommend this jump drive.
Lots of storage... but inconvenient at times

I used this flash drive for about 6 months for general files that I wanted to move from one computer to another, or just to have as backup. I kept it on my keychain so I would always have it with me (never know when you'll want to take some files off somebody else's computer) and it was great for this and I was glad to have it on me many of these times. It seemed to be plenty fast enough and the 'in use' light was a nice touch, but the software that comes on it was annoying. It sometimes wanted things to be installed or updated, but honestly, I don't know much about this software, I am just looking for a small storage drive. At one point I had music files on the drive that I could never see were there from my home computer. My home computer said the drives were empty, then when I went on another computer, I saw the files sitting there...
Then finally last month the cover on top just totally fell apart into 3 pieces. Most likely because it was always in my pocket being knocked around and squished. I am now looking into getting a USB with retractable top and less software on it.
