The lens worked as described. I've not had the opportunity to get more use out of it yet. However, if the results as currently experienced are what I can expect, I will not be disappointed. The lens is great, the vendor honorable what more can one ask for.

Noisy focus and VR 2008-07-14
The silent wave motor (SWM) focus system is not very silent; however, it achieves very sharp focus in good light. In dim light, the SWM struggles, and sometime does not achieve focus. Has anyone else noticed a noisy SWM in this lens, or is mine defective?

The vibration reduction (VR) system is affective. It works very well in this lens; however, it is noisy. The noise resembles a clamping sound when the VR starts at the beginning of a shot. It produces a clunk when it releases after taking a shot. The image in the viewfinder also jerks at the end of the shot, which the instructions seem to indicate is normal. Has anyone else noticed this?

Good choice 2008-06-27
This has been a great addition to my original "kit" package. It has extended my range for my landscape photography as well as unobtrusive photography in crowds. The price is right!

Capable 2008-06-24
In well lit conditions the is a great lens. Pictures are nice and crisp and the zoom is much better then the kit lens. The only problem is...once the sun starts going done, the lens quickly becomes much less usable. Pictures come out dark and fuzzy. Typically once that happens I just switch over to my kit lens which is much more capable in lower light conditions.

So basically, if you plan on using this is sunny conditions, go for it, great lens. But if you're looking for something more flexible, get something with a better (lower) f-stop.

VR Works 2008-06-23
If you bought a D-40 with the 18-55mm lens kit, this zoom lens is a perfect addition for any beginning D-SLR users. I have gotten sharp images at 1/15 shutter speed. Great for nature and sports photography. If you have some extra cash, check out the "all-in-one" 18-200 Nikkor VR.

Great lens for the price 2008-06-21
This is a pretty decent lens, especially for its price. The f-stop doesn't get as low as I would want and the focus time can be a bit long (and noisy). But when I saw the lens I wanted was in the multi-thousands of dollars and this was less than $200, I went for this lens.

This lens does give great pictures. I can take pictures of a street intersection sign about a 1/10th of a mile away and I can read the words on the sign. The Vibration Reduction works great too. I took a picture of a bolting deer and it came in perfectly focused.

For the money, this is a great lens.

Nikon 55-200MM VR Zoom Nikkor Lens 2008-06-19
The lense is heavy and a challenge to focus; both distances and up close to the subject. It did not live up to my expectations and was returned to Amazon for a full, hassle-free credit.

55-20 VR Nikkor lens 2008-06-17
Very light for the optics, a delight to use. Clarity and focus are terrific. After using Nikon 35mm for over 30 years, being able to obtain this quality for the dollar is amazing.

Nikon DX VR 2008-06-17
Great piece of equipment, the 200mm is just what we needed for close up shots at the speedway, while being a safe distance away I would give the lens 5 stars but i was a touch un-impressed with amazon's speed of delivery for a product of this much quality and cost.

In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. White, the author of the bestseller "How Computers Work," knows how to pack a lot of helpful, understandable information in a brief no nonsense book.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."
