very sweet

upgraded from e2c's. Quite a jump. I'm not hearing that many things that i haven't heard before in my music, but everything is definitely much more defined has more character. I'm definitely loving these to death.
remember 2 things:
1. the reviewers who give this a bad review due to tinny/shallow sound and no bass do not understand canal phones. you have to make it fit perfectly airtight because the phones are designed to use the acoustics of your ear canals as soundstages as opposed to just blasting sound in from outside the canal.
2. These are not for super bass fiends. To get that really thumping bass I have to adjust my EQ. These were made for clear and accurate reproduction and for making everything sound nice across the whole spectrum.
what a disappointment

I don't know if I got a bad pair or if they are just not worth the money. Music sounds awful, tinny and shallow. Tried them on several devises and have been totally disappointed. A pair of Sony's that came free with a $30.00 radio sound better.
The Best I've Heard

It took quite a bit of adjusting with the various ear pieces until I found the perfect combination and all I can say is "WOW". Like others have said, The new sounds you hear are unbelieveable. I have a pair of Bose earphones that I thought were incredible. Now I'm sure I'll only use them when I want to hear what's going on around me, of course, at the expense of loosing the pure sound I get from the Shure 310s. I can only imagine what the 530's sound like.
Very Nice Upgrade...

My hope was to find a replacement for my Sennheiser PX100's which sound great, but bleed too much sound. I wanted something that would provide adequate sound isolation to block out background noise while I listen to my iPod at work. According to what I read in reviews and found when I shopped around, it seemed the Shure SE310's were the best buy. So, I took the plunge, and here's what I found...
Pros:
- Lots of included options to help achieve a proper and comfortable fit.
- Feels like an expensive pair of headphones. Well built.
- Capable of amazing sound.
- Although I don't know how much use I'll get out of it, the included case is a nice touch.
- Good sound isolation. I can blast it at work and no one can hear.
Cons:
- Sound best with amp.
- Scary price for those contemplating an upgrade on a budget.
- Fit takes a little bit of getting used to.
At the prices you can get them (great deals if you look), these headphones are incredible. I was skeptical that headphones so small could sound as good as some say these do. I've had them a few days now and, they do sound as good as they say. I smiled when I hooked them up to my iPod... My jaw dropped when I hooked them up to my headphone amp. They make a very clean and well rounded sound, much bigger than you'd expect.
My honest opinion is that if you don't have an amp for these and you're afraid of the price, you may have buyer's remorse. However, if you do have an amp or a good computer sound card you will love these headphones... You'll be amazed something so small can produce such huge sounds.
finally!

Finally, after trying all the attachments they provided and none of them either sounding good or deadening outside noise, the last ones did so perfectly! I wore them on a plane even when not listening to music. The sound needed some getting used to and some tweaking on my MP3 player, but now I can listen at half the volume I used to need to on the NYC subways. Wish I would have known about these years ago!

First let me say that I bought these because I was in idiot and carelessly destroyed my other pair of Shure headphones. But, I will come back to that.
I spent a little more than I wanted to. I knew from previous experience that Shure products were fabulous. And I was not disappointed. I don't make a move without my Shure headphones. I would be horrified to find myself at the airport without them. I won't get into all the technical reasons they are superior. I will just say that they are without peer.
Back to me first pair. They got destroyed through my own carelessness. 100% my fault. I took a chance and sent them to the Shure repair center with a copy of the receipt, and a copy of the receipt for my new pair that I bought on Amazon. 7 days later a brand new pair showed up with a zero charge invoice. Now, that is a company that I will come back to again and again. THANK YOU Shure!!
My advice, buy the most expensive pair you can without getting yourself in fiscal trouble. You will not be dispointed.
Excellent product

Sound quality is truly impressive and that's all that matters. My only gripe is that cord is too short for any meaningful use. There is extension cord supplied but then it becomes too long and starts to tangle.
Shure SE310-K heaphones

Ordered in Maastricht (Netherlands, EU) and received within 3 weeks on the first day of the estimated day of receiving the item.
Sound quality of the headphones are good, but lack a bit in bass-response, especially in electronic music like trance, house, techno and dance and hip-hop. All other sounds are great, like guitars, piano, violins and voices.
Worth the 200 dollar.
music playing ear plugs
2008-04-28
It's like ear plugs that play music. The sound quality is very good and the ear buds come with 3 styles of plugs. Triple flange plastic ear plugs. Foam compression in four sizes. Rubber bulb style ear plugs in three sizes. Overall, I would say they're great for air planes and stuff where there is a lot of back ground noise, but if you're in a subway or working out, you're probably better off with some other kind that you could still hear a little through, because they are very effective at blocking background noise.
Impressive

While I did buy these, it was a gift and in turn I was awarded with an hour of listening time. So my review is not based upon long-term use. As well, I am not an audiophile and probably wouldn't win a hearing contest, but have played and been around music my entire life.
If you want a good balance of frequencies, the SE310 would fit the bill. I have owned a variety of headphones over the years, and have 2 Bose sets (over and in) that are the most I have paid until now. Both Bose sets are heavy on the bass, and not much treble or mid. By contrast, the Shure SE310 offer a completely different sound. I heard frequencies and tones that I haven't heard before. It was impressive.
My only knock was that I thought the bass response was a little low (with the equalizer off), but it wouldn't have stopped me from getting a pair - I opted to nab a pair of SE530 instead. The 310 was my second choice. The last item (and is mentioned in nearly every review) is to ensure that a good seal is formed with the ear canal. I have worn ear plugs for years, so it wasn't a big deal. But it took my buddy a while to get the hang of it.
