I took this product after an extended treatment with antibiotics, and I think the quality and efficacy of the product is excellent. And best of all: the price. They are inexpsensive and widely available. Highly recommended.

I notice no difference between before taking and 30 days after...

No observed effect

As a result of an opereation I had in my early 20s, I've had digestive problems for over 30 years. I was hoping that this product would improve my digestion, but alas it did not. I used all 30 tablets, but was unable to detect any effect of any kind. I would have given it only one star, but since it didn't hurt me, I decided to give it two.
Seems to work?

This may not be the most authoritative review ever written. I did give the product ample time, however, not to mention began taking it, stopped, and restarted to measure its effects on me. I even avoided reading anything about the product so it wouldn't act as any kind of "placebo".
After reading, it seems as though it would, or should, do as intended, aiding your digestion, similar to, say, yogurt.
If you've got problems that you think this product would assist, give it a shot. I'm not the target audience for it, but it does seem as though is could be useful to many.
Sustenex Probiotics
2008-03-14
To preface this review, I'd like to note that I'm not a sufferer of any digestive disorder or related illness, so my use of Sustenex's probiotic capsules was not intended to treat or improve a specific condition. In light of this, I'm dealing with Sustenex's claims that the product may improve the digestive and immune health of anyone who takes it.
This package contains 30 capsules, enough for one month of recommended once-a-day use. As the product's brochure (and the Amazon product page) touts, one capsule of Sustenex contains more active cultures than yogurt, which is good news. There are lots of health sources that point to the health and immune system benefits of active cultures that live in yogurt (the SuperFoods Rx book is one of them). When your body and digestive tract react to and deal with the bacteria in yogurt, it's kind of like a "workout" to keep your immune system sharp, so when a really nasty bug comes your way, your immune system can either defeat it outright, or deal with the infection more quickly and at less of a cost to your health. So, Sustenex's "Ganaden-BC30" active cultures should be very good for the user's digestive health and immune system.
Why only 3 stars? After taking this supplement for a month, I really didn't notice any difference (good or bad) in my digestive health or generally in my immune system. It's not that I think the product didn't work--I'm a firm believer that long-term health and immune system function are based on choices that you make on a day-to-day basis, the effects of which are cumulative, not based on a wonder pill that changes your body instantly. For all I know, Sustenex contributed greatly to my health, there's just not really a way for me to tell, which definitely affects what I write to you, the review reader. If you want a product that will magically prevent you from ever getting sick and prevent you from ever having an upset stomach or gas, Sustenex will disappoint you greatly (and I don't know what supplement will actually meet your expectations!). If you believe probiotics can benefit your life in a slightly less quantifiable way and are interested in taking a capsule, Sustenex seems like a good choice to me. I really can't bring myself to rate the product 5 stars, though, because I didn't see any direct, causal relationship between the state of my health and taking the capsules. If you do buy Sustenex, I recommend taking lots of water with each capsule--a couple times I had pretty foul burps about an hour after taking the capsule, perhaps because I didn't send it through my digestive system with enough water and speed!
The best probiotic on the market!

Having suffered IBS my whole life this supplement along with Digestive Advantage IBS keeps me feeling "normal." Plus an added bonus with this product it does not need refrigeration like most competitors.

This is a wonderful product. My stomach used to hate me I would have pain every time I ate. Now it is fine and doesn't hate me anymore.
Diarrhea to die for

This stuff tore up my digestive system. The first week I took it, things were ok. The subsequent week, it caused severe abdominal distress, stomach pain and cramping, and diarrhea that lasted days. Took my system a week to get back to normal. Tossing the rest in the trash!
Good stuff

Probiotics are a life saver for those of us with IBS. I think one pill a week is enough though I don't need to reestablish the little bug colony more than that. I love this product.
Not convinced

This product makes a good pitch to the consumer -- a priobiotic alternative to yogurt that offers many of the same digestive benefits without the dietary concerns (calories, sugar, etc). However, while I didn't experience any digestive trouble while taking this, I didn't experience any notable changes. It seemed to probably be helping a little? But not enough that I really noticed one way or the other. Because of this, I remain somewhat unconvinced that it's worth the cost, especially when, despite the added calories, yogurt is much more appealing to me.
