AMAZING EARPHONES!!!! 2008-05-12
Those are the best earphones I bought till now. I bought many of them, before these ones I really like to use the apple ones with the silicones buds ([...]) for the base, these SHURE ones are even better! the sound is crisp clear and the base not too strong just good enough. The sound isolation IS AMAZING I take the plane often and I don't hear what so ever but the music. What I like about these earphones are that it has many many kinds of buds you can chose from to fit in your ears. The only cons, it's too short so you have to connect it with the other wire and it makes it a little inconvenient and heavier than it should be. I love them so much I really recommend anyone who wants to hear QUALITY sound music EVERY Where you are at. on a scale of 10 I would give 9.

SE210 - A Good Decision 2008-04-15
Just received my SE210, after using the E2C for a couple of months, I wanted to try an upgrade. I researched the SE210 and SE310 at length, but overall found the 210 to be excellent value. Purchased at a great price. My immediate "feel" is that the buds feel smaller in the ear. The plastic outer shell seems to lie flatter and smaller on the ear.

There are several styles of covers so help get a good fit. I've never had any problem hearing a good bass from Shure. Especially after carefully reading the instructions for proper fit. These SE210 seem to be lighter and an easier fit. The connecting wire is not heavy - but if you carry your MP3 in a shirt pocket, you can use the shorter connection and reduce the extra wire.

I immediately pulled up a sustained guitar riff from Bucket Head, and though the buds aren't even broken it yet, I got good sound from a wide range. Since I don't go for the heavy bass of rap, I feel these buds will perform as good or better than my original set. I notice one difference in the wire configuration as compared to the lower priced set. That is that the lower cost ones actually seem to have a better connection at the bud that might reduce wear and tear.

Shure is unusal for modern electronics in that they have a 2 year warranty. Until I get more use from this pair, I won't be able to determine whether or not they are that much better than the E2C. I do recommend the Shure product for quality.

Shure SE210-K 2008-03-21
While the sound of these earphones is fine, keeping them in my ears is another story. After finding the right ear fitting, I still need to wrap the cords around the top of my ears to keep them from falling out. It's uncomfortable and annoying. For $140, I expected better. On the up-side, I use them at work to block out the sounds of my fellow employees, who tend to be very loud. Once I have the earphones in place correctly, they do block out the sounds and I only need to have my music on the lowest setting to enjoy, thus saving my ears from loud-music damage.

Wow... 2008-03-07
I've been toying with the Bose noise cancelling cans for a while now... Something about them just meant I couldn't hand over the cash. I had tried a set of "in-ear" phones before and found them uncomfortable and difficult, so I was really against getting this sort again.

However - pressure from a friend made me check out these Shure ones, and I am so glad I did.... These are unbelievable! Great sound quality, with really comfortable fit that means I can wear them for my regular 9hr flights without any discomfort or aching which I get from others... The biggest thing I've also noticed is that I listen to my iPod at only half volume - where before I needed it almost on full on an airoplane just to hear it...

Do your ears a big favour - buy some of these.

Incredible sound from a little package 2008-03-01
I purchased a pair of these four months ago and absolutely love them. However, these are not for everyone. First and foremost you have to learn how to wear them and you need to find the right sleeves for you.

For me, I found that the small silicone/rubber sleeve fit best. I may not get as good of a seal with these, but for extended wear (2-3 hours at a shot) they fit comfortably.

On to the sound. Simply incredible. I have been truly amazed by the sound quality. More importantly you do not have to really crank up your MP3 player to hear the details. When I first bought this I was using an iRiver H10 (20gb) MP3 player, and there was a noticeable difference. Then in January of '08 I bought an iPhone and all I can say is WOW!

Pros:
1. Overall, incredible sound, with great details
2. Extension cable male end fits the iPhone's small form (many headphones will not fit the iPhone without and adapter)
3. Excellent sound isolation -- significantly reduces background noise

Cons:
1. Can be difficult to learn to wear
2. Cable is too short, even with the extension cable. It could really use an extra 1-2 ft.
3. Bass is a little weak

Lastly the price may scare some people off. I did take me a little bit of a leap of faith to part with the $150 I paid at Best Buy, but it has been totally worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a second pair.

