Can I Upgrade?

I have a Micro-Star K9VGM-V PC. Processor is a AMD Sempron Model 3400+ that runs at 1800 (1.8GHZ). Would this processor be compatable if installed on my board?
Great product.

Plugged it in to gigabyte ga-m57sli-s4 with 4 gigs and a raid 0 setup.
I reset the motherboard, overclocked to 3.2 (with the included heatsink/fan)
and started it up. I'm running vista 64. I get a windows experience of
5.5 for the processor, 5.9 for everything else. No problems
Good workhorse

I purchased this as in a bundle with the Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Green nVIDIA Socket Am2 ATX Motherboard and, as I said in that review, even if I had paid full price for both items I would consider myself to have gotten a good deal.
There's not a whole lot to be said about either product that others haven't covered before me, so at this point I'll just add: Make sure your power supply can handle these items, and make sure you have got great cooling fans (I have 2 4"rear-mounted and 1 8" side-mounted, myself, and use a 550 watt power supply).

AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core processors put the power of dual-core technology on the desktop. Dual-core processors contain two processing cores, residing on one chip, that perform calculations on two streams of data to increase efficiency and speed while running multiple programs and the new generation of multi-threaded software. For everyone this means a significant increase in response and performance when running multiple applications simultaneously. AMD64 technology provides full-speed support for x86 code base for uncompromising performance 40-bit physical addresses, 48-bit virtual addresses Sixteen 64-bit integer registers Sixteen 128-bit SSE/SSE2/SSE3 registers AMD Digital Media XPress provides support for SSE, SSE2, SSE3 and MMX instructions One 16-bit link up to 2000MHz Up to 8GB/s HyperTransport I/O bandwidth Up to 20.8GB/s total delivered processor-to-system bandwidth
Great CPU

This is a great CPU for the price. I was originally going to buy an Intel dual core, but I had no idea they were $200-$300. So I looked at some of the AMD cpu's, and saw this 3.0GHz for $113. So far no problems, runs great.
great upgade for the x2 mother board
2008-05-14
this is a great upgrade for those with a x2 mother board and want more speed, better gaming, and better over all system performance with out changing the mother board... the cpu is easy to install... the cpu does come with a new heat sink, although i recommend buying a better one, as this one blows the air down onto the mother board and around the cpu... i think that is counter productive. after i intalled a new cpu cooler i have noticed no heat issues at all.. the cooler i am using is SilenX iXtrema Pro 92mm Triple Heatpipe LED Alum CPU Heatsink (Socket 754/775/939/940/AM2 as well i recommend artis silver thermo grease.
Very fast and cheap. Power hungry.

As the title reads, it's very fast and cheap, but power hungry. No heat issues. Remember to have a good power supply unit (at least 500W), specially if you have to feed many internal devices.
