Very risky software

Using this product is like playing Russian Roulette. After using it my Incredimail application was worthless. Can destroy many important system settings.
Worst Software I've ever tried 2008-06-20
I thought I was smart getting rid of my Norton bulkware, but this software suite is definitely not "sweet." It would constantly scan my disk, and whenever it found a corrupt file a dialog box would pop up. Overnight, 20 to 40 of these boxes would pop up. This would usually crash the computer, prompting for a chkdsk on startup.
After removing the software, the registry still calls for smrgdf to be run whenever chkdsk is ran. Since the program is no longer there, the chkdsk will skip. There is a fix for this, but can't I even get rid of this program? The program fooled me, since it has such a nice-looking GUI, but it's pure trash (from any of my experiences with it).

after installing this program, my computer will no longer load windows. This program was supposed to help my computer, but only made problems worse!

worked OK. Then stopped and asked for more money. I did not buy it to get shanghi'ed for more cash. The damn thing should keep working. I did not pay for a time period program. Would not buy again.
Great disappointment!!! 2008-05-20
I was a user of System Mechanic 6 with no issues. When System 6 helped me through some very serious computer problems I happily upgraded to Pro7. Nothing but nightmares: system lockups, error message one after another on startup and during operation. If Pro 7 was to keep my computer healthy, why didn't it fix these problems? After 3 unanswered requests for help from their "free technical service" I gave up. It took several days to uninstall Pro7 and I am back to using v6. I am using XP with SP2, so maybe other systems fare better.

Believe the other reviews. SM7 slowed down my system, and then it started conflicting with other applications. Outlook hangs, boot-up hangs. DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE. Just move on and don't even think about buying it.
Add/Remove uninstalls but a fraction of the junk. A global search for Iolo in the registry turned into an hour process to remove the rest of the entries. And still the IFW_Xfilter.dll file cannot be deleted because it says still in use.
Support? Good luck with that. The simple stuff they suggest with a manual uninstall still left a ton in the registry and the problems remain. I've been "escalated" for a couple of weeks. No repsonse.
Ask for a manager? They say they don't have any.
Corporate? Good luck with that too. They hide behind their IVR system. I'm not sure anyone actually works there. All show on their web site.
Shame on Iolo, whoever they really are, and SHAME ON AMAZON for selling this horrible and malicious product that ruins PCs! What's next? Trojan Professional 3?
nightmare solved 2008-04-06
I had system mechanic years ago and really liked it. So when my husband and I got matching laptops, I bought this program and installed on our computers. My husband has been complaining on how slow his computer is and how system mechanic keeps popping up and freezes his computer. Also once a week or more I get a note saying my trial period is over and would I like to upgrade. So I have to go through and re-enter my user id and serial numbers. What a pain. Also when there are updates you have to keep turning your computer off & on multiple times. I thought I was going crazy and that my husband was going to kill me for putting this on his computer. I should have done some research, because I find I am not alone. I am definately going to do a lot more research before I put a new program on. Stay away from this one though. It will drive you crazy. It does act like a virus!

Bad bad bad 2008-03-12
STAY AWAY. I downloaded and installed this software. It wiped out my network and I haven't been able to get it working again. It will take hours and hours. BE WARNED!
