Buggy when you upgrade 2007-04-22
Tough to upgrade if you have an earlier version on your machine. Also, poor layout of controls make clicking on wrong button really easy. They still have not gotten it right.

installation problems 2007-04-01
I have always used norton products to protect my computer but have always had problems getting it installed. I tried buying it on-line but never could install it and got reimbursed. Next bought at Best Buy and had problems. this time I got it through Amazon and still have not been able to install this Norton product. They do not have a phone number listed in the product to get help. I tried on-line and still no help. Waiting for a friend who is computer knowledgeable to help me. In the meantime, I do not have any protection since my last year ran out.

Upgrading to NSW 07 from NSW 04 was a bad idea 2007-03-28
This year, instead of renewing my subscription to Norton system Works 2004, I thought would be a good idea to bring it up to date. I purchased Norton system Works 2007. The 2004 version worked fine for several years, while the 07 version could not be installed on my XP professional PC. The Norton "consumer firewall" worked perfectly. They make it very hard to get effective help (unless you want to pay them $9.95 per call). Several sessions on their complementary "live chat" system proved useless. In the end, efforts to resolve the problems simply wasted an otherwise perfectly good weekend. I returned the product to Norton for a refund. Their return procedures indicate that I will wait six weeks to get my money back. Just wonderful!

USELESS WITH VISTA 2007-03-09
NSW 2007 (or 2006) premiere is useless when it comes to VISTA...and considering it comes pre-packaged with EVERY PC known to man (desktop or laptop) this is unforgiveable.
Norton AV has an update but that is a far cry from the ~$100 price of SystemWorks that MUST be uninstalled according to MS VISTA.
MAYBE with the 2008 version
Truth be known, System works has saved my aZZ a number of time since the 2003 version but now it is useless!

Once installed, works fine 2007-02-12
Tried to install with previous Norton Systemworks and Norton Internest Security on system. Had all kinds of problems. Microsoft add/remove software method would leave tidbits of programs and foul up install. Finally went to Symantec site and found Norton Removal tool which completely removed all Norton programs. Install went smoothly then and Systemworks Premier is working quite well. (Had same problem installing 2007 Internet Security and installed it first, then found that you have to remove Internet Sec. before installing Systemworks!! Removed IS, installed Systemworks and then reinstalled IS, now all Norton programs working well.)

WORRIED AND WARY OF NORTON! 2007-10-04

We have complained to our State's Consumer Protection Division about the Norton product.

Two weeks ago, we requested that they look into the product and Norton's approach in persuading its customers to renew their product promptly on an annual basis.

Year after year, we go through this motion--rush to purchase the online version or the new CD from our nearest office supplier.

For at least four years, we have used the Norton anti-virus protection.

Since then, we have noticed a pattern of serious computer crashes within a few days of the annual product expiration or renewal date.

The cost of repair each time runs us about $150.00. So year after year, we rush to purchase to by the new product update.

Until this year, we have wondered about the pattern of annual crashes, but concluded that our observation of the correlation of serious/expensive computer crash was not random, but predictable.

How did we draw our conclusion?

We own four computers, all of which are protected with the Norton software, but all computers do not share the same product copy.

We predicted on September 10, 2007 that our newest laptop computer would have a very serious Crash within a few days of the expiration date of the Norton Product. On September 18, 2007, about two or three days after receiving the expiration date notice it crashed.

This particular computer is still down. We just can't afford to keep on paying for repairs after undertaking the high cost of repairing another, and another.

Now bear in mind that, the one newest computer--disabled by Norton--is not frequently used.

In 2006, we were forced to replace one laptop, with a new one, due to our Norton experience.

We wondered then about the pattern of crashes, but simply dismissed it.

Well this year, we have decided to seek help, from our State's Consumer Protection Division in the Office of the Attorney General.

We have asked them to look into our long and persistent computer problem and its correlation based on the use of the Norton software and its expiration date.

Is the Norton problem observed, more widespread?

D.O.A. 2007-09-01
No wonder I couldn't find the '07 VISTA version at Sam's Club... or Walmart... or Best Buy! This appears to be bogus. Too bad, I have had Norton as my primary protection for 15 years. Guess they were bought by a company from China that substituted lead for silicone in their workstations.

Probably never again 2007-07-07
I have used Norton for years. Recent purchases of Norton Internet Security and Norton System Works will likely change that. First I bought Internet Security for one computer at a great price because I needed a renewal. Mistake. While my machine is a little out of date I went from a 3-4 minute start-up to over 10 minutes. There is also an annoying feature, which cannot be turned off where it keeps trying to load Ghost.

So for my other computer I buy System Works. Well it wants you to remove Zone Alarm. I chose not to. Figured it was an anti-competitive thing. I was right. When you leave Zone Alarm installed and a Zone Alarm waring comes up, if you are not there to click accept, in a few minutes it shuts the computer down. "Nice piece" of intentional anti-competitive programming. This first reared its' head during install. Tooking me a while to figure it out so I sat next to the maching all during install so there would be no shutdown. Has happened a few times since. So the "incapability" is clearly intentional.

It is a shame for such an industry leader to engage in such actions.....oh I forgot about Microsoft. Oh, didn't Symantec sue Microsoft for doing such things to them?

RUN AWAY! HIDE! NORTON WALKS THE EARTH! 2007-07-02
For many years I have been a Norton fan (After a disasterous experience with MacAfee - they walk the earth also). When I set up a wireless network, it was somewhat quirky but as long as my wife's laptop could see the internet and the printer and I could see the internet and printer, I could live without being able to share files.

Then my connection to the printer disappeared and I gritted my teeth and carried on because my wife still could do her work. But last week, my connection to the internet disappeared and my auto backup stopped working (actually, it may not have ever worked-I'm not sure). This I couldn't just tolerate because I do a lot of financial stuff on line, so I called in The Geek Squad (oh, the shame of having my neighbors see that Geekmobile Volkswagen outside my house!).

The guy took one look at my machine and said "there's your problem". He removed Norton (needed a special Norton Removal utility) and everything started working.

Never again. Norton and MacAfee - Perfect together but not on MY computer!

Worst program install ever 2007-05-12
I have been trying for over 10 hours to get Norton SystemWorks 2007 installed on my computer. It is an upgrade program, which forced me to uninstall ZoneAlarm, which I liked a lot. Even after uninstalling ZoneAlarm, Norton would not install properly. I had to use the Norton uninstall Tool to completely uninstall my old version and then attempt to install 2007. After countless re-starts of windows XP Pro, the program loaded, but would not start. It said I had to configure Anti-virus, but when I tried, it took me in circles. I followed the advice in their knowledge base to no avail. The program is absolutely useless.

I have over 20 years of experience in the computer world. I am usually able to overcome any problem, but this one had me at wits end. Norton has lost me as a customer forever. I am so frustrated that I never want to see another Symantec product. How dare they force me to uninstall a product that I like, is easy to use and actually works.

If you're thinking about buying SystemWorks, think again and stay away.
