Editorial Review
NOTE: This deluxe edition features a ringtone of "Lost Without U," an autographed poster, and cell-phone wallpaper.
The Evolution of Robin Thicke is the second solo album from the critically acclaimed, Grammy award winning songwriter and producer of records for such artists as Michael Jackson and Christina Aguilera. The album is a timeless work of art. With a voice of purity, passion and soulfulness, Robin brings to life the stories and emotions of the last two years of his life.
The album is filled with incandescent magic. It is an album that tells the tales of love, loss, temptation, redemption and finding hope when all the odds are against you. "My greatest desire with this album was to write songs that were completely honest and sing them with the emotion I was feeling when I wrote them, so that whoever listens to my music is brought as close to my experiences and life as possible."
Reflective, redemptive, passionate and etched with a soulfulness that is undeniable, The Evolution of Robin Thicke is an imaginative and heart-felt album that you cannot help but be moved by, bob your head to and smile throughout.

Better than I thought

Although there are a couple of songs that use adult language I am pleased with the album. I would recommend it if you like this type of music.

Evolution of Robin Thicke CD
2007-09-06
This was one of the best CD's that I have heard. Robin Thicke has the smoothness of the jazz singers Arthur Prysock and Joe Williams. He is truly blue-eyed soul. I hope that his next CD is as fresh and innovative as this one is.
Great, as usual

Once again Robin has did it! His music has such emotion and depth. I bought his first cd when it came out and it was my favorite for almost two years. This one will probably be the same way. Do your stuff, Robin!
Out of the blue...

Wow...and wow, again!
I have not heard anything this compelling in a very long time. This man's music encompasses a great deal of his own soul. He admits to being inspired by all those music 'giants', many of whom are now in spirit - we listen to his sound, we know who they are, he has learnt well - I enjoy feeling the musical atmosphere/undertones/little snatches of memory of people like Curtis Mayfield & Marvin Gaye in 'Cocaine', to name a few.
However, this album is truly Robin Thicke's own thing. I like it because there's a 'rawness', a 'naturalness' in the midst of all that 'smoothness'...whether or not it's the last thing I heard, I still wake up with one of the songs in my head...they just flow through my subconscious...the lyrics, the actual music accompaniment, not to mention those flexible vocals suitably manipulated to match the songs.
Robin Thicke has featured on so many previous albums of my favourite artistes, I had to go back and listen to those songs, and his 'sound' is instantly recognisable. I appreciate those numbers on this album which feature Faith Evans, Lil Wayne and Pharrell - why not - now it's his turn. Although his music is 'catchy', he is definitely an adult lyricist - no in-between, no uncertainty - this is an album for 'grown-up' people who understand pain, joy, tears, sex, addiction, desperation and hope.
Excellent music reaches out and captures the listener. 'The Evolution of Robin Thicke' has reached out and captivated me. Thank you, Robin Thicke. Great job!

Mixed feelings
2008-01-14
I purchased this cd for my husband, who really likes Robin's music. I myself do not like his music at all. He would not stop playing it, so now he's only allowed to listen to it in the car, but he still breaks out in 'Robin song' in the house.
I deduce that if you like Robin, you would love this cd. If you don't like Robin, don't buy it for your spouse.
Makes You Feel SOOOOO SEXY
2008-01-04
This is a SEXY CD from beginning to end. (not in a vulgar way) Robin Thicke has such a beautiful smooth voice and has a way of making you feel beautiful and sexy as well. It's been a long time since a artist had that sound. With the slow songs being my favorites, even the fast ones are sutible for a night alone with your honey. Guys, get this one for your girl. She'll love it. I would have given it 10 stars if I could.
Should come with a warning
2007-11-19
I really enjoyed a lot of these tracks before buying, but there should be a warning on here that these types of enhanced CDs may not play on all CD players - I can't play it in my car, and although I have 3 CD players in my house, the CD only plays on one of them, and it's the cheaper one whose sound quality is not so great.
The Opposite of Justin Timberlake
2007-11-13
First of all, if your idea of neo-soul and R&B is defined by Justin Timberlake, then this will be the CD to set you free. The Timberlake comparisons are inevitable of course - like him, Robin Thicke is young, photogenic, and he's married to an extremely beautiful woman.
However, one listen to "Lost Without You", and you can tell there is something special about this performer. I have had this album for exactly ONE YEAR now, and with the passing of time, let me tell you that it only gets better and better. Its a pity that not many people know about Robin, because he deserves all the success he gets.
I am a huge fan of the blue eyed soul genre, and to me, Thicke epitomizes everything that is right about it - solid grooves (no one can ride a groove like Janet Jackson on her good days, but Robin is a close second) and excellent vocal delivery (soprano AND falsetto) - simply amazing.
If you're looking for an eclectic and memorable R&B CD that will stand the test of time, you came to the right page. Get this today.
Five Stars. Goodbye Justin.
