This cord works great, and it is much cheaper than the one that they sell at bestbuy.
Why pay more? 2008-06-30
So far so good! This cable seems solidly constructed and delivers good image quality. Given that the Wii's strength is not in its graphics engine anyway, it's hard to imagine that paying for the more expensive ones would make much of a difference.
Could be a redundant purchase

Soon after getting my Wii, started thinking about replacing the factory cable with the high resolution version. On my 60" Sony, the picture was terrible with my original setup. About a month later I replaced my receiver with a newer version that does up-scaling of any source to HDMI 1080p. The improvement in the picture was amazing. I then wondered how much better it could get.
So I purchased the High Resolution component cable. There is some minor improvement, but nothing really to write home about. From 8 feet away the picture looks just as sharp as the factory cable with the up-scaling receiver. Just for kicks, I hooked it all up using my original receiver and I was amazed at how much better the picture was than with the factory cable.
Basically, if your receiver can perform up-scaling, you won't find much use for the High Resolution Wii component cable. If you don't use a receiver or have an older one, then this is the product for you.

It's a digital signal, there's no difference between cables. Go for the cheapest out there. Cable worked as promised and resolution went from 480i -> 480p. Images are sharper and colors are better. However, don't expect a huge difference.
Suitable as a cheap alternative to the official cable

Because of the price, I decided to give this cable a try before I spent $30 on the first-party offering. The cables worked fine - however, I was a bit disappointed with the image quality, so I bought a set of official cables and I saw a little bit of improvement - nothing spectacular, but I could definately notice a difference (while I played other games with both cables, I used Super Mario Galaxy as kind of a "benchmark").
I figured after spending $600 on a TV, I would go ahead and pay more for the official cable, and for me the quality increase was worth it. Also, these cables may look better on a higher-end tv than my "budget" model (Vizio 32").
Basically, this cable works decently: it provides a picture and it reduces input lag (less work for the TV to do). They seem to be a fine alternative if you don't have the money for the official cables, but my suggestion would be to get a better set and be done with it.

Most of these cables might work fine but the one I got was bad. The Red channel wire didn't work. I don't know if I was just unlucky or they have poor quality control and a lot of them are bad. I didn't want to wait around for another one to be shipped so I went to the store and had to pay $24.95. At least it was this nice one Monster Cable one. Makes the connection as good as it can be 2008-07-19
The cables are a good item for the price. The Wii only outputs in 480p maximum, so if you're expecting true realism, you aren't going to get it regardless of the cables. It did seem to make Legend of Zelda have more detail which is what I was after. For $7 (with S/H) it's worth the money. I wouldn't spend the money though if I had to pay the $30 that Nintendo was wanting for their's.
Great improvement 2008-07-15
my buddy and I own the same 47" 1080 HDTV -- he has his Wii hooked up with analog, and I i splurged the $4 for the component cables. WELL WORTH IT. They make a significant difference in the animation quality. While Wii only outputs 480, you get the best possible picture out of it with this cable. for the price it's a no brainer... you will be satisfied. and if for some reason you're a hater and aren't satified, well... it's less than the price of a starbucks... and it sounds like you should probably skip the coffee anyway.
Component cables for wii 2008-07-09
These cables work exactly how i had wanted them to. They really do improve the smoothness and fine detail of the graphics, its not night and day, but it is a noticeable difference. I'm very happy with them, i was skeptical at first with the price being so low but i ran into no problems at all. If you own a wii you should definately buy component cables and why not save money by buying these, they do the same thing as the expensive name brand ones.

This Wii HD cable makes all the difference. I was skeptical at first but am a true believer now. It works great and the shipping was lightning fast. Very happy with this purchase!
