3-1/2 stars -- A classic! (If you don't care about production, that is)

Finger Eleven is another one of those bands that took a long time to really get to the masses. The first time I heard of them was back in 2003 with their self-titled album thanks to the song "One Thing", but afterwards I thought that song was aptly titled because I hadn't heard anything from them after that. But the quintet came back last year with Them vs. You vs. Me and the necessary radio-friendly first single (admit it) "Paralyzer", which was one of the biggest hits of the year (hell, it's STILL in the top 40). The question is, though, does a hit song translate into a hit album? Well, yes and no.
This album pretty much never runs out of rhythmic gems, like "Change the World" (no, it's not an anti-war song), "Talking to the Walls" and "Easy Life". The lone mellow track "Window Song" is also good, although I'm surprised that it's not the final track. Metaphoric tales also impress, as evidenced by "So-So Suicide".
Why all this praise and only three-and-a-half stars? Well, it's no secret that the music to the aforementioned "Paralyzer" bears more than a striking resemblance to that of Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out"; still, I was going to overlook that until I discovered that the same music is also found (albeit at a slightly slower tempo) on "Gather & Give" and "Lost My Way" (which seems to contradict the preceding song, "I'll Keep Your Memory Vague"). I mean, it got to the point that it almost made me say, "Damn; get your own ideas!" Oh, well; whether that sort of thing bothers you or not, Them vs. You vs. Me is worth adding to your collection.

I have been a fan of Finger Eleven since their very first album. I always appreciated the length between albums, as they keep getting better. I snapped this up when it first came out, and on the first listen, I was really disappointed. It was so different from their previous stuff, and I was let down. However, after a few more listens, this album is constantly on repeat. It really grew on me. Give it a try (or two or three). You won't be disappointed.
Just buy "Paralyzer" as a single.

I'd heard some of Finger Eleven's earlier work, and thought there was some potential there. When "Paralyzer" started playing, I really liked the sound, picked it up, and played the CD on the way home.
It was something of a let down, as the CD was not cohesive and no other songs stood up to the expectations the single created.
The album's not BAD, it's just BLAND.
I'd say stick to the single.
Pretty good

Great CD. The group does not get enough credit or publicity. One of my new favorites!

I am really enjoying this CD. Finger 11 really hits the mark for me in this CD. I like several cuts from the record already. Of course, just like everyone else, I love Paralyzer.
Odd, I agree with reviewer Anthony on the Fozzy CD

Fozzy's new CD All That Remains Reloaded is really good as Anthony mentioned. However, I also think that Finger Eleven is completely underated. Strong groove that flows with the vocals....they finally got it right, in my opinion.
Extraordinary!

Don't ya hate when you have to listen to a new album a dozen times before you can tell the songs apart? You won't have that problem here. There is a variety of musical moods on this album that is sure to please. This album projects Finger Eleven to the front of the line, sure to introduce them to a greater audience, and make them a household name. By far the best album I've heard in a long while.
Fozzy's new CD destroys this.....similar vibe but way better songs

Fozzy's new CD All That Remains Reloaded was similar in approach vocally, yet Jericho believe it or not is a far more interesting singer and has better melody. Fozzy is heavier than Finger Eleven, but yet it's much easier to find yourself singing along to Fozzy. Check out the Fozzy CD and do yourself a favor.........
