Warning: be extremely carefull with SanDick drives

I had this drive for six months. It worked fine until one day when U3 automatically insatalled EverNote software, which locked up the drive and it's now unusable. The worst part is that SanDisk said I need to talk to the software vendor and they can't help. The software vendor doesn't except calls, email only. You got the picture.

Wonderful product. I like its speed and capacity. Not a fan of the software it brings for security. It gives you the option of uninstalling it after a few steps, which saved this product from losing a star. The memory stick glows a nice blue color as it works. Tested it on Windows XP and Vista without issues.
SOLID STORAGE
2008-07-17
Wish these things had been available when I bought a Zip 250 drive and all those Zip "Super Floppies" a few years ago. Data storage is an area where amount and convenience have increased greatly and cost has steadily decreased.
Hate to date myself, but I was programming IBM mainframes from the mid-1960's onward when core and external storage was measured in kilobytes and 100 of those was a really big deal. People today have no idea what it is to be forced to scrimp and save on storage space constantly.
This SanDisk device seems to function as advertised and feels solid to the touch. Have a little difficulty getting it into a USB slot, but that seems to be improving with time and practice. As mentioned by other reviewers, data transfer does seem somewhat slow compared to other classes of storage devices, but is at least as fast as a Kingston drive I have.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the performance of this SanDisk 4GB USB flash drive thus far and can heartily recommend it. Looks nice as well.
4GB Cruzer Titanium is OUT OF THIS WORLD
2008-06-28
I now have two (2) 4GB Cruzer Titanium U3 drives and they are truley out ot this world in performance and value! I also convinced a friend in Brazil to purchase 2 more U3's for his personal use with a company computer. These memory sticks are beyond compare. I highly recommend them for anyone traveling (use ANY computer anywhere) or those who are restricted from using the company computer for any personal use. GO for it!

Beware of U3 virus software
2008-05-26
The hardware is impressive, but unfortunately it ships with the U3 virus software. I'm a software engineer by trade, and I'm amazed that Sandisk includes U3. When you insert the USB stick into a new computer for the first time, Windows will pop up a notice saying that's installing the U3 virus. Guess what happens when you give this USB stick to your boss to transfer some files? After he plugs it in, he yells at you, saying he doesn't want any damn software installed on his laptop. Telling him it's the U3 virus doesn't make it any easier.
Also, when you plug it into a Windows machine, two drives show up. This is due to the U3 virus trying to do auto-run. I tried to plug the USB stick into a photo kiosk at my local drug store to upload some photos. Because the first drive is empty (out of the two that show up), the photo kiosk will say there is nothing on the stick. Good job there, U3 virus.
Finally, I got so sick of the U3 virus, I ran the "uninstall" feature, which presented me with two options. The first option said it would take 99 minutes to complete. The second option said it would delete the U3 partition, which I believed referred to the first partition I mentioned in the above paragraph. I chose this second option, and it deleted everything off my USB stick. Then I had to pay $150 to have my data recovered.
Do not tolerate the U3 virus. Delete it immediately, or perhaps get a USB stick from another company.

I purchased two SanDisk 4 GB Cruzer Titanium flash drives from Amazon about a week apart. When I inserted the first one, I was presented with a menu offering the option to uninstall the U3 software which was easily accomplished. The only problem was the sliding extension seemed to be oversize as it was a very tight fit in USB ports.
I just received the second SanDisk flash drive and had a very different experience. After inserting it, the menu described above never appeared. Instead, the U3 software installed and there was a system tray icon and a second icon on the lower right corner of my Desktop. I went to Settings to uninstall U3 and received a message saying that wasn't possible because I had two U3 drives operating (not true). I downloaded the U3 uninstall utility from SanDisk's website and received the same message. Other people reported this problem on SanDisk's forum and none of the suggested remedies (disconnecting the printer cable, disabling other USB drive ports) worked for me. Also, the extension on the second flash drive was an even tighter fit and impossible to insert in some USB ports. I'm returning the second unit to Amazon for a refund.
The SanDisk Cruzer Titanium appears to be a physically sturdy unit but I could do without the oversized USB extensions and the inexplicable difficulty uninstalling the U3 software in the second flash drive I received.
Great USB drive - also a BOTTLE OPENER!!!!

Besides being a fantastic little USB drive, the Cruzer Titanium can also be used as a bottle opener! I'm not kidding... If I had a camera handy I'd make a video. I've been using Cruzer Titaniums for several years now and though I've never been disappointed by them, I have never been as satisfied with one as I am right now. :)
