Lower quality than the crap I put in it

Unbelievable... that's what I say every time I change my son's diaper and try to dispose of the diaper in this poorly designed diaper pail. Do not buy this pail! You will only end up giving your baby up for adoption or meditating the complexities of potty training a two month old. As to why, I won't keep you in suspense: this diaper pail never worked. Never. Never, not even once.
I've used this for four months and I knew there were going to be problems when I assembled it.
The lid contains the fan and filters, so the lid weighs three times as much as the rest of the pail. It's so top heavy that every time it's opened, the whole thing falls over.
That's if you can actually pry it open. The latching system is poorly designed and it makes it really difficult to open the lid - especially with a stinky diaper in your other hand. It latches so tightly that when you lift on the lid, you just pick up the whole diaper pail instead of opening it.
Guess what. It's just as hard to close as it is to open. It uses a clamping system that opens and closes the trash bag in the pail when you close the lid. Closing the lid is loud and makes the pail fall over (that's if you picked it up after you opened it).
Closing the lid also jars the pail so much that every time I closed it, the battery compartment would open and the batteries would pop out and the fan would stop working. This poses a real problem since the TWO battery compartments are accessed under the lid. Read that again. Now picture it in your head. Diaper in hand, you open the lid and insert the diaper; you close the lid; the batteries pop out and the fan stops; you open the lid; you pick the pail up off the floor (because opening it makes it fall over); you find the batteries and reinsert them into the battery compartment; you close the lid; the batteries come out and the fan stops working: rinse/repeat until your kid is potty trained.
I eventually taped the battery compartments closed and a green light came on when the lid was closed. I never heard the fan running so I can't say it ever worked anyway.
Whoever rated this better than a 1 star is insane. Maybe they don't actually have a baby, or they don't mind that uriney diaper smell, or they work for the company that sells this device.
No Smell + Enough Room for a Week's Worth of Diapers = Happy Mom

We purchased this diaper pail in anticipation of our first child. What attracted me to it was the fact that it had the air filter, and since this would be in the baby's room, having an odor-free room for him was very important to me. Not to mention that where I live, the city requires us all to use their trash bags exclusively. Their small bags fit perfectly into this pail, and can hold a week's worth of diapers.
I had also tried my cousin's Diaper Genie out and thought that the person who designed it had no children, and had no idea just how many diapers a baby can go through. It also seemed more expensive in the long run, given how you have to use their bags only. Tack that expense onto trash bags that I have to buy anyways, and I may as well do cloth diapers.
Set-up was simple, even for a pregnant lady. And given that neither hubby or I tend to read instructions, operation was quite easy too. I did worry initially that the loud sound of the crimping system and the lid closing would startle our son as it opened and shut, but he never did, and at 6 months, probably never will.
The pail is top-heavy when it is empty, but where we have ours set up- between his changing table and a wall- there really isn't a place for it to tip, so for us, this is a moot point.
This is the first time I've had to change the batteries and the filter, so I can't say how easy or difficult that will be yet.
So do I wish that the lid was quieter? Yes. Do I wish that the pail was better balanced? Sure. But for volume, and an odor-free room, my money's on this.
Don't bother with this one!

We bought this just over two weeks ago and it's already broken. I went to close it as usual today and found that the lid kept popping up. My husband checked it out and said that one of the hinges is broken. We previously had a diaper decor that broke after about a year and half of regular use. I found it frustrating that it broke after that time, but in my opinion it was a much better product than this one. We decided to try something new when we made this recent purchase because we liked the idea of not having to buy refills, but this has been more hassle than it's worth.
I LOVE THIS DIAPER PAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a daycare provider and at first I did not want to have a diaper pail, I have had them in the past with my own kids and found them to be the worst smelling things. This diaper pail is a must, I was not sure how it would work when I bought it but having 5 children in diapers everyday I had to have a place to put all the diapers. It is noisy when you close it but in my case this is fine. Mine is in our bathroom along with our wall mount diaper changing station. I have no oders from the pail ever and it gets changed everyday or everyother day depending on my days and kids. I would recommend this product to everyone who has diapers to get rid of. Thanks for making a great product.
Great Product

I haven't used this Item yet seeing how my lil one ain't due until June 1st, 2008. But, The girl I babysit for has this Diaper Pail and it's great..That's why I bought one too. You don't have to use a special type of trash bag, you just use regular trash bags. The pail locks in the smell and you never ever smell a dirty diaper. (I also put a sick up smell good in the pail to help). The filter fan is so quiet you never hear it. This diaper pail is great!!
Not that bad

The worst diaper pail I have ever used
2008-03-24
This diaper pail is absolutely the worst baby product I have ever purchased. I have owned it for about a month, and the device that supposedly pushes the diapers into the pail has fallen off about five times. Many diapers, if not heavy enough, are trapped in the top part of the pail. The "jaws," which are supposed to open to allow the diaper in and then close again, stay open most of the time, allowing the odors to escape into the room. The pail is very difficult to open with one hand, and other family members who have tried to use it have actually given up, thinking they were doing something wrong. I would not recommend this product to anybody.
bad, bad system

We received this as a shower gift and we will not be using it. It has the most INSANE clicking noise when you close it. I am not even going to waste my time putting a bag or batteries in it. Unfortunately the packaging is gone and I can't return. I am going to purchase a regular can with a lid and take the trash out daily. Why do we need these contraptions anyway??
What the heck?

I got this for my shower, and I finally get to use it and it doesnt even work. The green light never turned on or the fan. The batteries were brand new, so that wasnt the problem. I haven't even used it and it's broken! I have no receipt or packaging to return it and now I have to suffer with a broken pail. First years....what the heck?
High cost for low effectiveness

I bought this product in July and continue to run through batteries and filters. Even after changing the bags out frequently the odors are not eliminated. The product is supposed to be easy to dispose diapers in, but is in many cases frustrating. Would not advise buying this product.
