Fun, but too pricey

I purchased this toy for a birthday gift for my son who wanted it badly. I shopped around to get the best bargain and it was here at Amazon. It arrived very quickly in perfect condition. My son was extremely happy to receive the helmet, but after a week he lost interest. I'm glad I shopped around for the lowest price, because if I had paid what other merchants were charging, I would have felt very badly. In my opinion, there are other toys available which would give a higher return in fun and creativity for the cost.
Freakin' optimus prime!

This has got to be the most fun thing an adult can have lying around. It's custom fit--you fit it to you, and no one else who's head is bigger can wear it (until they adjust it, anyway). Put it on during meeting and comment in Optimus voice "i do not approve!"
Great Item!

This item is so much fun. Works great, tough. Received item for Halloween and still playing and enjoying it!!!
A successful gift!

I bought this for my 6 year old grandson for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. Many of the grownups were putting it on and using it too. You can turn the voice changer off if you want to, but hey, why would you want to?? It's a pretty cool toy.
Optimus saved the day!

It arrived in great shape and on time. I wish the voice changer was a little louder than the normal voice going into it but it helps if you talk like you're on helium!
I AM METROID PRIME

I wanted this for some time now.. $[...] at radioshack was a bit much so amazon saved my day. I'm 23 and I had too much fun annoying the friends with this already. At first it was hurting my nose but after adjustments it fits great and all i want is an Ironman version now!
Great gift, my father borrowed it (weird) and it remains at his house, i think he prank calls people with it.
Optimus Prime Voice Changer- neat idea, but not great quality for the money

We soon discovered that this would be awesome if there was a volume/microphone control. The pre-programmed phrases worked fine, but when the microphone was turned on to change my son's voice, it was too loud and full of static like a blown speaker. It sounded better if he took it off and spoke while it was further from his mouth, but that is no fun if he can't wear the helmet. We paid almost $50 dollars for this including shipping to get it by Christmas and my son only played with it a couple of times. If the glitches were corrected, it would be well worth the money, but as is, it was a waste.
Even my husband loved this one.

We couldn't keep the grownups off this one. Now my 28 year old son wants one! It was a huge hit with the 5 year old crowd too. It appears to be well made and has withstood the 5 year olds AND the 20 somethings.....
A Parent's Perspective-Not a Crash helmet

Ahh the joy of toys that make noise. My children each received one of these for a gift from their grandmother at Christmas. Here are some bullet points to know before purchasing:
- Does not work as a safety helmet, particularly on bikes and scooters.
- Actually, helmets make riding bikes and scooters more dangerous because they apparently make mailboxes and bushes invisible to the wearer.
- Voice box does not work after going into the tub, even if you were just playing that the transformers were fighting in the rain with the shower on.
- Two helmets, when hit together while being worn by a 6 and 10 year old "head butting" cause cracks in the plastic and make the voice boxes create a lovely screeching crackling noise.
- Helmets do not protect against younger brothers with large sticks
- Though the voice boxes make a variety of noises, they can turn parents into raving lunatics after just 1 hour of being worn by a 6 year old.
- 6 year olds apparently cannot see when wearing the helmet, and will create marks on your walls and doorframes from the "ricochet" they do while running through your home at top speed with the helmet on.
- Tying a blanket around your neck to create a "cape" while wearing helmet still does not allow flight off of the landing on the staircase. Helmet does not protect against the "landing" from such an attempt either.
Lucky for me (since I can't stand toys that make noise) the voice boxes on these were killed within the first month of ownership. They are now used as costuming and crash helmets by my not so bright children. For the price they are at now, if you can stand the noise until your kids kill it; these are great fun for little boys. (I haven't had the pleasure of testing on girls.)
Fun helmet

My son took the transformers helmet for Show n tell, he became a hero that day.
Its nice to see your voice change; they try all sorts of phrases to hear how their voice sounds.
