This SMOOTHIE maker is awesome!! 2008-08-24
I love this machine - we are on our second one. The first one still works but I just wanted a back up one. We use this 2-3 times per day. If you are taking a powdered protien supplement this machine is perfect. I use it to make 2 kinds of smoothies - a fruity one and a coffee one.

Here is my recipe for fruity: 6-8oz. Non-sugar added Juice, 2 large spoonfulls of organic yogurt, 1 scoop vanilla protien powder, fill to top with frozen fruit, screw on lid and blend.

Recipe for coffee smoothie: 8-10 oz. cold coffee, 1/2 scoop vanilla 1/2 scoop chocolate protien powder, hazelnut creamer, fill to top with ice cubes, screw on lid and blend.

The best part about this machine is the clean up!!! We just rinse the lid with hot soapy water and stick the cups in the dishwasher.

I also bought 3 extra cups which works out great because 2 are always being used or dirty and 2 are always clean.

One more thing, I have also used this to chop onions and make salad dressing as well.

Easy and versatile! 2008-08-03
We bought this machine to make cool treats on hot summer days. The machine comes with the motor base, a blade housing, a cup, a lid, and a spoon/straw. It does not include any syrup. We bought extra cups so each of us could have our own. You make the slushie by filling to the markings on the cup...first the syrup, then the water, and last, the ice. Then you screw the blade housing to the top of the cup, flip the cup over, put it in the machine, and twist to turn the machine on. In about 20 seconds, you have a slushie! Twist back, unscrew the blade housing, screw on the lid, and enjoy. The only cleaning you have to do is the cup pieces and blade. Note: You really need to use small ice cubes or crushed ice for this. The cup is much smaller than a blender, and the contents of the cup need to be able to move around to blend properly.

My youngest is only two years old and I really didn't want him drinking a big slushie. I had a pretty ripe banana and got to thinking...so I cut up the small banana, added some strawberry yogurt, milk and ice, and blended. Well, he enjoyed the smoothie as much as the kids enjoyed the slushies. In fact, they decided the next time they wanted smoothies, too. We made strawberry banana, banana, and chocolate banana. We loved them! I also remembered a recipe I used to make in the blender and decided to try that, too. Small pieces of watermelon, a bit of sugar and a bit of lime juice, some water and ice...watermelon coolers! Our slushie machine turned into a summer drink machine. The directions have a few good ideas, like using the cherry syrup with ice, and cola instead of water for a cherry cola slushie. Use your imagination and your family's preferences for some great treats!

I have found the syrups, when added to their directions, are sweet enough but not super sweet. You can add more or less according to your own preferences. They also have sugar free syrups and even daiquiri syrup. I have seen a few available here, and the company, Focus Electrics, also sells them. We've only had ours for about a month but it is holding up great. I have no complaints!

Great Buy 2008-07-23
I bought this for my 10 year old who has been wanting a slushie machine. He loves this and the simple design is easy enough for him to use. The only thing is you have to put crushed ice in it rather than the cubed. This isn't a big deal for us because our refrigerator has the option for either. Otherwise this makes for a perfect slushie and a happy kid on a hot summer day!

Perfect Slushie's every time 2008-06-20
I purchased this for my grandchildren for when they come over to visit. They all love slushie's and they love using this very simple to operate machine. It is very easy to create perfect slushie's every time. You don't even have to pre-crush the ice since the blades are powerful enough to smash larger ice cubes.
The included slushie cup with straw/spoon is a nice touch and now all I have to do is to purchase a few more cups and we are all set.

Would be perfect if it could handle "regular" ice - not just crushed 2008-06-01
This is a great machine. My kids love it and clean up is a breeze. My only complaint is that it can't crush large pieces of ice. Since we don't have crushed on hand we end up trying to break up regular cubes before they even go in the machine (which kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?) Even so, we love it.
We use flavor ice pops (the kind they sell at room temperature at the grocery store) as the syrup. The kids can make differnt flavor combinations and it's much, much cheaper than buying several different full size syrup bottles.

Perfect for the slurpee lover! 2008-03-19
This is the second one I've owned. It's perfect. My kids love Slushie's and now I don't have to leave the house to go get one, I can make them at home.

Life saver 2008-03-14
This slushie maker is a great product. We've been able to hide meds in a juice slushie when the kids are sick. We freeze our juice in ice cube trays and use those along with the actual juice ....no sugary syrups needed. My husband enjoys them too.

A great little machine 2008-03-06
My kids love slushies made by this machine but it only comes with one cup. I have to buy another one (they have to have the regulation "slushie cup"...ha

I love it with one reservation! 2008-02-28
This little device works very well as long as you have the right ratio of ice to liquids and with a bit of practice it's Great!

Except one problem:
After a month or so of use two or three times a week, the little nubs on the side of the cup that press the switch to start the motor break off! The cup is then not usable because the blender won't start. There are two nubs on the cup so I turned it around. That worked for another week then it broke. I bought another cup and tried to be careful about how I used it but it broke too. By then the cups weren't available in my local store and the blender went into storage 'till next year when I hope this seasonal item will be available again.
