Editorial Review
Imported from Nepal exclusively by Apollo's Axes, these Jaw Harps, also called Murchunga, are hand made - no two harps look exactly alike. Produce a very delicate sound. 10 1/2cm x 3 1/4 cm (sizes vary)

My #1 favorite jaw harp 2007-12-05
It took me a while to figure out how to get a good sound out of a jaw harp, but once I did, I became a huge fan. Here's the trick...

In order to get a good sound, you MUST hold it sturdy against your front teeth to create stability. I had been unwilling to do that since I didn't want to scratch the front surface of my teeth and possibly cause damage, so I came up with a method that works wonderful...

Place a thin (.5 cm) strip of duct tape along the surface of the frame where contact is made with the front teeth (which need to be slightly opened). Make sure that the tape does not touch the reed or interfere with the space where the air is moving. Once set up, you can hold it stable and create a variety of sounds. There is no discomfort, the volume is loud and the tape is not even visible (I used black duct tape).

Since discovering this trick, I've gotten over a dozen other jaw harps, and love to play them all. Each one has a unique tone and is fun to play. Personally, I prefer the tone of the smaller ones (vs the larger ones), and they are a little easier to play.
