Shin Chan, where have you been all my life?!

One this is for sure, this show is not for little kids. I would personally say this show is for anyone who watches Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, and any other kind of show like that. I first watched it on Adult Swim, the late night Cartoon Network. This little guy is sooo funny. He is obsessed with his butt, poop, and his fav tv show Action Bastard. The things that come out of his mouth are so obscene but it is freakin hilarious. I totally recommend it for a good laugh.
Another anime that should be forgotten

This is by far the most pathetic anime I've seen thus far, and I've seen a lot of anime (over 90 separate TV series). The first thing that tipped me off was the horrendous artwork, as an artist myself I look for quality in the animes I watch and notice when it's lacking. Next is what passes as humor, this is really low-brow stuff, calling it potty humor would be a complement. My advice is when you see this turn and run..... fast, I will not recommend this to anyone for any reason.

As a Shin fan, I knew what I was getting. It's so hard to catch it on tv sometimes, but now we can enjoy this hilarious adult cartoon anytime.

I absolutely love Shin Chan! This is the best, bad, hilariously inappropriate television show out there! When I first saw advertisement for it I thought it just looked stupid, but when we finally caught it we instantly fell in love. It has to have the most memorable characters on t.v. I love it so much I am reviewing it encouraging other people to BUY THIS DVD and watch it on television!! And I have never written a review before now. WATCH SHIN CHAN!!
HILARIOUS! 2008-09-21
When I first saw this poorly drawn anime-appearing cartoon, I almost changed the channel. But I gave it a chance and I was glad I did. Though at first glance it might look like a kids cartoon--it is definitely for adults. The humor in it is crude but smart at the same time. If you're a fan of such cartoons (like South Park) then you'll like this one as well. It doesn't contain "newsy" topical humor, but it's very funny! Great to sit down and watch for a good laugh after you've had a non-laughable day...

Well, too bad. Here we go again. I'm sure it won't bother you, but it bothers me and my wife. Why is it American products always have to screw it up? RE-DIALOG?! I'll take the original, and I'm going over to "CD JAPAN" right now to order it. The least they could have done is put the Japanese original vocal dub to the thing. I need no references to lame pop-culture junk. Ho hum...ripped off again. Evidently we can't handle jokes and humor from another culture, we need things that fit our small little world view; in this case, humor. It's like chopping up hot dogs into your sushi...do yourself a favor: go with the original Japanese version, unless that sort of thing doesn't matter to you.

I love Shin Chan and I love the episodes but when I buy a DVD, I expect certain things. Like being able to switch from a dub to a sub or vice versa. I didn't see that option! or perhaps a few commentaries or something like that instead of just ... TWO!!! Only two!!
I'm happy to support Shin Chan so CN doesn't pull the plug on it like Fox did to another show I loved for 2.5 years!
Also for 13 eps and with so little extras, I have to say the disk is also too expensive. Since it plays on CN it's almost a good idea to tape/burn it then it is to buy this dvd.
So to recap.
The show gets 5 ... no 10 stars. I love this show that much
the disk gets like 2 or maybe 1 star at most.
Anime for Adults! 2008-06-26
I love this show and by saying that I fully admit to having a perverse sense of humor.
The extra's included are funny as hell, its too bad they cannot air a certain word, some of the "extra" clips could have been awesome in the actual episodes!
I have never laughed so hard in my life! This makes Family Guy seem tame!
Not what I expected 2008-06-26
I am a huge fan of animé and enjoy a wide variety. My first huge disappointment was the lack of an original language soundtrack w/ English subtitles. What's even worse is that all the jokes and cultural references have been Americanized. Why bother to watch an animated Japanese show when it just sounds like any number of equally lame American shows? And, yes, I do enjoy various animated American shows, too. The final blow was that I just didn't find the jokes to be particularly funny and no, it's not because they're too crude. I do enjoy South Park after all. :)
