This is not a tablet PC 2007-05-24
I ordered mine from Amazon directly. It did not have touch screen capability. See the post in the discussion section for more details.

Nice size and features, short battery life 2007-04-06
Ordered this directly from HP and have had it for about 3 weeks. I purchased it because it had all the features I was looking for in a tablet pc includind built in web cam, touchscreen, dvd reader/writer and small size. The touch screen costs extra. The biggest draw back is the short battery life of the 6 cell battery which is only 2 hours. Some more shortcomings include very reflective screen making it hard to see at times and the touchscreen which in the tablet mode doesn't match closely with where the pen touches the screen this is very annoying. The other annoying thing is when switching into tablet mode, open windows don't automatically adjust to short width and long length. It would also have been nice to have a scroll wheel or buttons while in tablet mode. Other then the issues mentioned it has been working good. I just wish the battery lasted longer.

Light, very portable, a lot of features. 2008-02-20
The laptop has a ton of features for it's size. It's amazing they fit so much into such a compact design. Bluetooth was about the only feature I missed on mine. It's a great laptop to take on the road and is very sturdy. The bottom half of the case feels like metal (clearly more rigid than other HP laptops). Overall the laptop has a very solid design.

Things I didn't like. The computer is slow to boot, loading the OS takes longer than most comparable laptops (compared to DV6000z, DV2000z). Overall, I found the system to be sluggish, and I would attribute it mostly to the hard drive. Adding RAM (3gb) made no difference. The system also pushes quite a bit of heat out the rear exhaust vent. I have used almost every current HP laptop, and this one produces the most heat. Considering the compactness, this is understandable.

I have used both the touchscreen and non-touchscreen. I prefer the glossy non-touchscreen... it is much brighter. The touch screen is neat, but not terribly useful. As with any input device, it may require configuration changes for it to work exactly as you want. The touchscreen HAS to be configured for it to work accurately, if you don't it's useless. Both models are nice and compact, have tons of inputs (card reader, IR w/ remote, 3 USB ports, RGB monitor out, and Firewire).

So the laptop has it's weak points, and it's strengths. Overall I would say it works very well considering the compromises that need to be made for it's size. I found it funny how you adapt to the dimensions (including screen size) after a short period of use. It's weird switching back to a DV9000 and a huge 17" screen though. I would say though, that screen quality is more important than size. This model has an excellent screen. I think the one thing I miss when I use other laptops is the finger print reader... it's so convenient to just swipe your finger whenever you need to type a password (at login, any website, etc). Of all the features, that's the one that I really got accustomed to, and would recommend getting (The specs for the TX1110US listed here does not have this feature).

good laptop, achieved my expectatives 2008-02-11
if you are looking for an enterteinment laptop, this one will suit you very good. but you can't ask to much furder than that. the laptop is fast, good video, enough capacity, a pretty nice 180^ rotative screen, and the other especifications that they show you. the finger print security system could be upgrated, its far more secure than just a tiped password, but or also quite more slow. and definitly the touch-screen version makes the enterteinment more accessible. you could also improve the remote control, it doesnt work for too much programs, only the volume butons.....i would also like to say that or you forgot to install a certificated microsoft office, or you always send it with a temporal one. if so, you didnt especify that when you are selling the product, and now i have to purchase the package because the product asks me for a serial number everytime i start it. if you have a solution for me, please tell me

Don't buy it, if doesn't have a 2,3 mhz processor or an Intel dual core, don't bother... Also needs a better graphics card, the nvidia geforce 6150 Go can't work with windows vista, also the hardrive must have a 7200 RPM to work properly. Don't buy it.

HP tx1110us 2007-06-13
Had this laptop for about three weeks. I opted to not get the touchscreen because I would not use it. So far i am liking the laptop, light weight, bright glossy screen, 2.5 hr battery life, great speakers and its attractive to look at and comes with a tiny remote control to play DVDs from far away. My only complaint is the lack of XP drivers available, looks like I am stuck with Vista.

Excellent Laptop, NOT TABLET 2007-06-02
It's excellent, but make no mistake it's not touch screen model.
