One of the biggest piece of junk... rather use 98 or xp home 2008-07-10
I really think this product deserves no stars at all, but 1 star is the lowest so... whatever. Anyway, buyers, I STRONGLY recommend you to not even look at windows XP MCE, because it's a HUGE piece of junk that microsoft has ever made. ok, so when I built my own computer and installed windows xp media center edition, i found out that whenever i watched a video clip and exit it out or minimize it when I finished watching it, it would just completely freeze or stop... the computer wouldn't do a thing. it's not just that, if i try to watch a video clip in whatever folder i have it saved on, it would just close out the folder I was at, and give out a message that says "Dr Watson debugger this and that.." simply saying that there is a bug in the folder and i can't navigate around it. so I couldn't even watch a video clip in that folder.
It's not just that, and I faced many other problems that I would end up filling the entire page listing every problems I had using winxp MCE... so buyers, I 100% guarantee that if you buy winxp mce, you'll probably have one of the biggest regret in your life after using it...

Rock solid and great functionality 2008-04-26
MCE 2005 is a great value for me. Even a year and one service pack after Vista came out I have no intention to upgrade. MCE 2005 provides me and my famiy a click-of-a-button ease to watch and record TV, play our favorite music and remember great moments by watching pictures, all from an easy remote-control. MCE 2005 has a clean, sleek and fast interface.

Of course, not everything can be done from the Media Center interface, but the intended stuff (TV, Pictures, Videos) are very easily accessed and used.
Other features may require minimizing the Media Center interface to access XP's desktop and start menu.

All in all, a good buy, even today.

XP MEDIA CENTER 2008-04-05
What could I relly say except. being a computer tech, Mesia Center is far better than Vista. I recieved my order quickley and will continue to use Amazon because they ROCK!!! Thanks again.

Genuinely good 2007-12-17
There's no way to review a familiar windows OS than "it works" and "does not work". This one works, and it's a genuine one. That's all you need to know if you need this.

Lousy stinking OS! 2007-11-02
I have found Media Center Edition to be quite unstable relative to XP home or Pro. Why, I don't know but two computers I have purchased with it are extrememly unstable and have to be reinstalled every 6 months. Avoid this OS like the plague! Literally!!!

MCE 2005 is where it's at. 2007-10-28
I have been using this for almost a year now. I run an Asus A8N-SLI, 1GB, AMD 4000+. I use it to store and use all media. Pictures, videos, ripped DVDs, etc. I watch and record Live TV every day and also own 2 v1 Linksys extenders that are used often. One wireless and one wired. This OS is stable and very functional. I use nVidia's pure platinum codec and that is all you need. OTA HDTV functionality works and looks great. I have 3 analog tuners distributed to the extenders also. I couldn't be happier with the entire setup and will not move to Vista until forced in a few years.

p.s., of course it comes with 2 discs! Who are these people?...

Installation Problems 2007-08-01
The Builders Version does not have a second SP2 disk even though it seems to be required for the installation. Some buyers were able to get it to install by removing and reinserting the single disk but I was not. Check on the web about installation problems due to missing .dll files before you buy this version.

Microsoft Media Center 2005 2007-07-18
This is a great software easy to instal and understand, for this and another OS you have to now about computers but if you going online you can find instructions how to instal OS, I give at 100%.
