Not what I hoped for from BOSE?
2008-09-05
Pros: Bass response, Fit & Comfort
Cons: High and Mid Range Response.
They have descent bass and a comfortable fit. The sound if full and wide. But the highs & mids are fairly flat & kind of muddy sounding? You have various size silicone earpieces to help you get the best fit. These do not go inside your ear canal the silicone tips just rest on the rim of the canal. So if you don't want that ear plug feeling of a pure sound isolation set of phones these are pretty comfortable. So with that they are a noise reducing option phone not a isolation one. They do reduce outside noise allot more than the standard earbuds though. If you are very active (ie: you want to use these for running or jogging) they maynot offer you a secure enough fit. For me they're fine. They sound better than the standard buds but with less highs & mids (a little muffled). I think I'm going to have to spend more $$$ to get something GOOD! :(

So I have been using a standard ipod headphones since i've purchased my ipod touch in november and those are about par if not a bit less for what I expect for a $15 pair of headphones
long story short - they broke (the rubber came off around them and they just fell to crap)
So I priced a few headphones
-apple standard buds $29? walmart
-bose in earbuds $90 amazon
-philips standard headphones $15
So I purchased the $15 headphones from phillips and the sound quality i found to be better than apples, but i couldn't block ANY sound when i would mow the lawn or do anything with sound so i returned them.
I purchased the bose buds
I expected rediculous sound being that i paid 1/3 the cost of my ipod touch just to have these headphones.
FINALLY-
The quality i found to be fuller and much more realistic than any other ear buds i've used. I have only had them a day but i have heard quite a few verses in songs that I had no idea what they were saying with my other buds and with these i could clearly hear what they were saying.
the sound is deffinitly crisper.
But for the price these headphones just don't - BLOW my mind like many think they should for what they are charging for them.
(another pair of headphones i found to be similar to these are the stock ear buds that come with the samsung yp-k5, yet the quality and comfort come no where near the bose the sound quality is a bit closer than all others mention prior)

This has to be a product of the BOSE-interns, This is my first time being dissatisfied by BOSE and I own allot of Bose products. Whats wrong with this product is that if you are an active person going to use this at the gym DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT buy this earphones, most of my workout is spend trying to plug back into my ears with the free accessories provided by Bose it still doesn't help just frustrating. The sound quality is great but you wont be able to enjoy the sound as it falls out of your ear.

Phenonmenal Sound and Comfort!

Oh my gosh! I recently introduced my 75 yr old mom to the 21st century by letting her try my daughter's iPod Shuffle. She is recently widowed, and takes bus trips to casinos and such, but can't stand the "old fogey", Lawrence Welk-type music they play on the buses. So she got her own Shuffe, and I loaded a bunch of Booker T and the MGs, Creedence, Santana, Glenn Miller, misc. classical....And she just LOVES her iPod! Well, she's always been a music fan, so when she told me the earbuds that came with the iPod weren't comfortable and always fell out, I told her I had these Bose in-ear headphones on my birthday wishlist (so hubby can shop wisely!). She's not one to fool around buying a bunch of cheap stuff she doesn't like, so I took her to the store where she bought these headphones. It's my job to put music on her iPod, so she gave my the iPod and the Bose in-ear headphones today to do just that (not that I needed the headphones, but I asked if I could try them out).
Again I say, oh my gosh! I can't believe the range of frequencies and deep bass I'm hearing! I'm listening to a variety of genres (gospel--Andrae Crouch, classical--Overture to Candide, Mars from the Planets, Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphoses--love the string bass and flute!, funk/dance--George Clinton, Morris Day & the Time,Brick House by Commodores--serious bass) and I'm literally hearing things I never heard from either pair of Apple ear buds I own.
I also just LOVE how comfortable they are! Instead of forcing earbuds into the ear canal--where they shift anytime you move, yawn, chew...these sit outside the canal. I must have different size ear canals, too, because one side always falls out first with the other ear buds. With these by Bose, it is a non-issue.
Seriously, if you demand great sound and long-wearing comfort--GET THESE! There are 3 sizes of tips to fit just about anyone, and I believe Bose has a 30 guarantee anyway. My birthday is in a couple of weeks, and if I don't get them from hubby--I'm buying them myself. Now I just have to give these back to my mom and go back to my uncomfortable, inferior-sounding pair for now--bleah!
3.5 sound 1 for losing all the ear pieces in a month
2008-06-04
I really wanted to like these... but losing all six of the ear pieces in a month is NOT a "feature" one wants to enjoy after dropping a C-note on them.
Very Good sound but not great. My 41 year old ear drums appreciated that these were more "bassy" than other buds that tend to be too tinny for me to stand for very long.
I've had better sound from the Koss behind the neck Active Noise Reduction headphones Koss QZ50 Stereophone .
Good mid end in-ear headphone
2008-06-04
I've had it for about 3 months now.
It works great with my iPhone.
The fit is good, at least for me. Maybe everyone has a different ear structure.
Pro:
1. can fit losely just outside ear pathway by using smaller size tip so you can still hear outside sound (for safety reasons) or you can opt to use the snug fit tip and block out 95% of the outside noise and focus on your music or whatever.
2. Unlike the factor headphones that come with iPhone, with this Bose in-ear, your ears don't hurt after wearing them for 5 hours.
Con:
1. The sound is not as crisp or clear as other high end in-ear headphones. (Shure, etc.)
2. the neck hanging system is quite trouble some (should give them credit for trying very hard). These extra cables tangle up everytime, it takes 1 min to detangle them to be able to use them. If they had tried hard enough, they should attach a free cable management system with the headset for easy storage.
I don't think Bose calls them Triport anymore. The new box just shows Bose In-Ear Headphones. Overall, I give it 4 stars and still highly recommend it.
You get what you pay for with Bose.

Certainly shelling out $100 hard-earned dollars for ear buds might be more than a little unnerving for most folks. Your investment in great sound will be justified when you find out how terrific the Bose in-ear headphones with the black and white cords are. (The last part of this is key because the model with the black and white cords are much improved over an earlier version that tended to fall out of one's ears too easily.)
The package comes equipped with three different sizes of ear tips that will make fitting easy for most users. Also included is a handy carrying case, neck connectors to help keep the tips in place, and a clip to use to attach the cord to your clothing, if desired. Also included is the quality that Bose is known for. The range, timbre, and tone of your favorite music will be crystal clear. Rich highs and lows, solid bass, and clear vocals will all be present. If you are an owner of other Bose products, you already know what to expect and this reviewer is just preaching to the choir.
The ear buds fit comfortably inside the "bowl" of one's ear, not directly in the ear canal. This allows for a better listening experience without damage to one's hearing. While, not "noise-canceling" in the truest sense, much of the outside world is blocked out from your listening enjoyment while wearing these ear buds. I have even mowed my yard while wearing them and have easily drowned out the sound of the mower without cranking my mp3 player anywhere even close to "max".
In this humble reviewer's opinion, I don't think you can go wrong with the new and improved version of the Bose in-ear headphones (manufactured after October of 2006). They may cost a little more, but if you truly enjoy listening to music, you're worth it!
