Does what it should and lets you keep you informed with data

This is a fine UPS. The display panel is of great use and supplies a lot of information, much of it trivial but some like trivia. The UPS powers a Mac Pro with 12 gig of ram, 4 hard drives, an LCD monitor, a dsl modem, a router, a telephone, answering machine and a desk lamp, and it still using only 28% of its capacity. I ran my system for just over 15 minutes during a recent blackout before the system warned me I needed to shut down. And... The price is great, half what I paid a couple of years ago for a lesser UPS.
So far so good.

I bought this about a month ago now and it has gone through at least two power outages without any issues. I have never had a problem with any APC products.
WORKS BETTER THEN BELKIN

I purchased this a few months ago and all I can say is AWESOME !!!
I have owned the Belkin Universal UPS 1200 for about 4 years and it just crashed on me...Belkin was ok, but with this APC Powerpack your getting the Lexus of UPS Systems...you wont go wrong with the monster :)

APC BR1500LCD UPS: works great with mac pro and more
2008-06-22
I have been using this unit for about two months and have had one area wide power outage and also one tripped circuit breaker due to air conditioning in my old building. The unit worked exactly as expected! With out installing any software (the mac OS X recognizes the UPS as soon as you connect the USB cable) the computer was able to shut down automatically when needed, and recognized the APC was providing power. I had time to properly save my sessions and shut them down. I replaced a nice Tripp Lite 1000VA UPS system because I needed more power and I read the reviews on this one which were overall very positive. With the mac pro and a 20" LCD cinema display, I am also running a Pro Tools 003 Rack, a Mackie 1604 mixer, a modem, router, and external hard drive on the APC unit and it handles them all with room to spare. It also conditions the power going to these sensitive components. The LCD screen provides important information and is very easy to read. I highly recommend the APC BR1500LCD for those looking to protect a similar home studio set up.
A nontechnical review
2008-06-17
By all means, if you are a computer nerd, read other Amazon reviews for the technical details. From a strictly layperson's point of view, we researched backup products, and this product is one of the best on the market. You will, however, need someone who has some computer skills to install the software, but my husband told me that it wasn't difficult. We bought ours on May 15, and there is a burn-in time for the smell to go away; it's now June 17, and most of the smell has subsided. We tried another product, and the electrical smell was overwhelming, but this one will eventually burn off.
We have lived in the same location for 17 years, and we are guaranteed to have a minimum of 10 power outages a year. Our electrical service is the pits, and I should have invested in this backup years ago to protect my computer. Since installing this product last month, my computer was already rescued from one power outage. Your computer will run a minimum of 45 minutes on backup, either giving you the opportunity to shut it down without incident, or if the power returns, the backup will transition you back to main power with nothing lost. The price has gone up somewhat from the $200 that we paid, which was a fair price with super saver shipping.
So far it's great

The Back-UPS RS offers high performance protection for your business and office computer systems. It provides abundant battery backup power, allowing you to work through medium and extended length power outages. It also safeguards your equipment from damaging surges and spikes that travel along utility, phone and network lines. A distinguishing feature of the Back-UPS RS is automatic voltage regulation (AVR). AVR instantly adjusts both low and high voltages to safe levels, so you can work indefinitely during brownouts and overvoltage situations, saving the battery for power outages when you need it most. Award-winning shutdown software automatically powers down your computer system in the event of an extended power outage.
APC BR1500LCD Review

The product lives up to its evaluation and it was professional shipped from the vendor.
APC BR-1500LCD is great!!!
2008-05-13
This is a great battery back-up and surge protector.
If you want to good one, make sure it's the BR-1500LCD, if it's not the BR then it is a cheaper, consumer version that is lower cost and lower surge and brown-out protection.
Spend the extra money and get the BR-1500LCD, it's worth it if you have expensive equipment plugged in to it.
Does what it is supposed to

I've had this item a few months now and we lost power recently (April storms...) . It was great because I was in the middle of scanning/uploading pictures for my mother-in-law's 60th birthday. The first time, the power dropped for a couple of seconds. No problem. Then it went out completely. I just finished the picture I was working on and finished an email I was working on. DSL was still working. Then I just powered everything down. Great !!!!!
PROS:
- Works like it is supposed to and simple. Even my Grandma (were she alive) could hook this thing up.
CONS:
- I hooked up the Cable TV coax and it created a buzzing sound in my speakers. So I'm not using the coax hookup.
- Very short power cord, maybe 3 feet? I had to use an extension cord for an extra couple of feet, gives it a cheap look. Not a big deal, but keeps it from getting the 5 stars it should deserve.
Disappointed

I'm not disippointed in the product, I'm disippointed in the ad. When I read the specs it said that it was 50 - 60 HZ. It's only 60 HZ. They have since fixed the ad. It dosen't help me because I'm in a 50HZ country. I guess it will work when I get back to the States.
