Dissappointing Tech support
2008-04-07
I bought this device about 3 months ago. Since then, the built-in speaker stopped working, and I have sound to the earphones on one channel only. I tried to contact tech support, but so far unsuccessful: The website provides a number to call, but it always says that "all circuits are busy". I also sent an email, but no response. Unless they improve their support I cannot recommend these devices.
Don't buy at any cost!!!
2008-04-07
I purchased this Sandisk Sansa Connect after a friend of mine showed me his. I really liked that it connected to Yahho Music Jukebox and would play Yahoo's radio stations and let you download songs you would hear,as long as you would purchase a montly subscription called To Go for $14.99! I already was paying for Yahoo Music Jukebox so I thought it would connect and download songs with my previous subscription! Wrong!! Yahoo Music would not let me upgrade my service to the TO Go service! I had to purchase a second subscription to do this($14.99)Even if you never have subscribed before, heres the kicker,Yahoo Music is discontinuing the service for this unit on June 1,2008 and this unit will no long have WiFi radio stations or be able to download. Yahoo Music has been sold to Rhapsody Music and this model(SanDisk Sansa Connect) is not compatable with their service!! Sandisk and Yahoo have knowed about this for awhile but are still selling this unit anyway!! This unit should be called Sansa DisConnect!!
wifi works well
2008-03-22
wifi works as well as laptop or pc's usb wifi adapter. I connect to home stereo and have launchcast play - this works well, sounds good. Launchcast stations pretty good.
I don't recommend as only mp3 player for car, workouts or anyplace too noisy since this player's volume is too low (I have or have had about dozen players).
Battery is poor even with wifi off - avg about 6-8hrs.
Video is cool but a pain to convert and send.
Could have been the Killer MP3 Player of 2008!
2008-03-16
Why Sansa tied this product to Yahoo is beyond me. If they had made this player generic so it play through any WiFi connection, it would have made it the best MP3 Player on the market. I have been looking for a Wireless MP3 Player that I can connect to my stereo systems (house, car, boat) and play whatever songs I have on it. Can you imagine if you could do that and download songs wirelessly from your PC, Notebook!
Don't Buy It! Will soon be useless!
2008-03-13
Guess why the price has been slashed? Because this Mp3 player will soon be useless!
I bought one six weeks ago and enjoyed it for a month, then it suddenly stopped playing all songs and through much time and effort I discovered that you have to sign into your Yahoo Music account each month and sync the player for your songs to continue playing. However, I STILL can't get any songs to play and while perusing the FAQs and message boards trying to figure out why, I discovered this MOST IMPORTANT POINT: Yahoo has sold out to Rhapsody and this change will take place, it's said, in mid-2008. And the Sansa Connect is NOT compatible with Rhapsody!!! I have no idea what may or may not be done about this but all I know is: my player is not playing any songs and I haven't found any help from Yahoo about why. Now I learn that Yahoo is calling it quits and there are no plans announced regarding the future of the Sansa Connect. I find it shameful that Sansa or anyone else will continue to sell a product with no talk about a future life that is said to be ending very soon.
Good but NO WiFi
2008-06-28
Bought this for my son and it works well with Rhapsody-to-Go which is a fantastic service and has/is absorbing Yahoo Music. Only works with a USB and not via WiFi and understand from Rhapsody that there are no plans to add WiFi. (Only WiFi player is the expensive Haier Ibiza) Nevertheless for the (discounted) price it is worth it. (Sandisk website says it has ben "discontinued")
It's OK

You do not get to the use the wifi, which kind of really sucks, but for a
mp3 player, mpeg viewer the price is not bad.
Almost a great device
2008-05-30
The Sansa Connect was "almost" a great device. It is okay, has a decent UI. The Wifi options are a bit tough because you need accounts for them with the services.
I would have liked wifi sync and direct podcast support. It would have been so easy to include.
So, neat concept, pretty good device -- no major complaints other than it falls short of what it could have been.
And, it looks like the line is steering away from wifi-enabled devices. I'm disappointed.
sansa and yahoo
2008-04-19
do not buy this product(the sandisk sansa connect)for yahoo discontinued its music subsciption service in mid 2008,the wireless part was discontined for this product, only accessable by pc. what a waste of time and money.
Sandisk connect mp3 player
2008-04-19
Very nice looking player, I like the slim shape of it too. but it is not without fault. To start off the screen protection has some glue on it, and damaged one side of the player. The installation cd for Yahoo Jukebox is garbage. It will not detect the player. And my system will freeze every now and then. So I had to use WMP to upload music to it. The battery will run out even when the player is off. The player gets hot after a while when on. The wifi was absolutly useless, while it detects and connects, I can't listen to internet radio. It says buffering on screen but never plays.
I owned an ipod nano, and the quality and usability makes the sansa connect look like a joke. It is a joke.
