Solid Backup system

I've had this APC Battery Backup system for about 6 months. It has never failed to keep my computer furnished with electrical power when the power company's electric current is interrupted. I have no idea why I put up with these electrical interruptions before this purchase. I guess I was unsure what backup system to purchase. My home is near the construction of a new road. My electricity goes out often due to the construction of the road. This APC system works 100% of the time to keep my computer humming right along. I especially love this backup when the lights go out 3 or 4 times a day. Wow! If I need another backup it will be this APC system.

Using in an auto dealership, with multiple computers, a fax among others...works when when there is a short power outage...cannot afford to lose any data...highly recommrnded.
Works great with Windows Home Server 2008-06-21
Bought this for Windows Home Server CPU. It is relatively compact, well documented, and best of all: Windows Home Server recognizes without having to install the software. They do seem to overstimate how many minutes of backup power you have. I tested it by unpugging it and then watching in WHS how much battery was left. The battery is consumed fast! WHS is now set to shut down at certain percentage. I'm pretty sure from now on I'll be buying APC units.

One important point I did not get from the ad. description of the unit was the switching over from line power to battery back up power when the line power goes down. Turns out the switching is automatic and fast enough to sustain internet camera, modem and router operation. No software and external command is required for this task. The run time, of course, depends on what the loading is. It would be nice to provide a time vs. load plot in the instruction manual.

If you have a computer, and it needs electricity to run, which is pretty much every computer, you need this battery backup. I had "electrical noise" in my house that shut down the power for 5 seconds, and this thing kicked in and allowed me to finish my work without fear of not being able to save. I have a 22 inch Dell monitor and a dimension plugged into the backup, which gives me a full 23 minutes of juice in event of a blackout. The included software is programmable and allows each user to program what it wants the battery to do once it is on backup mode. It can safely shut down your computer in the event you are not there to shut it off personally.
Don't wait until you lose important work to buy a battery backup, get one immediately!

I did not use the backup power. I was able to replace the battery on the old one. When I read past reviews indicated that others do the same.

This item works very well. I've had them in the past and do still have others on other electronic equipment in my home. Very nice to have on the computers, PS3, PS2, etc. Nothing worst than losing info / game when power is disrupted. And power surges are going on daily almost everywhere.........even the minute ones can ruin something over time.

Arrived quickly, set it up in 5 minutes and although it hasn't tripped yet the security it provides when the lightning comes is valuable.
I wasn't able to use the auto backup feature as I didn't have a free USB slot, but even without that it gives you sufficient time to close down and save your work.
I bought this after a power surge nearly killed my hard disk and I wouldn't be without one now.

Biggest problem with this is listening to it beep while working when power is off
Feels great to know that we have the back up and won't damage equipment when power goes off and back on.
