I like the tuning fork it arrived in good condition and it produces a good vibration when struck on an activator.
Good for testing for bone fractures. 2007-11-08
I just purchased one of these, after borrowing one several times from a friend. I used it to test if a bone was broken. You make it vibrate (it makes almost no sound) and then hold it against the bone you think may be fractured. Mom mother (82) hit her hand and it still hurt several days later. This item clearly caused pain when pressed against her hand (the other hand caused no pain). We went to the ER for an x-ray and it was fractured. Recently my son hurt his thumb on the trapoline, and it showed no pain. A few days later he was fine. This may not be 100 percent accurate, but it seems like a good first aid item to spot possible fractures and breaks.

Of course, this fork is for testing vibration sense. They don't make them like they used to - this doesn't vibrate half as strongly as the one I bought in medical school back in 1979. It is NOT professional grade, as it claims to be.
