COME ON! How hard can this be? 2008-11-27
I was a little more than bummed when my ipod and Sonic Impact iFusion speakers were stolen this summer. I just picked up the new 120 GB ipod last week, and have been searching everywhere for the best portable speaker system for sharing music, camping, etc. I wanted something with a little more punch this time, and I was excited to find a speaker dock with AM/FM capabilities, too. This little iMove is no iFusion, let me tell you. The iFusion impressed me with sound quality right away - granted you give up volume and bass response with the rechargable battery, but the sound was crisp and clear. This little memorex sounded like one of my kids' toys. The treble and bass were tinny and distorted at every volume - especially high, there were strange hums and vibrations, and the radio reception was terrible. Last but not least, there is no attachment to support an ipod classic, so the ipod rests directly on the 30 pin connector; I'm sure that wouldn't last very long. I returned it the next day, and ordered the Lasonic i931... it looks pretty promising. I'll be posting a review as soon as it comes in, because frankly, I can't believe how hard it is to find a quality portable speaker system for an ipod. I mean, to me a built in tuner seems to be a no brainer! And all Sony offers is a boombox with a CD player as well (?). What's the point of having an MP3 player, if you're just going to lug around your whole CD collection? COME ON. (The guy in the $3000 suit better start doing his "Gob".) The only reason I gave the iMove one star, is because it was easy to return, and there was no restocking fee - (maybe that star actually belongs to Circuit City.) If you want a compact portable unit with decent sound quality, I'd go back to the Sonic Impact iF2 - but again... no tuner and low volume. Life is short. Enjoy your music.
Peace.

Don't waste your money 2007-12-27
I was given this as a gift for Christmas. The inserts for the different Ipods are hard to install and remove, which is a pain if you want to share this with someone who has a different model Ipod than you. The sound quality is poor. Very tinny with no tone controls. The SRS WOW seems to run all the time which makes everything sound like it was recorded in a wash tub. When playing at a louder volume (like you might need to when using it outdoors) the sound is distorted and the Ipod actually rattles in the holder.
I suppose if you are going to be playing this at very low volumes, it might be okay, but I will be looking to spend a few more bucks and get a better unit.
What really is rotten about this whole genre of products is that you can buy a decent sounding CD boombox for under $50, but you can't seem to do the same for your Ipod.

not work for my ipod - wrong adapter 2007-09-16
we bought this at walmart - I have a new ipod nano, with a metal case; after reading a previous post, maybe these are different, but anyway...I can sit it on the dock w/o an adapter, and it works, but there is no support for it, so that wouldn't last long. I called the company to see if there was an adapter, and she said to take it back to the store. I have opted not to bother trying to get a new adapter.

Stopped playing my ipod! 2007-08-23
I ordered this in July to take camping so I could listen to my ipod, and it worked wonderfully! I used it only a couple of times during my camping trip, and then brought it home and took it on my deck to play outside, and it didn't play my ipod! It still charges the ipod, but when playing the songs, no sound comes out! I guess it just stopped working! The radio still plays, and the sound is great, but I bought it to play my ipod and if it doesn't do that then it's worthless to me. Very disappointing that it stopped working after only a couple of times. I've owned this boombox for less than one month, and already have this trouble, and I've taken excellent care of it, so it's nothing I did. Maybe I got a bad one???

Great Sound / Loud Enough for "By the Pool" 2007-06-24
I needed a 'portable' radio to take outside by the pool for my ipod. I purchased this radio with hesitation not sure if it could provide the volume necessary. When i saw the price, i took the calculated chance and it worked beautifully. The sound is really clear and it works great. I will probably look for more memorex / ipod related products. i'm the kind that will stick to a brand if it find its a good product.

super for the price 2007-05-13

#2 in our failed attempts at iPod Speakers 2007-02-05
Easy enough to use, the docking is simple, easy to move around... from the outside of the box everything seems ideal. A little steep for a pair of speakers, but still half the price of some of its competitors.

Then we plugged it in. This box vibrates at moderate volume. For clarification, I'm 33 and can still hear dog whistles and picture tubes, I've taken pretty good care of my ears: "Moderate" to me is not very loud.

The speakers vibrate the housing in such a way that they generate a buzz through the plastic parts that you usually only hear when the bass is really low or the volume really high.

Its a dealbreaker, for 100 dollars you can get a really nice set of speakers for a PC... I don't think it's too much to ask for a decent set of iPod speakers.

Memorex Imove sounds and works very good. 2006-12-30
I purchased 2 of these, 1 for my nephew Brian Da Lion and 1 for my 8yr. old niece Genie The Dancin Beanie, and I am amazed at how easy it is to work and THEY SOUND great. I have good knowledge of digital music and would have to say this product is top notch. I am almost thinking of getting myself one, but if this can sound so good id have to believe the more expensive 160.00 dollar altec would probly sound awsome.

I listend to this indoors and it played quite loud, not sure how loudness would be outdoors in a noisy envirement as ive never tried it, but indoors it is a lot of fun and the radio came in crystal clear with the external pull up antenna, it was being used with an ipod 30gb video, the newest one. I give it an A- Because i havent really tried it out fully.

But i dont think you can go wrong with this one, the mp3s sounded as good as any cd boombox similar in size, the ipod fit snug in its cradle, And the built in carry handle is great for those kids on the go. PEACE

I spent a lot of time searching for some type of speakers that were not going to cost a lot for my daughters iPod Nano. I wanted to get something that would recharge the iPod while she was listening to it and something she could carry around.
The iMove comes with 8 adapters for most iPod's (4th Generation, iPod Photo, iPod w/Video, iPod mini, iPod nano). It did not come with an adapter for the new metal case iPod nano, but Memorex offers a free adapter if you call them at 1-800-321-6993.
The sound is descent and as good as anything I shopped for in the price range up to $120, has a digital display and comes with a radio which is nice as well.
