Editorial Review
TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE! The Mighty Bright XtraFlex Duet features two XtraFlex arms with independent heads with super LEDs, each 3-times brighter than a regular LED. You can use one light or two and because each head has a lense over the LED, the light spreads evenly with no hot spots. The arms are easily bent to point the light into any position and when done can be coiled up for compact storage. There are no bulbs to ever replace and because it's and LED there is an extra long battery life. It uses 3 AAA batteries which are not included.

light light 2008-04-09
As a professional musician I have worked with many types of lights. Love this one.

Not "Mighty Bright" 2008-03-07
I'm an adult taking music lessons and bought this based on recommendations here, and also because it's cordless, and I like to move my music stand around and practice in various locations, including out on the porch at night (in nice weather). I'm frankly very disappointed with the strangely faint blue light this casts on the sheet music. One or the other of the lights went out several times as I moved the heads around to illuminate dark spots on the sheet music. Then, after only 9-10 hours total use, it appears the batteries (the recommended high quality ones) have died. Strangely, my music teacher bought one after I did, and he told me he didn't like the light either. Based on reviews of other stand lights, I think I'm buying a cheap, goose-necked, plug-in clamp lamp for this purpose, and giving up on the high tech solutions.

A nice emergency music light 2008-02-28
This is a perfect light for someone who doesn't want to carry around a big stand light with a power cord, or plays in places where electrical outlets are unavailable. I picked this up because it's light, bright and cordless.

I've been in too many situations where I've had to chart a course through a sea of cords from traditional stand lights. This solves the problem. It weighs very little and is extremely compact. The LED's are bright for their size and easy to adjust. Battery life is good and the bulbs will never burn out.

That said, I think this light is best for low light situations where you need a little extra help reading the page. The coverage of the lights isn't quite broad enough to fully illuminate anything bigger than a two page sheet of music in a completely dark pit. For those situations, a traditional big stand light is in order. For everything else, the Mighty Bright works just fine.

Awesome Little Light 2008-01-14
I bought Christmas this for Mommabear, who likes to read after we go to bed. I don't particularly like the light on. She just clips this to the book and she has bright clean light. The dual LED head are bright and postionable. They also consume less power than a bulb-type light and if dropped won't blow out as easy.

Also with this it uses cheaper AAA batteries, than the standard coin-cells I see in most light.

The price was also great and well worth it. Now PoppaBear can snooze with out the light.

One of the best LED music lights 2007-01-03
I have gone through a long series of music stand lights over the last 30 years or so, always trying to find a 'better mousetrap'. I desired a small, lightweight illuminating device that could run without needing to be plugged in and would still take up a minimum of space in my instrument case(s).

My latest is the new XtraFlex Duet lamp from Mighty Bright, a company with lots of different models. The Duet is the dual lamp version of the regular XtraFlex lamp, being identical except for the extra light emitting head.

The base unit is just big enough to hold the battery comprised of three AAA alkaline cells, plus the spring clip mechanism that grabs onto your music stand, music folder, or book. Extending from the top are two narrow goosenecks that terminate in penny-sized LED heads, one super-bright white LED per head. Each head also has an on/off switch and a lens that distributes the LED light over a wide area of about the size of a normal page of music. The goosenecks are flexible enough to allow them to be easily wrapped around the base unit for storage, yet firm enough to support the weight of the LED heads in whatever position you place them.

Having a separate power switch for each head is a nice touch, because if you only need light from one head you can turn the other one off to save battery life. However, I suspect that Mighty Bright just put two gooseneck/head assemblies on a single base unit and shrugged their collective shoulders when they discovered this meant having two power switches. Hard to be sure, but it's the results that count in this case.

Battery life is good, since by my calculations and experiences with other AAA powered LED lamps, you should be able to get quite a few hours out of a battery set.

Brightness is not overwhelming, but is certainly adequate to make pages of music easily legible in even the darkest orchestra pits.

I find that this lamp does a better job of lighting a pair of side-by-side pages than my previous Mighty Bright lamp, the Mighty Bright Triple LED Music Stand Light, which was larger, heavier, could not reach over tall music as well, and was generally less flexible in different situations.

I would rate this lamp 5 stars, except for the slightly lower than desired build quality---professionals would like to see a device that is just a bit less typical-Chinese-plastic......for example, a pro who uses a lamp frequently, or a church that uses them twice a week for hand bell choir rehearsals and services (for example), might expect to change batteries often enough that they would appreciate beefed up version.

Still, a very nice lamp fairly priced at about $20.

Really provides light on the subject. Light weight and no cords make it a winner. The flexible goosenecks may droop after prolonged use...we'll see.

I love this light. It will give you plenty of light for your music when you're playing in dark situations. It's small and efficient. Great product.

Excellent product. Great value. 2008-06-19
I am very pleased with the lights. A lot easier than the electric stand lights with extension cords and having to find an electrical outlet. Plenty of light and so far battery life has not been a problem. I have tried other battery lights which were a much more expensive, and felt fortunate if the batteries lasted through one gig. We have had these for a month and have used them for 6 weddings so far. The batteries have lasted through several hours of use and the lights are still as bright as the first use. They are light-weight and compact for easy storage and transport, we carry them with us in our stand case.

GREAT!-Mighty Bright XtraFlex Duet Super LED Music Stand Light 2008-05-14
The Mighty Bright XtraFlex Duet Super LED Music Stand Light works great. I use it mainly for Piano Tuning because, many times, part of the piano where the strings are is darker on one side. I just clip on the Mighty Bright Light at a convenient point and it provides ample illumination. The direct light from 2 lights provides "modeling" on the strings from 2 angles. This way it is easier to find which of the 3 strings per note I need to zero in on. The Mighty Bright Light also comes in handy when I have to connect audio video cables. I can move the lights very easily to get the proper angle to see the writing on back of sets that is sometimes only a raised font with no contrasting ink on it. By casting shadows with the lights, I can see the writing. (A magnifying lens on the product would make it even better). The batteries seem to last pretty long, considering. Therefore I give it a 5-star rating!

Good product- very functional 2008-05-11
This lite is very flexible and gives you the ability to place adequate lighting on the entire page(s) of music.
