Editorial Review
Stay in tune and connected while strolling down the street with the Motorola Motorokr S9 active Bluetooth headphones. Combining ease of use with the latest Bluetooth wireless technology, the phones are ideal for Bluetooth-enabled cell phone owners or for iPod owners with compatible adapters. The S9 phones are distinguished by a behind-the-head design that weighs just over an ounce, providing the ultimate in comfort whether you're working out or riding mass transit. The phones' ultra-compact 0.51-inch ear buds, meanwhile, fit softly in the ear even during extended use--a must for long conversations or listening sessions. And users will love the innovative touch-sensitive controls on the sides of the headband. The touch controls let you easily adjust the volume, skip or repeat tracks, or answer a phone call while on the move.

The stylish S9 wireless headphones fit comfortably behind the ear and weigh just over an once.
The S9 phones make a terrific workout partner thanks to the wireless technology and the water- and sweat-resistant design. Want to listen to your iPod at the gym without getting tangled in wires? Buy an iPod Bluetooth adapter and you're set. Alternatively, you can listen to your mobile phone's music selection during tough workouts, or even music from your home stereo while lifting weights nearby using the DC800 stereo adapter.

The phones are compatible with Bluetooth 2.0-enabled cell phones, iPods with Bluetooth adapters, and select other devices.
Phone-wise, the S9 headphones are built to provide superior call quality, less interference, and faster connections thanks to the Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology. Class 2 Bluetooth also provides a range of up to 33 feet--enough for a variety of home and portable applications. For optimal outdoor performance, users should position the music device in close proximity to and in the line of sight of the S9's internal antenna, which is located in the base behind the user's head. Placing the music device in a front pocket is not recommended.

Other details include support for up to six hours of music listening or seven hours of talk from a single charge of the 180 mAh lithium-ion battery; a mini USB connector for charging; and a stylish black housing with red highlights. The phones measure 4.9 by 1.8 by 5.1 inches (W x H x D), weigh 1.14 ounces, and are backed by a one-year warranty.

Note: Motorola Bluetooth stereo products (headphones and adapters) are compatible with any brand of Bluetooth-enabled phone or music device that supports Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) protocols. In order for Bluetooth devices to communicate with one another, they must utilize the same Bluetooth profile. I like it 2008-07-10
I used to have the lg bluetooh stereo headset but...i went through two and both times they broke in the same spot. so i decided to try these, and they work really well. they are alot more durable becuase they are in one piece unlike the lg ones which were multiple pieces. Although the lg headset was able to collapse and easily stored away I think that is why they broke. This is the only downside of the Motorola headset, since it is one piece, i can't fold it and hide it.

other than that one downside, the sound quality is great and the controls are easy to use, the headset is easy to pair and it makes me happy because it does what i need.

Poor sound 2008-07-08
I was only able to get sound out of one ear peace and could not control the volume on the headset. The goal was to use it on a motorcycle using a Garmin Zumo 550 GPS along with XM radio. The ear inserts did not fit very well either.

good but should've been better 2008-07-08
the product is working fine with me...followed the instruction and everything went smooth..probably only con. that i found in it is that it doesn't connect to multiple devices, if its connected to my media player..i can't make it connect to my phone until i close it and open it again to connect with my phone...hmmm other than that i think its a pretty much a great product :)

Good Quality - Still Room For Improvement 2008-07-08
I love the S9. It finally relieved me of the wires that kept getting caught on door handles and getting damaged from "improper" folding when not in use. I sold my mp3 player and bought a large capacity memory card for my mobile phone and now I use it as mp3 player, video player and mobile phone.

The S9 is also pretty inconspicuous. Since I wear spectacles most persons figure its a band for holding the glasses on my head until they are close enough to see it clearly.

The audio quality of the S9 is actually quite excellent both for calls and playing music. I was most pleasantly surprised that I could speak very softly (almost a whisper) with the party on the other end of the call being able to hear me clearly.

I was worried before buying the S9 that it would be compatible with my mobile phone since I own a Sony Ericsson K790. However, they paired perfectly. I was also able to pair the S9 to my PC via a bluetooth adapter.

I only have two issues with the S9. The first is that it is not adjustable nor extensible. So for someone like me with a large head you have to locate the "sweet spot" at which it will fit comfortably on the head. Secondly, while the S9 works perfectly indoors, it doesn't perform as well while outdoors when the transmitter is not stationary. When I put my mobile phone down and walk around the music plays properly however, if I attach the phone to my belt clip the music skips periodically. I found that the only way i could avoid the skipping while walking was to clip the phone to the section of my belt at my back so that the phone is directly below the S9's receiver (or what I presume to be the receiver).

So all in all the product is quite good, but there is still room for some improvement.

beware - not for driving! 2008-07-07
Haven't tried this headset yet, but be aware that in California (and most other jurisdictions) you can't drive with both ears covered...

Horrible product 2008-07-17
I haven't even expected Motorola product is going to be this much worse. I really had a bad experience with this product.

1. Voice is just okie.. I felt like a hearing a stereo 10 years back recorded voice.
2. I can able to hear only in left ear when I am attending phone call, I don't know this is simply silly. I am having another Jabra BT620, this item is superb but only problem is it is little bulkier..
3. The product is not at all comfortable for wearing.
4. I attended phone call with 10 minutes duration I got pain at my ears. With Jabra 620 I use to attend offshore conference calls in the night around 30 to 60 minutes I never had such kind of bad experience.

Finally I returned item, haven't left with any other choice.

NerdBoyTV thinks MOTOROKR S9 is sleek and comfortable 2008-07-15
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R19KLNCVOANY5E On this episode of NerdBoyTV, Ryan Yee gives Motorola's MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Headset a closer look. Was recently on sale at T-Mobile for $39.99 (retails for $99)...a HOT buy!

Not powered off the iPod (a bad thing)...it's not a great bluetooth iPod solution but it works... 2008-07-14
Biggest problem: NOT POWERED OFF THE IPOD! Means you need yet another charger and have to remember to charge yet another item. That means 3 chargers to pack on vacation, and 3 battery sources that can be dead.

I tried to pair this with my iPod video and as other readers have said... it doesn't stay plugged in (even while walking and having it in your pocket). It plugs in rather loosely and has "play" that makes you wonder WHEN it will bend the wrong way and break (leaving the connection stuck in the iPod).

Also it's not built to last. The paint started scratching off on day 1, and it feels very cheaply built. It doesn't give you a clear indiciation of it turning off, so I've often left it on to find it drained when I was ready to use it.

Shoddy 2008-07-12
I have no basis of comparison, but you may want to try another Bluetooth headset. This thing just isn't that good. I have a Sony-Ericsson 580i Walkman phone (pretty good MP3 player for a phone and Bluetooth 2.0) I bought it for exercise and cleaning around the house (where a sacrifice in sound quality is worth the mobility). The sound quality is what I expected: good enough. But, I found that walking/running is out of the picture. The music skips when both the headset and phone are in motion; the connection doesn't break totally, it just cuts in and out. Otherwise, it is okay as long as you are in the same room and the phone is stationary. I can do situps (head-bobbing) and it works if phone is stationary. Also, the headset droops. You are supposed to be able to bend and shape it but it doesn't stay that well. And you need to keep it charged at all times. The battery life is okay; I've used it continuously for over an hour and it was going strong. But, last weekend I went out of town and my roommate unplugged the charger when the headset was fully charged and when I returned it was drained without being used. If I were you, I'd try that Sony one that is a few dollars more because this thing is Shoddy! Oh, I think my headsets balance is off a little. The right side always seems a little louder than the left.
