One fo the best usb flash drives i ever own, you will never lose any part of your drive, include cool applications and you can install more, excellent brand.
owned 1 and will buy another

I owned one of these for two years. I ... err ... washed it once (but didn't dry it- I'm not that bad ;-)) and it still worked. I finally broke it when the pc it was inserted into fell over and crushed it breaking the retractable usb jack right off. I was using it with portableapps as I didn't like U3. There is a U3 uninstaller on the site, but I believe that I wound up just deleting everything off the drive and installing portableapps. After I broke it, I bought a Kdata my flash. It is so slow compared to the cruzer that I just can't take it. I am about to order a new cruzer- 8 GB I think this time.
I had absolutely no problems with it once I removed the U3 programs, and I heartily recommend it.
You'll lose it from your key chain!!!

I've had 2 different Sandisks and on both the bar that holds the ring in the corner so you can put it on your key chain came detached enough so the ring slipped through. It was sheer luck that I caught sight of the drive dropping -- which it did several times before I figured out it wasn't the ring that came off but the bar that held it onto the drive that detached form the case on one side, leaving a micro-thin space so the ring could slip through but the space not visible to the eye.
This happened to me on the Titanium. Though it did not happen on my Sandisk micro, it did to my friend's -- and he gave me a micro as a gift.
When I called Sandisk about this 1. They claimed they never heard of this problem -- that is pretty hard to believe, since 2 different people with 2 different models but same key chain design had the exact same problem and 2. They want me to take a picture of the problem before they will address it -- well that's a joke -- you can't see it unless you get microscopic photography.
SO I got this b/c I did not want to keep losing caps and this has a retractable USB plug. But I guess losing caps is better than losing the drive itself.
And like everyone else -- I found the U3 annoying.
Worked as advertised. Feels a bit cheap.

Bought 2 of these and they worked first time on 2 different laptops. I deleted the U3 software as I had it on another USB drive and didn't really find it very useful and always had to wait for it install.
I like the slide out USB connector on this drive, but the whole thing is made of plastic and feels pretty flimsy. Guess that's why they have the titanium version at 2-3x the price of this one. You can't complain about the price.
SanDisk 4 GB Cruzer - Nice Flash Drive
2008-06-09
The Cruzer Drives are nice drives, but I could do without the U3 part of the drives. Oh, I know the U3 can be uninstalled, but still I am not thrilled with the U3 programs that are out there. There is only one program the I ended up buying it was the roboform U3 version of the full out Roboform version. I also have the full Roboform and come to find out that to syn-up both Roboform Programs I needed another program called good-sync. there was more money put out. Of course I am still happy that I have the U3 Roboform, it makes it handy if I needed the passwords from Roboform while using let say a library computer or a friends, I would have them on my SanDisk U3 drive.
A lot in a little package

I've had this flash drive for a few years now, and I have to say it is one of the best. I like the retractable USB because I don't have to worry about losing the cap. (Although I recently learned that the colored loop at the end of the Kingston is to hold the cap.) The U3 launchpad is really cool. You can add or remove programs as you wish and you can enable a security feature that requires a password to unlock the USB prior to use so if you lose it, no one can delete your files and steal you flash drive! I think it's easy to use (most USB drives are) but if you can't figure out how to change anything, I suggest reading the directions. It will take about 2 minutes, which is a reasonable amount of time to spend on reading.
Excellent Drive

The drive does come with software that I don't use, but it doesn't mean I won't use it since some people do use it. The software is not compatible with Vista but since I don't use it, I don't care. It's not much of an inconvenience and I haven't had any problems with the device.
Only reason I'm writing this review is that I was amazed by the quality of this product. I lost it in my laundry hamper, and it unfortunately went through a heavy cycle in the washer and later on a heated cycle through the dryer. I thought the device was toast and my files lost, but that wasn't the case. My files are in tact and I'm still using the same drive a month later (hope it doesn't fail, but if it does, at least I'll know why).
A little *too* at home on my computer...

First, the good news: the drive speed is okay. It is not blazingly fast by any means, but like other jump drives, it's not really intended as a hard drive replacement. If you want extra space on your hard drive, this is a reasonable option. It's nice to just be able to stick something in your pocket and be able to carry some movies or music with you to enjoy elsewhere, without having to bring CDs or an external hard drive.
Now, the bad news: the U3 software the drive comes with gets a little too comfortable on your computer. As mentioned in other reviews, it is installed automatically the first time the drive is plugged in, without asking first, and it floats annoyingly in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Its menus consist almost entirely of ads for McAfee, Skype and others. Its eject function is rarely successful, and it almost always complains when you use the Microsoft built-in hardware remover.
Overall, it is a functional product, but it is less well-behaved and much creepier than comparable drives from Kingston (which are marginally cheaper anyway--go figure). There are drives out there that don't come with hassles like these.
Worked great, until it SUDDENLY DIED in under a year

Yes. You can remove the nasty bloatware. But when it works fine in the evening, and then suddenly doesn't in the morning? Inexplicably. Suddenly. Just stops working, after 10 months of working perfectly?
And all SanDisk does is confirm it's the drive with a verbal shrug, and gives no explanation, let alone any data recovery options.
Love the U3 addition

The U3 addition is wonderful!!!... I am considering getting one for each of my children. This way they can customize it to their needs. It's like a little puter without the monitor and keyboard. Hubby loves his!!
