Very Fun Game

The PC Game is better but as a DS game this is a great substitute for the original.
Great game, love it

I just received this game the other day and have been playing it ever since. About a month ago I purchased Magnetica (from Amazon-someone said you couldn't get it but you can) but I'm liking this one better because it's closer to Zuma. The different levels and screens are really good. I like knowing when I'm going to a different level (not like in Magnetica). I am an older adult who is into video games and this is pretty good. If you like Zuma you'll like this.
So happy I bought 2

I originally bought this game for my Grandson for his Birthday. It arrived early and in good condition. I also have a DS and decided to try it out. Then I had to buy another one for his birthday because I was hooked. It's different than the computer version, but just as good. My Grandson loves his too. I would reccomend it to anyone.
Luxor is addicting.

If you want a game that is just something to do to fill up spare time this is great. It is simple to start with and then gets tougher so there is always a challenge. It does get terribly addicting trying to beat high scores and such. Worth the money!
Tottaly Addictive

"Totally addictive" - true. I finished this game 2 times once on normal difficulty once on hardcore and it was a lot of fun. I'm glad that Luxor has finally branched out off the PC and came to a console that I can play without sitting at my computer. I actually had to borrow my son's DS.
Fun game, but gets old fast.

Luxor 2 sets the new standard for action-puzzle casual games. Luxor 2 offers addictive and easy-to-learn, yet difficult to master game play which made the award-winning Luxor franchise such a smash hit, while taking the game to a completely new level. Luxor 2 takes you on a beautiful voyage through the land of ancient Egypt. Play 88 all-new, gorgeously rendered levels of brilliantly displayed crisp and stunning graphics set amongst the pyramids and temples of ancient Egypt. Use your mystical winged scarab to shoot and destroy the approaching magical spheres before they reach the pyramids at the end of their path. And to help you shoot down those enemy spheres, Luxor 2 features more explosive power-ups than ever before.
Now you can play Luxor ANYWHERE!!!

The fun that used to be reserved for the spot in front of my PC screen can now be experienced anywhere! The car, the doctor's office waiting room, the department of motor vehicles, the bathroom...boredom is now optional!
Just as good as the original!

I can't figure out why that other reviewer gave this game three stars. It's a great game.
I was impressed with how well this translated to the "small screen." The images are crisp and clear, the controls are highly responsive (lag time would kill you on this game), and it is generally an entertaining time-waster. If you're thinking of getting it for a child, understand that there is really no educational value, although I think it encourages cognitive planning. My 7-year-old, who loves the Luxor computer games, is crazy for this one. She is able to play it without the frustration she has experienced with many popular children's DS titles (i.e. the ones with teenage TV personalities on the cover). She figured out the controls without my help, and I didn't hear from her for at least 20 minutes, except, "I'm on level 4!." I enjoy it, as well.
True, it is not terribly different from the computer version. I consider that a positive. We were expecting the Luxor we know and love, which is what we got. If you are interested in a "test drive," go to the Gamehouse website and download the 60-minute trial of one of the computer Luxor games. That should give you enough of a taste to decide if you will like this. The Luxor versions for the computer are the same basic idea as this: shooting marbles at a marble "snake" to make the snake disappear before it gets to the end of the track.
Making Connections

When it comes to video game systems right now, no system has ever been innovative on the go than the Nintendo DS. While many gamers have been a bit more anxious on the Wii and the Playstation 3, gamers have always find alternatives. That can be for games like Zuma. While Zuma has been one of the best P.C. puzzle games, there have been plenty of knockoffs that have thrives, like Magnetica last year which showed a lot of promise for the DS, but is no longer in print for the handheld. But, for those who have not been able to play Magnetica for the DS, they get a second chance with Mumbo Jumbo's latest title, but does it shine as brightly as was the case with Magnetica?
Luxor: Pharaoh's Challenge for the Nintendo DS, takes on the simple gameplay that DS puzzle fanatics have seen before with Magnetica. The gameplay thoguh is a bit more intense. The object though is the same as Zuma though, as you use your DS stylus to try to shoot balls out of you shot, without getting any rows too close to the center, otherwise you'd be short circuited ou of the game. There are more levels here though than Magnetica which only had 60. Here there are double the levels, but the gameplay is just as addictive. The graphics look good, falling under the guise of Ancient Egyptian levels, but the gameplay doesn't change the fact that it feels like you're playing the same thing as before. The control is simple to use, but the enjoyment though doesn't add anything worthwhile if you've played Luxor or Zuma before.
All in all, Luxor: Pharaoh's Challenge isn't a bad game, but it just doesn't actually add anything to seperate it from the originals. While you have more levels to master, it just doesn't feel like it is a definitive game to buy. Still, if you haven't yet even played Zuma or Magnetica for the DS, which is now no longer in print, than Luxor: Pharaoh's Challenge would be worth the buy.
