Don't believe the negative reviews - I wish I hadn't

I switched to Pc-cillin 2006 after being very frustrated with Norton, which would periodically hang my system and slow it down. Pc-cillin ran perfectly, and the spam filter was so much better. However, after my subscription ran out, I read and believed the negative reviews about Pc-cillin 2007.
So, instead, I tried BitDefender. Which slowed my system considerably,and had a horrible spam filter. I then downloaded a trial of Pc-cillin 2007, and was surprised it was just as good as Pc-cillin 2006. It didn't slow down my system at all.
So, now I've switched to Pc-cillin 2007. If only I hadn't believe the bad reviews about it, I could have saved the $40 from trying BitDefender first.
Excellent Anti-Virus - NO Computer Slow Down 2007-08-19
I have used Norton Anti-virus for years and hated it. But, there wasn't anything much better on the market -- until now. I had no trouble installing Trend Micro on my computer. However, it says a computer restart is not necessary, but on my computer it was necessary. I suggest a computer restart after downloading. My computer runs flawlessly and there is NO slow down. The Norton slowed my computer down to a crawl, but NOT with Trend Micro. This is very important to me because I hate to wait on my computer. I took Consumer Reports recommendation on Trend Micro as being the BEST and I'm glad I did.

I've used this product for about two years now after switching from Norton.
Pc-Cillin is a dream compared to every other product I've used. It runs flawlessly on both Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Unlike some others who have claimed that it slows down there system, I've found that is simply not the case. It sits idly in the tray icon and only awakens when needed (scanning eMails, intercepting potential viruses, performing software updates, and the like)
Installation was a breeze -- no problems at all. Updates are completely automated and never pose require intervention on my part. Everything is seamless.
It works very well as a firewall as well, in-fact I'd be quite comfortable using it as my only firewall if I wasn't already using a NetGear router. You can configure the firewall to open/block specific internet traffic, ports, and even control how much security you'd like to give individual applications.
Another bonus feature is that if you run more than one computer in the household, PC-Cillin offers the ability to administer (run virus scans) on remote machines. If you're the assigned "geek" of the household, then you can easily scan your kids/siblings/parents computers all from your own desktop.
Pc-Cillin also offers various instant messaging scanning, phishing fraud detection, and a wireless network monitor to keep you safe if you're using your computer as a wireless network access point.
Pc-Cillin has kept my system safe for two years, it hasn't slowed down my computer at all, and has caught many spyware cookies and other potential issues since I've installed it. I also use it in conjunction with SpyBot and AdAware on occasion when I feel the need to do a thorough scan.

I am well pleased with this antivirus program. It has successfully removed unwanted items on my computer. It works swiftly.
PC-Cillin 2007 - will slow down your PC or Laptop to a crawl!

Absolutely kills my PC's and laptops (typically a 2.2Ghz CPU with 2GB of RAM) with a process named PcScnSrv.exe alone using over 85% of CPU continually, and 120 MB+ memory, just for this process. Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security 2007 is terrible. I've used PC-Cillin since version 2003, and until this version it has been a good product. Even 2006 was fine. 2007 is a bomb, so do not purchase it or upgrade it. Just delete your registry keys for Trend and reinstall your 2006 version, and you will be better off, until Trend Micro fixes this disastrous problem. I've been working with technical support every day (the "Customer Escalation Team") since 04/05/2007, with no end in sight so far, and it is now 06/04/2007!
Good solid anti-virus program.

I purchased this about a year ago. I'm confident that it works well and I havn't noticed any sort of draining of resources, but then again I run the scan when no one is using the computer. Never had it crash and updating is simple as can be. It detects most spyware but not all of it. No big deal, I have Spybot S&D and Ad-aware as backups. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because for some reason I get a message saying it can't connect to the internet even thought I can still update with it.
My subscription is almost up, so I'll see how 2008 works out

I received this program for free, fortunately. I'm a more sophisticated computer user than some, but certainly not unusually so. I was having trouble finding info about setting up PC-cillin to allow me to connect to my office VPN, so I searched their knowledge base -- no info. I contacted support. It took them 2 days to get back to me. Meanwhile, I figured out how to set up my VPN on my own. Imagine my surprise, then, when the tech support person emailed me and informed me that PC-cillin is not compatible with VPNs and gave me instructions to uninstall the firewall! I can't find any information on printing through a wireless networked printer, either -- surely this isn't an unusual setup, but a search of the knowledge base has turned up nothing. If I can't get the printer to work, I will be going back to the free versions of Zone Alarm and AVG.
2006 PC Cillin worked great, 2007 is a disaster 2007-10-02
Our company as well as myself used PC Cillin in 2006 and renewed it in 2007. The 2006 version did not slow our systems down like the 2007 version does. I have also experienced problems with the 2007 software that never surfaced on 2006. It took some time to figure out but all of our e-mail programs stopped working and didn't start again until I quite PC Cillin. Everytime I rebooted the computer our e-mail would not work until PC Cillin was quit. The problems of the software became so great that I had to uninstalled it today, many months before our subscription runs out.
We have had the 2007 version since February(?) but many of the problems did not start to surface until lately. It makes me believe that there are problems with their updates.
I would consider other anti virus software before this one.

Perhaps AntiVirus software should be rated like seatbelts. I really don't want to notice it all the time, all I want to do is NOT get viruses.
By that measure, Trend Micro Antivirus is wonderful. I don't get viruses and it's less invasive than what I've seen of the competition.
I do a weekly scan that slows things down a little, but I'm actually running it now and I'm not going over 50% cpu usuage. So I run it at lunch time while I'm either away or surfing the web and it's not noticeable.

software easy to use, but customer support stinks. it always states i need to update software, but never allows me to connect to their server to get the updates. would try another product
