Poor Quality for Sony

These cables look great in the packaging. But the stylish packaging hides a set of cheapo cables. They are marketed for PS3. You would do much better in buying Monster Cable's component cables designed for PS2 - the one without the Toslink cable. This assumes you don't want to pay the crazy current prices for the HDMI. (I bought one on Amazon for $1.98).

After returning these Sony cables, I bought the Monster Cable version for PS2 at Circuit City for $9.00. They were more originally. But PS2 stuff is being unloaded for cheaps now. And the Monster Cables are well-built, properly insulated, perform and connect well.

Decent RCA plugs can be screwed into the RCA jacks. Everyone's cables claims to have some voodoo magic in its winding. All I know is that line-level cables are capacitance and inductance. They should be free from interference from RF and intereferecne from each other.

I use both HDMI and component cables from my PS3, an alternate. I drive everything with a 2-channel tube amplifier. I think there are advantages of both, but that exceeds the scope of this review.

In sum, find the Monster Component cables for PS2 for your PS3.

Quality counts

Originally purchased a discount component cable (sorry, don't remember the brand) at Best Buy rather than pay the Sony premium, but it didn't work out of the box. I had to put pressure on the connector to get full color to come through. The Sony cable is more expensive (online at Amazon cuts out most of the premium) but the manufacturing quality is higher.

A must to play PS2 on HDTV

This cable enhances the graphics on PS2 games. I use a HDMI for PS3 so I only can give my opinion on Ps2 games.

This $20 cable is well worth its price. I added it to my Playstation 3 on a standard definition tv and it looks amazing. No more little fuzzy words or anything like that, everything is much sharper and its definately easier on the eyes. If you don't have an hd tv and you have a PS3 you have to get this cable.

Does not upconvert

Go with HDMI or DVI-HDMI if you can. PS3 can not upconvert dvds through this cable, it can only upconvert through the hdmi.

I actually had a difficult time getting this cable to work with my tv. I have an older Samsung hdtv which doesn't allow 480i in at the component connectors. As such, it took a while to adjust the video settings on the PS3. The second problem was when I went to play an old dvd, it wouldn't play on the tv because of the same 480i issue. Since component cables are not allowed to carry upconverted signals, the signal from old dvds is 480i, which doesn't make much sense with getting a PS3 to act as a BluRay, and I assume your only dvd, player.

So my old hdtv has DVI in but no HDMI, so I went with a cheap DVI-HDMI cable from Amazon, and that solved my problems. The audio is routed through the RCA stereo plugs, but one could also use the optical out for audio. DVI does not carry audio signals like HDMI does.

I am no longer using this cable.

cheap and worth it

first off thank you Amazon for having this product for sale and thank you again for your SUPER FAST SHIPPING. these cables do give you a better image than the cables that come inside the PS3 box. they give u sharper and cleaner look on your tv.

Manually need to switch at menu...stupid design

I bought this cable as a cheap option. My TV has only two HDMI inputs and I have used up all. Since HDMI selector switch goes for over $70, I plan to use available component cable option. I bought component cable from Circuit city and plug into my ps3 and TV. It didn't work. I reset my TV then reconnect the cable again, it didn't work either.I first though either my ps3 or TV is defective but they are new. Finally, I reconnect the ps3 with HDMI then go to setting and switch to component. It works. Sony Ps3 designers must be smoking something when they design this. Should have been just plug and play. I almost make a fool out of myself before returning cables. Stupid design SONY!

I found S-Video sharper than Video Component

I have a non official S-Video cable for PS2 and for the PS3 I decided to buy the AV Component, even though it's good, the S-Video brings a sharper image, the official Component brings clearer fonts but a blurry image.

This might be due to the PS2 besides the S-Video cable comes with an extra video cable (the yellow one) but this Component AV doesn't have the yellow video cable.
