Decent, with a few problems
2008-07-16
This product works great for its purpose. Those who say they can still hear their music when the mic is on don't have the volume dial turned up enough for the mic.
The problems I have with it are minor. For one, the cable going to the headphones from the control needs to be longer than the cable going from the control to the stereo. You cannot put the controller in your pocket when connecting to the really short cable on the 530's without putting in an extension cable. Otherwise it pulls too much. Problem #2 is the clip on the back SUCKS. it's removeable which is nice, however it does not clip - it just slides off of everything. There is no pressure on the clip. It should've been a plastic spring loaded clip with teeth, so you could actually keep it in place.
So, other than some minor issues it works like a charm. I can hear perfectly and talk normally with a flip of a switch.
Nice product, easy to use.

Works great with my Iphone & Shure ear buds. My only complaint is that it is a little heavy.

This "PTH,Push To Hear Control for Shure Sound Isolating Earphones is great!! No longer do I have to say "What" when somebody addresses me while walking or conversation on an airplane. My background is radio and television broadcasting and I'm well acquainted with good sound and when I click on my PTH control I'm amazed at the clarity and sensitivity of the the response...Highly recommended!!!
Not convenient outside flights..

I agree with the earlier reviewer's points:
Slightly bulky design, the battery drops off sometimes and a rather
inconvenient switch. But the microphone quality is good,
no doubt, although the isolation is not great: that is, I still
hear the music from my player when switched to the microphone mode.
The idea behind the design is to ensure
that you don't have to take off the headphones. But most of the time,
I find myself doing the following when I have to listen to an outside
conversation: pull out the PTH from the pocket, switch over to the
microphone mode, pull out the player pause it and then do the reverse all
over again. I would rather pull the headphones out and put them back in!
What would help is to have this switch also to pause the player and play back when the switch is flipped.
That I guess, would require to tie this up with particular music player.
Maybe a solution for iPods will sell.
But this was designed for use in flights when one has to
listen to short sentences and switch back the flowing music.
Too big and poor construction
