You get what you pay for, I should have know this, and this is a perfect example. I'm 210 lbs and only 5'9, so of course it think I am obese fat levels. But of course I'm a weight lifter and my body fat is at about 16 percent. This device. this device just goes by theinfo you enter into it, I doubt the thumb sensors are even hooked up to anything. It does include an alarm clock, so I guess its worth seven bucks.
Cheap, in all respects. 2008-02-20
I purchased this product thinking, "why not? It is cheap." Well boy was I right. The reading seems to be more a function of the info that you give it rather than any sort of body reading. My mom and I have the exact same readout (despite VERY different body types) as long as we enter the same info into the unit. This product was a severe letdown.
Consistent

Hard to say how accurate this is, but it is consistent. It isnt like some scales I have had that vary by as much as 3 or 4% during the course of a day. However, the accuracy is a big question. Would be nice to compare it to a caliper test and other products for that. Everyone who uses it seems to get a very high reading. Or, maybe we are all just severly overweight. Anyway, for as inexpensive as it is, you can at least judge accurately if your body fat is decreasing or increasing if nothing else.
