CMO version of "Samsung" 226BW...Perfect!

After opening the box: made in Malaysia feb 2008 sticker with no version (s?)
Hidden menu:go to menu,contrast and brightness to zero,menu again,then hold source for 5 sec...It is a CMO version,the worst one as based on the 1000 reviews I read before on the net.
Plug the monitor on the vga port of my LG laptop (Geforce GO 7400 512Mb).
Picture looks great,not a single adjustment required.
Call of Duty 4,World in conflict...running perfectly on 16:10,clear images on action.
DVD's: The Thin Red Line...WONDERFUL!
So what about the so deadly blue rendering,the dark top,the fade colors,the noise,the difference with other versions...?
NOTHING!!!
Even the stand is OK for me.

All around great monitor 2008-08-29
Love this monitor and I'm running 2 of them on my computer, which is a must IMO... makes everything so much easier to do. :) Great contrast, color, clarity and software that comes with it... unit is very solid and looks great. Can't beat it for the price.

I used to own one of those huge bulky 19" inch flat-screen monitors before this one, and am I glad I made the switch - so much space on my desk now!! Now about the monitor itself: Beautiful colors, awesome size so if you're into gaming like I am this is a new experience. Also, this is perfect for web-designers and those who use photo-editors and the likes. Plenty of room to leave all toolbars, menus, etc. on the screen.
I actually bought mine a little over a year ago, and I know now they have monitors with a higher contrast ratio, but this is perfect. I do not intend on replacing while it still works.
great montior but try to buy them at a lower price and better service at COSTCO's

Like any purchase of considerable value, I went over a fair number of reviews before committing to a purchase, Suffice to say this is my second Samsung 22" monitor as I need multiple screens for my kind of work.
As I try to think of helpful comments to make, I can only come to this;
1) You can not get more of a monitor than the video card is able to do.So spending time comparing highly technical monitor performance metrics is an exercise in futility.
2) While manufacturers go out of their way to make product claims, 90% of all monitors are made by the same 2 or 3 manufacturers in China. Don't buy into the idea hat brand x is better than brand y. Chances are they are the same product with different packaging.
3) I have had a 225BW and a 226BW
working 24/7 for a year now and they are very sturdy and reliable.
3) Beware of "out of the box" and refurbished goods. They are not worth the price and getting the traditionally good Amazon customer service from Amazon has become considerably harder and altogether a very annoying experience, unless of course you are proficient at Hindi.Complaint letters to Jeff Besos, once very effective procedure, now go unanswered.
4) CostCo has repeatedly offered this model at a lower price and frankly, they have much better customer service and naturally you save on shipping.
5) Avoid using the otherwise very good mage enhancing software provided by Samsung as it does not interface well with Windows XP
Overall a good buy.
Excellent monitor 2008-07-18
I use this monitor for Photoshop and other graphic apps. The color seems very accurate, which is important. Samsung makes great products ansd you can't go wrong with this monitor.
Broke after 4 months.

Perfect out of the box 2008-06-02
I bought this monitor about 2 months ago from Amazon. From the moment I connected it to my computer, I have been impressed at the clarity and contrast of the monitor.
I do video editing on the monitor using HD video. The picture quality is amazing.
I have the monitor connected using the DVI cable to a Nvidia Quadro FX 560 graphics card. I have had no issues with color, response or anything.
I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone.
On Price / Performance It Can't Be Beat 2008-06-01
I started buying Samsung products back when they released their first MGA-compatible monochrome monitor for the PC/XT. Oops! Dating myself here. It was a budget brand then, but the quality impressed me. Samsung has been my go-to brand for monitors ever since. Better performing than most "name brands" at a lower cost.
The 226BW is no exception. I was a little hesitant to replace my CRT for gaming, but this monitor is fast enough that I don't really miss it. Not to mention it takes up less space on my desk, and no radiation burns! The only regret you'll have when buying this is that it's not a 24-inch. This 22-inch monitor is still not quite wide enough to place two full-size documents side-by-side without overlap. If that's important to you I recommend you save up for the wider one. Just one minor complaint really... as others have pointed out, the shiny bezel scratches easily.
In case you were wondering, my Samsung MGA monitor still works 25 years later. Can't seem to come up with a use for it though!
Grab These Before They're Gone!!!!! 2008-05-30
I own two Samsung's 226BW's used on a video editing system. The performance is very good. I needed another 22-inch monitor, and I thought Samsung's newer 2253BW would be just as good. WRONG!!!! I thought that text on the 226BW's wasn't quite sharp enough, so I substituted a 2253BW for comparison. The difference was amazing. The 226's appear to be significantly sharper! Don't get me wrong... the 2253's are OK, but, given a choice, scarf up some of the last 226BW's!!! You will not be sorry. Note that the 2253's no longer have the VESA mounting capability, and the tilt is so stiff that I remove the base to make tilt adjustments (for fear of cracking the case or screen).
Gorgeous Display 2008-05-17
I purchased this display recently to upgrade an old 19" NEC that finally packed it in. I am extremely impressed with this 22" Samsung display. I have it connected to my computer using the supplied DVI cable and the quality of the image is amazing. I do a lot of digital photography work and because of the extended display area I am able to keep a lot more of my editing tools available on the screen at the same time.
The contrast ratio is pretty good even though sometimes I wish it had a bit more contrast. Overall, I really like this display and would recommend it.
