Excellent little mop with super cleaning power

I struggled with which mop to buy, and decided on this based on the reviews here. I have not been disappointed! It is compact and easy to store. It heats up VERY quickly - even faster than we had anticipated. It has clips in the top, so any microfiber or terry cloth towel works as a "mop head." The cord is short, but we simply attach a 10 ft. extension cord and it does just fine. The short cord keeps it out of the way while mopping. I'd highly recommend this product - it's fast and easy to use. I will be keeping my floors cleaner - a necessity with two young children and a dog - with this mop.

I just got my steamer yesterday, and I used it for almost 4 hours straight--steam cleaning everything I could think of. I was fascinated at how quickly and easily this machine was able to remove caked on gunk that took hours of scrubbing with Comet and brillo pads before. It totally removed all the soap scum buildup from my bath tub/shower in under 5 minutes. I didn't realize the tile floors in my apartment were supposed to be this color! They look like new.
I don't feel that the handle is very strong, as I always feel like I'm going to break it when I'm moping. Also, the microfiber cloths do seem like they will wear out quickly as another reviewer has suggested. A sock will fit over the small attachment, though, so that will work. Yes, the cord is short, but that's not a problem for me in this small space. There are several different attachments with several different applications. It was a whimsical purchase, but I'm thrilled that I bought it.

I like this product. What I don't like is the cord it's not long enough and the handle keeps falling down when I mop. I tried it on my oven, and I would still use a oven cleaner instead of this product. As for the floors it does a good job.I haven't tried it on clothes for the fabric steamer. I mainly bought this for the floors.

You will need to use an extension cord as the cord is quite short, however, it works really well.
Very light and compact.
I use low heat on my kitchen hardwood floor and high on ceramic tile.
You can use the included cloth or just any rag, they will clip into place!
Great if you don't like the smell of harsh cleaning chemicals or have allergies.

I bought the steamer because it was rated so high by Good Housekeeping. I love using it and it works great. My biggest complaints are that the cord is not long enough. It only does a little area at a time and then you have to switch outlets. Secondly, it only comes with one cleaning cloth. I called Beach Camera (who is who actually sent the product to me) and after getting the run around several times, I finally found the number for the Steamfast company and ordered more cloths through them.
Basically I love the product, but they could work on the cord and adding more cloths. Beach Camera could work on their customer service!!

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Just because we've been slinging mops and hauling buckets of scalding water for years doesn't mean we liked it. So I was intrigued when this newfangled gizmo called a "steam mop" appeared on the infomercials and shelves with the cleaning appliances at the stores. Anything that would make me hate mopping less I had to give a try. And I must admit, it ain't half bad! After reading reviews for similar products and their vendors, the SteamFast had the best reviews and Amamzon has always provided superior service. This device is far less time consuming and backbreaking than the old mop and pail method, not to mention far more sanitary. The power cord could be two feet longer (I subtracted one star for that), but otherwise, I would recommend the SteamFast SF-290 in a heartbeat.
Great way to clean floors 2008-05-18
I bought this a few months ago and I love it! It beats the mopping I used to do. It is quick, does a great job and leaves the floor dry. I tried cleaning other things as it suggested (like the tub and mirrors) but my usual way is better. A little longer cord would be nice.
Works, but needs to be more powerful. 2008-05-14
I've had this product for over a year, and I still use it from time to time. It's somewhat effective to use for spring cleaning, but quite time consuming as it is not powerful at all. It cleans my leather couch better than any chemical cleaner I have used, though. I wish it was more powerful to clean grout better. I have dogs, and I must say that steaming the tile gets any odors out, but I personally wish I would have gone with the McCulloch MC 1275 (more powerful) one.
Steamfast cleaner 2008-02-22
After having read many reviews on this product, I decided to try it. The first time I used it was on my kitchen tile floor and it did a great job. The second time was in my bathroom which has small tiles and it was harder to clean the floor with all the grooves. So, overall it isn't bad and does clean my kitchen floor much faster and better than any mop. It would be nice however if someone would make an industrial strength floor steamer that was affordable.

I liked the product. It cleaned well, but the cord is way too short.
The cord will not stay in the cord holder and I kept tripping over the cord.
I wish it had come with more than one mop head.
