The camera itself comes with a zip shell that has a belt loop, so the holster is only useful in situations where you are using the camera every few seconds and need both hands free inbetween. It is NOT a substitute for the zip shell: I was walking with it and clipped a doorway, unaware of the added girth from the holster, and the camera fell out of the holster onto a concrete floor! I probably wouldn't have bought it had I known in advance about the zip shell, however I'm not sorry that I have it.

Do not buy this case! 2008-04-17
I purchased this case despite a few bad reviews and the fact that there are few options. The HD1000 barely fits in and once in, it swivels to the left and right, which will cause the camera to fall out as it is top heavy due to the large lens. If it didn't swivel so easily, I might be able to put up with it, but that's not the case.

It is basically unusable for me, so I wasted the $20+ dollars.

Works great at dropping camcorder 2008-01-16
Seemed like a good idea. It's does keep the camcorder at the ready. That is what I was looking for, but not at the expense having it fly out of the pouch and on to the ground every time I make a sudden movement. I think I dropped the camcorder 8 times before I decided to drop the case.

Good, but not quite good enough 2007-08-01
Good quality, but seems to better suit the smaller models. Mine is a HD2, and it feels a bit too big for the holster, and I am nervous about it falling out, or damaging the camera with the cord for the lens cap. Back to the LowePro !

Be Careful 2007-05-17
Be careful that the holster does not swivel on your belt and the HD2 falls out. Luckily mine was onto a carpet!!

Camera Falls Out Easily 2007-05-13
I bought this case during the check-out process without reading the reviews which was a mistake. First off, I missed the fact that the camera came with a small zipper case. Second, the camera falls out easily, especially when you sit down or bend over.

Pros:
- You can get to the camera quickly
- Takes only one hand to get it out
- The case has a spring-clip so you can get it on and off your belt easily (no undoing your belt - which you need to do for the included zipper case)

Cons
- The case doesn't hold the camera securely so it can fall out really easily.
- The case needs to be upright all the time, so you can't safely connect it to the strap of something else like my camera bag.
- there is no place for an extra battery or memory card

The fact that the camera falls out is a real deal-breaker, the case needs to keep the camera safe so I can't recommend this to anyone.

TIP - secure the camera in the case by putting the hand-strap around the belt connector. This makes removal a two handed operation, but saves the camera from certain death or getting lost.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has…. An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