WOW.. Buy them NOW! 2008-07-25
OK - so the price is kind of high, the box doesnt say B&O,and they look weird. Thats all pretty meaningless once you get these into (yes, INTO) your ears. The sound isolation is fantastic. I had my ipod on 20% loudness and I had a crew of workers hammering the life out of my roof... All I could hear was music. You might read some reviews about there not being enough bass (I disagree). You might read a review that the sound isolation is too much?! Um, those people should probably buy 11 dollar sony earbuds.

Shure makes fantastic microphones. This is my first set of earphones by them and I don't think I am going to be rushing back to using my Sony MDR-V600s any time soon.

Does what it supposed to do 2008-07-13
First, let me say that I am not an audiophile. I enjoy music. Until now, I have used stock earphones or cheaper (around $50) Sony earphones. I wanted to try a sound-isolating earphones that did not require battery. Reading the reviews, it seemed like SE210 was a nice compromise of price/performance. It took me a few tries but I was able to find a comfortable plug. I was amazed at the sound isolation once I achieved the proper insertion! Sound quality is excellent. I was amazed to hear the details I have been missing. Everything sounds crisp clear. I have to agree with other reviewers that the bass is a bit lacking even with the ipod set at heavy bass. My other complain has to do with the cords. It has a very short cord that needs to be plugged into the extension. I am truly stumped why it's this way. Without the extension, there is no way you can use the earphones. Why not have a longer cord and skip the extension?

Good sound, shoddy construction, no support 2008-06-16
I got these as a gift and was very pleased. Nothing compares remotely. The sound was incredible. Six months later, the insulation on the wires (where they wrap around your ears) split open. The person who gave them to me has since died of a heart attack. I contacted Shure and they said they would only honor the 2 year warranty if I had the original receipt. Obviously, I had no way to get it. I wrote back and pointed out that since they had not been producing this model it MUST still be covered under warranty. In response, I got a rude note pointing out the fine print in the warranty that says I must prove I purchased them from an "authorized Shure dealer." Look to another manufacturer...

Great Clarity, comfortable, bass lacking 2008-06-04
After reading the reviews I decided to purchase this.

1. The foam inserts on the earbuds are comfortable and stay in
2. The cord is very short like you would wear an armband MP3 or a shirt pocket but they give you an extension that is plenty long to put in your pants pocket. I like this setup, some don't.
3. The sound is very detailed. Highs are not harsh and mids are detailed without being obtrusive. Mid bass is decent with the sound of a tight drum like a completely sealed enclosure woofer. Low bass is there if you put pressure on the earbuds and hold them into ears for a complete seal. The foam fits good but to get a perfect seal is very hard while jogging or moving around. Without the perfect seal low bass is hard to hear.
4. The wires are sturdy as is the plug. I sense they will hold up to a good deal of abuse.

I would probably test out a few other models before I bought this set again.

the wires 2008-05-21
I had a pair of the older SE2s. The noise blocking, I thought, was so-so. It was still too noisy onboard an airplane to get really good listening, even using the foam earpieces.

But the real problem was, the earwires cracked and then shorted. On both sides, about an inch below the earpiece indicating that stretching them tightly around the back of the ear for optimum fit was too much for them.

I wear them while running so a tight fit is essential. Did I do something wrong?? Worst part is that they are not repairable. In desperation I attempted to strip the insulation and retwist the tiny speaker wires and then drop solder on them, but it was unsucessful. I believe they were just a little over a year old.

How do the newer shures, the 210s, stack up against the older ones? Has anyone else had trouble with the integrity of the wires? I will have to use the cheap earphones that came with my player until I can afford to get another good set, and this time I will be careful to register them for the 2 year warranty.
