Editorial Review
The LC-37GP1U model includes special features that enhance the game-playing experience, including a "game mode" which optimizes the picture quality for game-playing and a custom-designed remote control that allows the user to quickly "jump" into the game mode and access the side-placed terminals for easy connections to video games. The game mode provides a newly developed "Vyper Drive" feature, which reduces lag time between the game console and the TV to be virtually imperceptible. This 37-inch panel boasts 8500: 1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio for deep blacks and crisp picture quality; enhanced Fine Motion video circuitry for faster pixel response time of 6ms; and wide viewing angles of 176 degrees, so users can view the television from virtually anywhere in the room. It also includes Sharp's proprietary 4-wavelength backlight system that provides a wider color spectrum to achieve deeper, more vivid reds than was previously possible. Additionally, the GP1U series include three HDMI inputs (with one on the side) as well as two HD component terminals (one on the side), all of which are compatible with 1080p signals from the latest video game devices. The LC-37GP1U features Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution and 10Wx2 audio for an unparalleled high-definition viewing and listening experience.

Great for DVDs; Okay for broadcast 2007-08-21
Bought this through Amazon (via a reseller), and it arrived on time and in perfect condition. The unit looks great, and the sound is fabulous. Playing DVDs, the picture is just about as good as it gets from an LCD. BUT . . . I bought the Aquos in part to watch sports, and high-def cable TV pictures of live events are simply disappointing. Pinstripes on uniforms wobble; grass on the infield is jumpy--especially on wide shots. UPDATE: I should note that my cable system (Cablevision's iO) sends its signal in 1080i--not 1080p--which means the Aquos can't really strut its stuff . . . UPDATE II: I finally figured out how to get the cable signal to the set via HDMI and the picture is utterly fabulous. MAKE SURE TO USE AN HDMI CABLE!! I was a dope not to have figured this out right away.

Product good, but watch the shipping from Beach Audio 2007-04-16
I have this on order from Beach Audio which I ordered in Stock earlier this month. The shipping company they use is slower than molasses in Alaska during a cold winter. They just now got around to shipping today. I can understand wanting to insure the TV shows up in good shape, but using a company that take longer than a week to get around to start shipping it to you after paying $125 is not the way to do it. Again I reiterate the TV was in stock. The TV was given to AIT Shipping and the TV shipped...today. After talking to Beach Audio with a less than nice person, she basically said if I cancelled the order and went with someone that can get it to me weeks earlier I would have to eat the shipping fees. Great. All this BS the TV better be in damned good shape.

Amazing 2007-04-10
This is my second HDTV and it is simply amazing to look at. You will not be disappointed with this TV.

Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV 2008-07-02
This TV is wonderful. The picture is so clean and sharp. It is a very good investment. I also have a 42-inch and a 32-inch HDTV Sharp LCD 1080p
Very easy to install, and packaged very well

Tips 2008-06-12
This is my second LCD HDTV to use with my HTPC for games/movies/web browsing/etc. I upgraded to this set for the 1080p resolution. My previous Samsung LCD also had dead pixels... this one had none!

While 1920x1080 resolution is a beautiful thing, you MUST tweak the settings after hooking it up to your PC.

First, press "View mode" on your remote and enable "Dot By Dot." This will eliminate overscan and fuzzy text.

You'll also want to decrease the sharpness, unless you enjoy looking at JPEG compression artifacts. Hit "MENU" and change it to -5 for optimal viewing.

I also recommend flipping open the bottom portion of the remote and using "GAME" AV MODE... it's much easier on the eyes when you're sitting right in front of it.

This LCD is a solid buy and I am not disappointed.

Works as Advertised. Great Gaming TV 2008-02-18
The main selling point for this TV is a lag-free gaming TV. And guess what? It's just that, lag free! In extremely time-sensitive games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, you can play these games with zero calibration out-of-the-box, no matter which input or screen resolution you use. It even supports 1080p with Component, a big plus for us Xbox 360 users that don't have an Elite.

Picture quality is good, sound quality is good, and everything else about the TV is good. The only thing is that you only have one HDMI and one Component port for the "Vyper Drive", so you should consider an HDMI, Component, and/or Composite video switch if you have multiple consoles. The other inputs are fine for your non-gaming needs such as DVD players and such.

Well worth the money if you're a serious gamer.

Nice set 2008-02-08
My husband and I extensively researched the field before making the leap to HDTV. I looked at the reviews from Consumer Reports and He wanted a TV that he could plug his laptap into for programming and watching downloaded movies. This is a beautiful set that meets our needs.

HDTV used as a PC Monitor 2007-12-14
Yes I use this gaming TV as a monitor with Vista. I use this to: browse the web, watch DVD movies and play video games. My video card does 1660x1050 and this monitor can do 1900x1200 at 85Hertz. It took a little fussing to get this to work properly but I'm satisfied with the picture. Web browsing is acceptable. I notice a difference between running it at 60Htz and 75Htz which is the best my video card can do. I think I'll upgrade the card soon. Movies are great!!! The quality of the picture is great. Games I have to say are mediorce. There is a gaming mode which has a low latency refresh rate. I used this with Age of Empires 3. I didnt notice a difference between gaming and regular mode but then again the game is not that graphic intensive. I got this for 1300.00 which I consider a fair price. This is my first HDTV so I wanted to low ball a smaller size before I get a larger size. With 1080p this will remain i my house for a long time. I'm finding that the new LCD HDTV's coming out, improve the refresh rates to 120 hertz which upgrades the picture quality remarkably. All in all this was a good investment for the price.
