Great quality TV

I was a little hesitant about getting an hdtv but the Toshiba worked great right out of the box and we have not had any trouble with it. Picture quality is very good and it has a lot of connectors for any type of input you would need.

We were hesitant buying a TV off the internet, without having a store to return to (if needed). But, it was such a good deal, that it was worth trying! We received our TV quickly, within a few days (ordered on Thurs and had it by Tues). The delivery was prompt and very professional. They took down our old TV and put this one up. It works great! We absolutely love it! I would highly recommend getting a TV from Amazon!
Great t.v.! 2008-03-21
Bought display model from Costco. I only have standard digital from directv but this picture is awesome. It is much nicer than our 36 inch flat screen tube sony. The audio is also much better. It is very easy to adjust, plenty of choices for screen size and the colors are outstanding. No glare either from the lamp my husband always has on and which bothered me with the sony tube tv we had. Whenever we decide to get hdtv I will probably fall in love again.
First One Went Bad - Amazon Came Through!

We decided on the Toshiba 52" HL167 after many long months of techology research, price comparisons, and the overall ratings we had seen. Received our HDTV and it worked spectacularly - for 2 weeks. Two areas of dead pixels appeared on the panel and, totally stunned, I immediately notified Amazon. They promptly exchanged the Toshiba for another one and had it delivered within less than a week (5 stars to Amazon!). The dead pixel lines increased dramatically over the next few days to about 36 inches across the panel. I was quite surprised at this failure as I had not seen anyone experience any pixel problems with this Toshiba model.
We've had the replacement for about a month now, and so far, so good - but you can't help but feel a little cautious. The picture truly is stunning with HD broadcasts (we have DishHD), only wish there were more. Overall, Amazon's response to our situation was incredible, but keeping my fingers crossed with Toshiba.
My new TV 2008-03-10
Our new TV is a little slow on changing channels, about a 5 second delay. But we could not be happyier with the over all performance, the picture is outstanding.

I ordered and received this set about a week ago through one of Amazon's partners (the one currently being used at this writing). Anyway, more about the set and the free delivery later. Both the decision to buy this TV and the method of delivery were extremely important to me for budget considerations. And nerve wracking! But I'd had my eye on this Toshiba for over 6 months and now I believe it's been discontinued; which made my stress levels even higher!! My advice? Buy it as soon as you can!
The set itself is my dream come true. The picture is phenomenal compared to the others I've viewed in this size range (Sony, Samsung and Sharp). The picture is simply...better. Very black blacks! Incredibly sharp and bright, with no banding, ghosting. Standard TV and DVD replay is good, not great. This set apparently plays exactly whatever "feed" it gets. So it can be spectacular one moment or not so sharp the next (though standard reception still is watchable). It's the HD reception that "knocks your socks off"! And I can see no "blur" on fast action sequences, whether with sports or movies when it's getting HD reception. The non-glare screen is another big plus! No reflections of the lamps behind you, sun, etc. on this set. It's crystal clear, bright and sharp in any room light. What can I say? I love this Toshiba!
Now about the shipping. It was "free" and to "my door". The driver was very professional and friendly. Unloaded the set for inspection and helped me look it over, in depth. It was perfect. So I say "congrats" to Amazon and Sixth Ave. for selling and delivering a great product to me for about a grand or more less than the retail stores here. Don't miss this opportunity if you're looking for a great 52" HDTV!
Great product and service 2008-04-17
The Toshiba REGZA 52HL167 52-inch 1080p LCD HDTV that I purchased thru Amazon is a great product. Delivery and set up went smoothly and as promised. The product is everything I expected and more. I needed a screen that wouldn't reflect light since the TV is near large windows. Other reviews said this TV would fit the bill and indeed it does.
Good for 1 month, then who knows

I had this TV for exactly one month. Luckily I could send it back for a full refund. The TV stopped turning on. Tried different outlets, differnt electronics in the outlets everything else worked fine. The TV did look good for the time I had it. But it lacks a few feature other TVs in its price range have, like Picture in Picture or USB viewing (the one on this is just for service). From playing games on it there was some blurring with the 8ms reponse time. The sound was decent for TV speakers. The features are lacking compared to other TVs, and the price has gone up, I got it for $1941 and now is about $300 more. Also I should mention it is a very heavy TV for an LCD and thicker than most, just another reason to go with a different TV. If it worked I would give the TV a 3 star review, but I would suggest buying through amazon for the teriffic Customer Service. They extended my return window since I only had 3 days left to return the TV, and it was Saturday and it would take a few business days past my return window to process the return. A hassel but as smoth as can be.
BUYER BEWARE!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE 2008-04-13
I have a similar Toshiba 47LZ196 that I paid $3499.99 for in Dec. 2006 that is just under 1 year and 2.5 months old and the panel ($3400.00) crapped out on me. After being informed by multiple Toshiba reps that I was in the window to receive assistance I was informed NOTHING would be covered and I was responsible for the cost of the part and repairs. What a joke for a higher end flat panel. One year and almost $4000.00 down the old crapper. Such a shame since I really liked that tv.
Toshiba REGZA 52-inch 1080p LCD HDTV 2008-04-12
After several months of researching I decided on this TV. When I compared it to other 52in HDTV's including Sony, Samsung & Sharp, there was a very noticeable reduction in glare on this set. Actually there were no reflections. Price at Samsung was another factor. Throw in no sales tax their free white glove delivery service and it was a no brainer. I've been watching it for a month and the picture quality is tops. Good menu and very easy to use remote. Extremely happy with it and the delivery service.
